  • At @1:20 you can move the black horse back to kill the rook.

  • @xNibblezx3 black knight is pined by white queen

  • great vids man .i ll watch all ur vids.

  • wow i swear for god i didnt lie i saw it haha there was no direct mate.

  • i paused the vid at 1:07 all i can see now Rookd8 check then i can take black's queen.i can not see the mate.i will watch now...

  • great vids i hope u are still uploading vids.subbed and rated

  • white has lost knight and rook and blck lost the queen, so both are more or less balanced??

  • @chanabnagar knight =3 points, rook=5, queen is 9. white is at the advantage.

  • he sounds like microsoft sam when i have my volume down.

  • I love these short, elegant videos.

  • King e7 is the best move here...it would still be a pretty easy win for white, but there's always the chance that he might blunder. taking the rook at d8 is just the fastest way of losing blacks king

  • what if king e7?

  • @kokainhigh because than it wouldn't change a thing except now the white rook at d8 will survive and it will still be an easy loss for the black

  • White traded his R and N for blacks Q and white ruined blacks right to castle. Black N couldn't take whites Q because it was pinned. If you don't know what a pin is you are a beginner. Black is only down one point material wise but what is worse is his inability to castle and having his king vulnerable to many attacks.

  • yes, the black fella must feel pretty stupid falling for that cheap little trap

  • can casteling?

  • ... it's not necessarily "beat" the black knight was just as we would say in English "pinned" или придавлено

  • i feel stupid

  • @darioushs haha me to

  • Why would black beat the knight after he has seen that white castled ? This is a rookie game. it was so obvious what's going to happen...

  • wait why cant the knight take queen at end

  • @portugesemelon because the knight is blocking the white bishops path to the black king.

  • @portugesemelon if you cant figure THAT out then you should just quit chess permamently like me and never try playing it again.

  • @lazimofo90 fuck you asshole. jeez, i hope you have a little more respect in the real world than you do on youtube. it was a fucking questions my god

  • @portugesemelon

because if it took the queen it would have revealed the king and you cannot do that because the king would be in checkmate so its not possible

  • Beautiful combination! White pins the knight by force. Thanks for uploading.

  • omg.....thats some skill guys...actually

  • Comment removed

  • he couldn't move that knight , the queen would be aiming the King in diagonal from A4 ;-) absolutely no escape from this position, what a move the casteling was!!

  • Ah you mean the bishop right? Awesome move.

  • nice shot

  • what if ...............................

  • what if black king moves up to the black square?

  • it'd still be pinned by the bishop.

  • onlygaleo.. hi doesn't need to go to school, I understood everything.. maybee you need to take english classes..

  • is a queen really worth that much more than a rook and a knight? only 8 vs 9 points, correct?

  • yes the queen is definitly better than a rock and knight

but there is always some special cases

  • rook is worth 5 and queen 9

  • the black king cant castle which means the queen will win.

  • Holy shit...white is the Devil!!! Man that guy is good. I've never seen a rook this way in the beginning of a game, the traps were very well put. Black was too predictable.

  • Big Deal. Girls have their own world and we have our own. dude its just Chess lol ._.

  • Look at the statistics. All male. Do any chicks watch these videos at all?

I guess the intelligence question has finally been answered

  • fuckin seriously, they're busy watching videos about how to apply make-up

  • ...but black isnt in check -yet I guess lol

  • because if he moves the knight its open chek

  • i cant believe that mistaken belongs a master by black side, he could be seen that just before only 3 moves that was so easy

  • y dun just move the knight to chop off the castle's head?

  • You can't move into check

  • What program do you use?

  • porn

  • Yeah, it was a mistake. Instead of QxE4 ( queen takes knight ), black should play Bc8-d7 to prepare future O-O-O. And Qd8-Qe7 was also a mistake. Black was in better condition and could play Qd8-d5 to get position advantage and prepare for Bf8-b4+.

  • you could just take the queen and if night takes back checkmate

  • Nope. Without the queen to pin it, the knight on c6 covers the d8 square. No mate. Just one queen down.

