Jim Martin is so fucking cool. I put this on in the background whilst doing some homework and I can't stop watching the video cause he looks so bad ass!
PERFORMED LIVE FOR MTV. Timeless. Beautiful, though Jim Martin and Mike Patton were really pulling apart their already loose fabric. I love Jim Martin, though. And Kim Thayil and Joe Strummer and James Patrick Page and Dave Navarro and Tom Morell and Mick Jones and The Doors and Gram Parsons and my wife and kids. That's, that's about it. And probably weed ... .
@GuineaPigGuidance5 Actually, his voice is spot-on... the problem is that, despite having microphones in front of them, the back-up vocals weren't singing.
Aaa yes - good ol Jimbo! The one and only when it come to FNM guitarists - Trey Spruance did a great job on King for a day thou' - but still it's Jimbo all the way for me.
@frogmonkeyify I haven't been to many shows by them. In fact, I haven't been to any. I know, my life sucks. Anyway. I know that's the way he is, and that's precisely why he was booted out. He wasn't interested in the music he was playing, and was displeased with the direction the band was taking. He's a great guitarist, but he was holding them back. If they didn't fire him, King For A Day wouldn't have been made. And King For A Day is by far my favorite FNM album.
Without Jim Martin Faith No More lost that distinct edge, that of which signified Faith No More's sound for many years. Texture wise, he was greatly instrumental in the incorporation of counterpuntal and succinct harmony, as well as being heavily conducive to the music's overall atmosphere. And to clear up some confusion or misunderstanding considering in regards to his demeanor, and my apologetic argument towards that, was meant to propound that said demeanor was more so languid...
than petulant or quarrelsome, though I will concede there was quite a bit of bad blood between Moseley and Martin, as evident therein the tension prevalent in interviews involving the two.
Who said I cared for your opinion of me? I'm more concerned with your ignorance towards music. As for the greatest guitarist, that title would probably belong to Shawn Lane. You should check his stuff out. I'm glad you find me amusing at least. Could you try to be amusing? I just find you sad.
@frogmonkeyify You used big words as if you were trying and failing to sound smart. Just saying.
I've never heard of Shawn Lane, but in the music world that's usually a good thing if you are under the radar. Personally, I think the best modern guitarists are Buckethead and Tom Morello.
Now, what do you find sad about me? What did I say? I love FNM, I respect the hell out of Jim Martin, the only thing is that Jim didn't like the music anymore. So he left. That helped both FNM and Jim.
Firstly, this is how I normally type. You know that thing called an education? Yeah, it's conducive to eloquence. It's not my fault you don't know how to use Google, now is it? :) Secondly, try not to be such a douche.
@frogmonkeyify Yeah because "FUCK YOU THATS HOW JIM MARTIN IS" is so, so eloquent. Oh yeah, that's right, you deleted those comments. What do you know?
@frogmonkeyify Oh, sorry. But still, you calling me a douche is hilarious. And yeah, Jim is a great guitarist, but come on man, he was fired for a reason.
@frogmonkeyify Lol, a guy like you has a son? Aren't parents supposed to be mature?
Look, if you are insulting me poorly, then surely I can insult you poorly. And no, I have a life. I just like to chill out and listen to Faith No More, and then I saw you saying that Jim shouldn't have left or something like that. And I responded. Then we kept responding.. and so on. How does that make me a bad person? Because by that logic so are you, and the rest of the youtubers as well.
Nope. People were looking down upon him unjustly. I felt the need to defend Jim Martin as both a musician and a cohesive, integral part of Faith No More.
@frogmonkeyify Integral part? If he was so integral, the band would have floundered without him. But they didn't. In fact, they only got better with King For A Day. So, yeah.
@uiruu Jim Martin was the best guitarist in FNM full stop, look at all the kingpins of the FNM set list which are all Jim Martin compositions which the other guitarist can only COPY!
@beano1eye Alright, that's all good and fine but that's not the point. He was KICKED OUT because he had NO INTEREST IN THE DIRECTION THE MUSIC WAS TAKING. Guitar skills are irrelevant. He just didn't fit in anymore, and that really shows in this clip.
Well, you know nothing about the band. I deduced this upon your lack of knowledge of his name, which is Sir James Martin of Faith No More, as well as your distaste towards him, despite how prevalent his guitar work is in Faith No More, since if you knew this fact, then you wouldn't have reacted the way you did; you would have adulated him. You're simply envious of Jim Martin's demeanor and talent, evidently. Get some sunlight once and a while. Seems like you need some vitamin A.
@frogmonkeyify i'm not even a bif fan of this band, i just think it's obvious that a guy standing on stage smoking is not the biggest stage present in the world, and i dislike his very metal-oriented guitar playing (personal opinion) and the fact that he wears sunglasses on stage doens't help neither. i don't care whatever youhave to say, like i said i don't even like the band that much, but i can have my opinion
You're just so stupid. His guitar playing added dynamic and flavour to Faith No More. Perhaps the reason you don't realise this is because you're not a musician. You're just some cretin who doesn't know what he's talking about.
@frogmonkeyify I do get a lot of sunlight, i live in the sunniest place in Europe :) are you gonna callme eurotrash? fag? stupid? :) LOL look it's not a problem that i don't like the guitar player, YOUR problem is that the band don't like him andprobably don't care about his name neither. take care.
i think it says a lot more for the band when 16 year olds are loving them 20 years later, than it does from some tool from the 80s-90's scene just liking what he knows that he is expected to like from the era.
Well, Dougskapt this is in 1992, in Indianapolis. It was when the ultimate trio Faith No More, Metallica, and Guns and Roses were touring together. Of course, FNM were just the appetizers, since they were still an opening act at the time. But they still deserved touring with GNR and Met. Best tour I've seen among most in the 90s.
@greenative i'm 16 too, but the age doesn't matter, in my opinion it is our duty to search the best music from each and every source available out there, and elect the music that has the power to inspire, has a message to say, and brings innovation into the music industry, and i agree with you about MTV.. it's not about music as an art anymore, is about music as a business
muskateering, you dam straight brother! me and my band do this song as with a load of other 90s classics, just trying to keep good rock alive. FNM have the iconic 90s rock sound and always will. the end. \m/

man this band is the best is like 5 band on 1 if u know what i mean,i hope that now that they are reunited they make a new album, that would be awesome
@Pasterjiz Disturbed is AMAZING, well atleast there old albums, Sickness & Believe are their only good and heavy albums, i like the others a bit but its no nears as good as their first, i haven't heared anything from Asylum yet.
Before hearing this song I knew Mike Patton by his work on Tomahawk and Mr.Bungle so I heard Faith No More and so as I thought..no less to expect from him than excelent music!! = )
Didn't Patton actually hate Faith No More?
