  • This would take fucking ages and I know I would get fucking confused.

    Classic chainmail is fucking easy.

  • No, they don't have to. They may not have the equipment to do so. For someone learning to make jewelry, it is best they start with bought rings. Also, where would one draw the line? Why not draw the wire as well? For example, many jewelry artisans work with gemstones that have been cut and polished by others ( lapidary artisans).

  • I think if someone claims to "make" jewelry, they should also make the jump rings as well.

  • muchas gracias por el tutorial, la he podido hacer y queda preciosa.

  • Brilliant! Thank you for the tut. I've been struggling with the other way to construct this weave (starting with a 2X2X2). Your method rocks!

  • Thanks for the great how to. Persian doesn't seem as scary now.

  • These are 18G 1/4" rings. You might like to check out the static tutorial on my blog

  • what size rings are being used? What is the ID (inside diameter) in mm?or the out side diameter?

  • Awesome video. Thank you so much. I've just started my chainmail projects, have done it with copper and II just love doing them. I'll definitely try this full Persian. Thank you so much for making it so easy.

  • Excellent and clear! I just began chain maille and I could follow perfectly well. Woohooo! Thanks Beadinggem!

  • Great tutorial. You made it very clear. I can't wait to try it. Thank you!

  • Great tutorial! Easy to follow, and better than the book that I was trying to learn it from. Thanks!

  • Thank you for doing it step by step and making it look so easy!!

  • Thank you Beading gem you've solved a puzzel for me.

  • All of the other videos start out with three sections, then you're suppose to squash them together and put in links who knows where. Your technique was amazingly easier! I got it right away. If there was a chainmail teaching award, you would win first prize!

  • Search Youtube - there might be one already ;-)

  • If you ever do please let me know. Thanks

  • Glad it helped. Alas, I don't have the tutorial you want.

  • I have looked at a lot of video Tutorials and I was never able to make the full persian chain maille bracelet until I looked at yours. Thank you so much. Do you have a tutorial on the half persian chain maille bracelet?

  • Try the Ring Lord or Metaldesignz. Have fun!

  • I love this! Where do you get your jump rings? I want to do this using black and silver rings, but I'm having trouble finding both colors in the same size/gauge for a decent price.

  • I have been trying to learn this weave forever, but could never figure it out! This video shows how to do it without any complications. It took me a few tries before I got it, but I got it!! LOL Thanks a bunch for sharing this! :o)

  • This is hands down the best video on this subject, THANK YOU !

  • Thanks for the video! I struggled with this weave for days with a different tutorial. But your way made it super easy!

  • This works nicely with split rings too :)

  • love it!

  • Try Tool Magic. It's a coating you can apply on your tools. Some jewelry artisans like it as it cuts down on tool marks on wire. You can purchase it from many jewelry supply stores.

I personally don't like the anodized aluminum for precisely that reason. I usually stick to copper, brass, bright aluminum and silver. But I agree the color range is limited.

  • Very helpful. no matter how hard i try, my pliers remove the anodizing on aluminum, are there special pliers that have protection on them?

  • Comment removed

  • If you use big rings (18G 1/4") like I do, the project works up quickly. A bracelet should take about 2 hrs for a beginner.

  • wow thanks for the great tutorial =) i have been trying to do this pattern for ages and i only just found out what it was called =). do you reckon you could tell us how long it takes you to make an entire bracelet or neckalce??

  • @Prod1gyXtr3m

I just started doing chain today, and using 18ga 1/4in ID its taken me about a hour for 4 inches. but im new and slow and trying not to scratch my anodizing.

  • Even though you make it look so easy, I still think I would struggle with it lol.

  • @GatitaBonita08 Give it a try - you will find it will get easier with a little practice.

  • Nice job! Couple differences to the way I do it - I hold pliers upside down from you (right hand/bent nose) and pick up rings with pliers. I begin with 2 rings through 2 rings, then add a pc of twist tie or phone wire through middles of all 4 rings - and twist the wire ends to hold these 2 pair together. This holds the 2 pair cross-wise to each other, setting up the pattern for addition of more rings. rest is the same. Nancy B

  • @fancnanc66 That's a great variation! Thanks for sharing it!

  • thank you, very good tutorial

  • thanks a lot, very easy to see what your doing, you make it look very easy.

