@TheRaunchymailman I solved this on my own literally just now. I too have an M Audio external device.

In the drop-down menu below "VST Audio System" click "No Driver" then click on the menu again and choose your M-Audio device.

I am getting NO playback at all in cubase. I can record things but when I try to play it back there's no sound whatsoever. I've followed the instructions of numerous videos but none have them helped to get me playback.

@TheRamos07 If everything is setup right then you should check the drivers for your sound card, your output cables, speakers, and anything else like that.

This video is helpful, but I still need a bit more help. I bought a 'Fender Mustang III' amplifier the other day, which comes with a USB cable to connect it to a computer. As well as an Amp it's an audio interface, which I guess means I can use that to record my guitar.

I've installed the Fender Universal ASIO, and I've selected that as my ASIO driver, but I still get no sound coming through? Can anybody help me out here?

Hi there, how are you? I have cubase5 with Audio Kontrol1 for an interface. The signal from the Roland thru the interface to Cubase is good (the midi input in fine) now when I went to change the sound card I found the Audio Kontrol but not the Audio K ASIO so I cant hear the signal on the monitors also there is no signal on the audio track (in or out). I can hear the midi fine on the laptop’s speakers. I did the same setup on reason4 without any probs. what am i miising.thank you for your time.

How do you set up more than one audio device?

I have an audio interface from which I can record (a Line6 Toneport) but I prefer the output to be from the regular soundcard and input to be from the interface. I know this is possible because it used to work this way by default, but I have since formatted my computer which has now caused the settings to be reset.

@deathglow You can't do that, actually. When you select the audio device, you are selecting that device for input and output. If you previously had that working, it could have been a snafu, but sadly, you cannot have different devices for input and output.

Hi, I am having the same problem as Gabbygp. I have all drivers installed for the mic and it works great in FL Studio, but it isn't being recognized in Cubase. I use the CI2 audio interface, and since the mic plugs directly into the computer the driver for the interface is being used, but the mic is nowhere to be found.

@bmxisforme could be that the mic has its own ASIO audio source going on, which isn't working when the other device is selected in cubase. Not sure of an easy way around this, I'd have to research, and you'd have to call in and work with me.

I'm having a specific problem. I only have the built in audio card which came with my comp, so I DL'ed ASIO4ALL and chose it as my driver. but I hear NO sound from Cubase at all. Not even the click. Obviously my computer plays normal sounds and songs play ok in itunes etc, but for some reason nothing plays in Cubase. I'm only doing very basic stuff, using electronic keyboard etc, but nothing. Any idea? Maybe the built-in sound card can't handle it?

Good morning.

I'm using fireface 400 as my preamp and Cubase 5 as DAW.

I can only get sound from RME fireface channels 1 and 2.I can't get any sound from my RME fireface channels 2,3,4,5,6,7,8.

In the Cubase 5 device set up panel ,I noticed the only channels 1 and 2 inputs and outputs are "ACTIVE"

Channels 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, inputs and outputs are "INACTIVE"

Unfortunately i don't know how to "ACTIVATE" those channels .Can you please help me?

@fojeba make sure you have the most recent RME drivers, and then make sure you've activated all the ins/outs in the RME mixer panel.

Ok I have a mv8000 a fast track and a Roland um2 midi box that my midi from mv. I set the mv8000 as the Slave midi. When I hit record on cubase the mv starts to play the tacks I have and a red line plays in cubase. When i stop record nothing it there. I can speak into mic it record that and plays back on one headphone but midi will not play and is not there. Is there something im not setting up in cubase right?

so i hav an inteface and cubase, ive routed everything correctly and it works,,, however, when i record the audio is very very low! and yes ive checked my levels and the interface is set up right, in cubase it is under asio and the ins and outs are all active but the audio is too low. but when i turn of cubase and go into for instence audacity or reaper and record it comes out perfect but i like using cubase cuz it easier... do u hav a solution?

@isreal95 I really can't say without looking at your signal chain. If you have any plugins in the chain, turn them off. Check that there's no input attenuation (volume cutting) happening with a plugin or a setting in cubase. If none of that works, call us.

the device i use to record is great, my roland fantom, but you can't record and playback at the same time. so basically I have one device i use to record and one device i use to playback. can cubase let you seperate devices and assign one for playback and one for recording? thanks

hey i went to devise setup in cubase, but all i get is ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver and Gebetic Low latency Driver thats it and my new interface does not appear. I just bought this interface called Alesis io2 and only came with a Cubase trial instalation cd. How can i record using this interface in Cubase? thank you.

I have a problem with getting my mackie profx12 usb mixer to connect with cubase 5 I've tried a couple things the control panel thing where i select the usb instead of asio driver and when i go to device setups i cant find where to select my mixer from it just says midi in and out when my mixer is usb HELP please

I've done this but on one of the inputs I select when clicking on the control panel it doesnt appear when I go back. It just shows the two outputs and when I go on to busses says the inputs are unmapped I'm using a basic usb plug in Yamaha MW12c do you have any ideas how I coudl fix it?
