In the original 1913 edition, it's a B1. But in here, they bumped it up to a C2. (I like the original key better, though.)

I was in this as tenor 1, and even though it was high at sometimes, i loved it ! This was my favorite right next to Pirate song. Overall i had a great experience and am hoping to make it next year (hopefully the mixed, but the men's choir would be just fine for me =) ).

my god this is great. i don't know about it being raised a half step though. when auditioning on this song i was having a voice change. I started out on tenor 1 when i was a 2 and by the time the auditions were over i was a baritone. Someone need to tell that tenor 2 to bring it down.

amazing i get chills everytime i hear somebody singing this song, around region audition times i would sit in with out guys as they rehearsed just to hear it, the tenor one part is amazing and then bass 2 is like prefection lol okay i am done haha

oh god I remember that cell phone, i was so pissed i was right near that person in the seat.

I love the song but I felt he overpowered it at some parts. Its such an awe-inspiring sound to listen to, I just think you have to be gentle with it.

But i do have to say one thing, I was there at this performance and this recording is nothing compared to actually sitting there.

the reason we got louder was b/c as beautiful the song is he didn't want the crowd to be board hearing the same dynamic for 3mins and he wanted to add a little extra to the piece =]

Oh I totally understand that (previous all-stater now in college here <--- :) I've just heard it performed by some russian chorales and for some reason they can captivate the intensity in such a softer sound. And more obviously a smaller ensemble. Dr. Kaptein was very smart, and I like what he did with the song given the size of the ensemble, he took that power and used it. Also after raising you guys a whole step :P from the original key (right?) High B's in the tenor.....FUN!!