  • White lost a Rook and Knight for a Queen, Material wise, both sides are still quite even. It is not a total loss for black, although blacks king is exposed now and cannot castle, whereas whites king is safely tucked away.

  • lol, got his ass. Bye bye queen.

  • a lot of stupid comments here

  • crap, i paused the video to guess why it was a mistake, but i guessed wrong. i can't believe i didnt think of that.

  • nice move

  • PINED

  • Finally I found educational chess videos!

By the way, it seems unnecessary to say "Bronstein against his opponent," since that is a given.

  • wow that is probably the best mate i've seen haha

does anybody know any really good chess sites with a rating system and blitz games? thanks to any replies

  • that was brilliant

  • Oh haha, stupid me.

  • The horse at c6 should have captured the rook on d8. Or am I stupid?

  • well u cant do so.. couse then the king gets a check frm the White Queen!!

  • i figured it out in the pause :P

  • What will happen if bishop goes to e7 instead of Queen?

  • Comment removed

  • WOW lovely way to win that queen thats brilliant, i play chess alot and one thing ive learnt is theres always an easy way out of something, it just likes to hide :P

  • very nice video!

  • After queen takes knight at e4, why doesn't the rook go e1? That wins a queen and a knight... rather than losing 1 rook for a queen.

  • Because then queen takes rook at e1 and it's checkmate.

  • UM BECAUSE Q JUST TAKES IT DUH

  • lolol

  • If the night took the rook instead of the king taking it then the plan would have been suicide..

  • The knight cannot take because that would put king in check by the queen along the a4-e8 diagonal.

  • the knight is pinned

  • oh yeah...

  • yeah lol

  • hmmm...the beginning of this video seems somewhat similar to your blitz game you should us. except the bishop never took the black's knight.

  • chess defines blacks as slightly inferior and white slightly superior at the dawn of match. many times the black has to play in progression to reach equality in position with the initiate preemptive white advancements.

  • I don't understand the last part where the black knight can't capture the white queen.

    Can someone explain to me?

  • If you move the knight then the king is in check from the bishop. its pinned

  • If he would have moved the knight, white could have eaten black king which is impossible to do in chess.

  • yes if he captures then the bishop captures the black king

  • Because black would then be in check - look at white's bishop.

  • its because he is black

  • stick to checkers u n00b

  • should show this to anyone who is wondering why chess is best game of all time

  • do some more chess videos! :D

  • Rook to e1.. queen can't move so it's screwed.

  • Hehe, rook to e1 and black mates:-)

  • rd8+, kd8, bxf6+, gxf6, qxe4 wins queen

  • Lol? why lose the bishop? just qxe4 after ...kxd8, the knight is pinned

  • Wow!! pwned!

  • I like the games that you choose, it's not that they are particularly excellent games, but it is that they show something fundamental about the nature of chess, that extra dimension of movement that newer players often miss, I like it, it's got me interested in chess again and hacking up the computer.

  • I don't get how White moved the king and the rook at the same time at 0:58. Can someone please explain if this was just a glitch on his part.

  • He castled.

  • well ... you should learn chess...

  • and you should learn how to stay quite if you don't have anything good to say.

  • What's wrong? Can't handle a little criticism? That's true, though; you need to learn your rules of chess. Besides, you tell me that I need to stay quite, but quite what? You didn't specify.

  • And you learn by asking questions right? Or am I missing something?

  • Sometimes. I learned by reading.

  • And I learned by reading jSaurabh's answer to my question. ;p

  • That's good then. Do you also know about pins, forks, and skewers?

  • I know about pins but I haven't heard about forks and skewers.

  • Super Video

    and well explained.

    I love chess.

    Впечатляющие видео

    Я люблю шахматы.

  • great video. good tactics in a short match

  • Wow this stuff is genius i am hooked:D

  • A very clever end by using the queen as a final ;)

  • santaclaus that knight was pinned against the king by whites queen in the first place so to take the rook with that knight would be an illegal move

  • Very Nice tactical Moves!

