"Gedächtnis" means "memory". "Drossel" means "thrush", a kind of bird.

While watching japanese anime i've noticed that in a couple of animes they use german words or phrases, i personally think it's just an exotic language to them, like japanese sounds exotic to us(me).

So they use it, like we sometimes use words from other languages.

Most of us(Japanese) have a German image as advanced mech-technology. so SF/Robo anime, like Gundam, tend to borrow German words to show "futuristic". That's all.
