@rigomrtsfx What do you mean it works with 360? How could it? There's no software that supports motion. Could you explain further, please? I'd love to do something like this if I could for my rig.
This kind of configuration requires the game itself to be open-source as the driving signals (wheel spin velocity, etc...) cannot be reached from a normal simulator game.
Long story short, this cannot work with the consoles like 360.
Truely inspiring. I am raising funds to attempt this. One question: would it be possible to have a 3-monitor surround setup, or would they colide with the frame as it moved diagonally forward?
PVC pipes, biggest bullshit for a simulator. Those small "wrong g-forces" produced by flex and swing of the tubes would get on my nerves! (i tried a simulator like yours) Everything good, but these PVC pipes... I will never understand it. I would wait another 3 months to get my simulator (if its about money for example) and buy metal to be able to build it stiff and strong. If you ever will try a well build simulator, you will burn this one done. This is a promise!
@QuertrGTRR Remember that I made all this at home with no tools and minimum budget... Home is no place to do power tools work. I still believe that PVC is more "home" friendly. Yeah, If I had money and a real workshop I would built a rocket too...
Just simply awsome. i'm only 16 but already have aims to make something similar. have the majority of electronics working, just lack of other hardware for building the frame
This is my favorite racing simulator BY FAR. I wish the link worked so I could learn how to build this myself. I need a huge project... I spent about 8 hours researching this type of stuff today and I have concluded that this is the sweetest one.
hey, congrats!!! this is a increible job!!! I would like to build your simulator.. im trying to get into the page but isn't work, can you fix the link??? how can i get specific information about how to built it??? I really appreciate your help. thanks for your answer.
My site is down now because I could not afford to maintain it. I may get it back up again later. For now you can just download the DIY instructions from the third link there (rapidshare) thanos_site_offline.zip
now that seems like it would be a good simulator, representing g force i would imagine it would cost a lot to build or just buy one to the same standard. good vid
i don't think it's been used to simulate how car moves, but rather by changing the direction of the gravitational force acting on a person to simulate the G force they would experience. that's why it rotate in the opposite direction of the steering wheel. and by rise the nose, it will give you an acceleration feeling and dip it make you feel decelerating (breaking). since the screen is fixed reference to player, he will feel like in a car in motion.
It's not about how the actual simulator moves, but about the forces that the machine "simulates". If you were on this simulator in a pitch black room, you would feel pretty close as if you were on a real car.
No way dude. That simulator is giving off like 2G pushes on a F1 Race car. F1's are built with such a great center gravity that they barley ever go over 1.5G forces through turns, braking, and accelerating. Your body doesn't tilt left and right in a car unless your on 2 wheels or you set on side of your strut, shocks, and springs to a negative damper. Drive a real race car, and then get into a simulator, tell me how much of a difference you feel.

Hi Thanos, here go my late congrats!
I'm wondering if you feel the asphalt rough and bumps like chicane or it's just the G forces?
Anyway your project is a piece of art!

@TheRafaelDesign Thank you! Yes, bumps and rough motion data are passed also on the motors in the degree that the game emulate them of course!!