  • Who is NN?

    Please reply

  • nn = an opponent we dont know of.

  • Probably stands for No Name.

  • Moving the rook to be right next to the Black King was taking a risk, because, he could have just taken the rook with his knight, but obviously, black did not see this, nor did he see the loss of his Queen.

  • no, you are wrong, the knight on c6 cannot take the rook, because it is pinned to the king, therefore king must take.

  • Comment removed

  • wonderful combination I would have never seen this :)

  • What if white did the following:

    - White queen strikes black queen.

    - The knight will obviously strike the white queen.

    - White rook is moved up, next to the king.

    - Black has no choice but to strike the rook with knight.

    - White moves bishop (on white squares) to chess the king.

    Mate.

This seems to me the best moves, or am I missing something? The only thing that could possibly stop this chain of events (if I'm correct) is the black knight not striking the white queen, which is still good.

  • pawn to C6 or knight back to C6

  • Thanks, hadn't seen that... so, its no mate. Still a pretty good situation, but no mate.

  • How would it be a good situation? You would be down one rook.

  • Yeah, but you'd be on assault... not saying it's a better situation than the one presented, but you're pretty close to mate...

  • Hmm... That queen takes queen move isnt bad. Most people wouldnt see the whites move as seen in the video. But sacrificing the rook after queen takes queen is a bad move i think. You have a fragile initiative that it is impossible to keep. Black only needs two free moves to be able to castle king side, and your attack is over.

So, the queen takes queen is what can be expected of most people and isnt necessarily a bad move. I just wouldnt be so hasty with the rook sacrifice after.

  • Thanks :P I tend to always look over one option, in this case the pawn blocking the bishop. The way presented is best though, hands down.

  • if you don't sacrifice the rook and force the king on to the h4-d8 diagonal where the bishop is then you can't take the Queen and will have lost the piece for nothing!

  • C7-C6

    Blocks check and threatens bishop.

  • At top Level master play.. it does mean you lose.. because that queen will 99.9% not be given back... and then played down to an endgame in which white has a queen... and black doesnt

  • Hmmm... yes okay, white is ahead after this combination... What the video fails to explain though is why black is lost; it's down a queen versus a rook and a minor piece (knight in this case) which considering the position is a disadvantage, but still, if played properly black really isn't lost that much... Losing your queen does not automatically mean defeat, especially not in this case.

  • Great post! Looks like you are the first person who pointed this out! My purpose was just to show beautiful combination. According to my information black resigned, but I agree that black could have resisted further.

  • It's pretty awesome because it works even if the king doesnt take the rook.

  • At 00:58 if A4 Queen captures E4, F3 Knight to E4, D1 Rook to D8 Mate.

  • Knight on C6 can capture D8.

  • that would mean check.

  • No, because the white queen is no longer at A4 to pin the C6 knight.

  • I love his vids, thanks for posting. It's the most interesting vids on the net.

  • hmmmm....can you explain to me what and how pinnings are done? i understand the word, but i dont see the pin? please help? YOUR FREAKIN AWESOME!!

  • A pin is when a piece or pawn guards a piece or square from attack. To move the pinned piece or pawn is to subject that piece or square to attack. In this video the white queen is free to capture blacks queen on e4 because blacks knight is pinned to his king by whites bishop on g5. The knight pin is an absolute pin becase to move it puts blacks king in check which would be an illegal move.

  • i really love your vids. thank you

  • sabriath is a moron!!

  • Yes, I know this one :)

  • The best move that black has is NOT the king to rook kill, the knight is completely defending nothing and can easily take rook without consequence leaving the other knight to defend the queen. THAT knight is protected by pawn, white would need to move bishop into check position or find alternative, which the knight can easily reclaim past square to block him. Do you know what you are talking about?

  • I take back my first comment, I just realized the error of my ways the MOMENT I clicked Post...sorry, my mistake

  • LOL!

  • ...so much for that line. LOL.

  • awsome thanx heaps. keep up the vids they are really helpful