  • I agree about the bigger size. I have lots of 4mm rings and they are just a bit too small to accomplish this task. I get half way through the first bunch and the rings won't budge. Can't wait to get the bigger size rings to begin this one. The project seems pretty easy though.

  • Thanks everyone for your kind words! I am so pleased to be of help.

  • Brava! Beautiful tutorial! I've been doing maille for several years but the Persian was one I couldn't grasp until now. Thank you for sharing! *smiles*

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial, I have been trying to complete this for months, thank you for a BRILLANT tutorial.

  • So awsome! I am a show me type learner, and have bought some videos from Spider (great teacher) BUT..... The way she shows how to do the full Persian I just couldn't get the hang of it. While buzzing around on the internet I happened to click on your tutorial and the way you illistrated the tenchique I can now say with a BIG BIG smile that I can now do the full Persian!!! THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH. :)

  • Excellent!! Thanks so much for sharing this video! I'd done this weave from some printed instructions, but couldn't remember and was having a hard time figuring it out again. Your video made it so easy!!

  • That's right - these are 1/4" rings, 18G. I highly recommended beginners to use this size first.

  • What size rings are you using? They look like quarter inch, but I just want to make sure

  • Thanks this tutorial helped out alot, you kickass.

  • I've done the full Persian (fox tail) before and keep forgetting how to start a new chain. This video was great and the easiest to follow. The twist ties made the world of difference.

  • Brilliant tutorial!! Can you do one for Jens Pind!! It's my nemesis!!!!

  • I just started chainmaille this weekend and have looked at a bunch of videos and website instructions. Yours was by far the easiest. I made a full bracelet! and am starting another with a smaller mm. I hope you do some more videos. The twist ties are a life saver!!

  • Very nice. I can do full persian but it takes me forever (from constantly going back to fix it) and this will save a lot of time

  • Wow....this was very helpful, thank you sooo much, i am new to this chainmaille art but you make it so easy!

  • Ooooohh..... I get it now! thanks!

  • This is the easiest full persian tut that I have seen. I have a collection of how tos but this one (in my opinion) is the best.

  • I did not make the rings myself but I believe they are full hard temper.

  • Is that wire half hard or did you not make the rings yourself?

  • nice vid not much of a totorial but it still helped

  • Great tutorial, thanks for the video. Was so easy to pause and work at my own speed.

  • I agree, very well demonstrated. After watching this video I grabbed my box of rings, opened them, and after 5minutes have made a 10cm chain.

How do you deal with the ends of it when adding a clasp?

  • Nevermind. Having a decent look at the finished chain answered that question.

  • Awesome. I will now give this a try. Thank you for a great video. Very clearly demonstrated.

  • Great video! Thanks

  • I've been hesitant to try chain maille, however, ran this tutorial on my iTouch so I could have it in front of me, could pause, rewind and play, and YAHOO - I CAN chain maille. Turned it into a lovely bangle watch! Thanks, and maybe another instructional video on the byzantine pattern?

  • Ah, if you check out the accompanying photo and text tutorial on the blog post, you will read that I know I did this with a certain gay abandon on closing the rings - this is after all an amateur video. It's mainly about instruction not finesse and the information here is freely given.

There are many ways to do weaves, this is but one more for the FP. One I might add, has been successfully taught to a number of people. I look forward to seeing more versions on Youtube.

  • @beadinggem Thanks for sharing. Very good video.

  • ok full persian fun weave.

But you didnt close your rings enough you got gaps! should have brought them back and fort couple more times working the gap more closed. And full persian is related to box chain so start it like boxchain and then when you would add your two to flip the two rings open in box put ring on and flip it back and go thru the v that points back to the starting rings.

Check out spiderchains dvds much easier way to do this!

  • oh jeez! this is a tough weave with 20g 1/8 but still a good weave!

  • Thanks! Please do check out the blog post which gives the text with still photos and makes things clearer.

The video doesn't have a voiceover. I'm not that experienced enough to do both the orchestrated manouveres AND a script! Someone did tell me they would find a voiceover too distracting.

  • Hey Pearl, gr8 to finally have u here. So glad ur sharing ur talents on video as well. Look forward to seeing more on this site.

Thanks for the inspiring, amazing emails you send everyday.
