They went out of style as soon as they stopped making money. All of these cartoons (ALL OF THEM) were designed to sell toys and get advertiser revenue. When the toys stopped selling, and the sponsors stopped coming, the shows die.

It was NEVER about us, the viewer. It's always about what's in our pockets. "In style" just means "marketability".
