  • @PILMAN How do you clean your barrel? I hear aluminum and stainless steel rods foul the barrel. Also when I insert the rod from the back of the barrel I have to push the rod at an angle because the receiver is in the way or could I do it from the other end? Sorry I'am new to rifles. Thanks

  • you dumbass full fieldstripping means that you take off the hangguard and the locking clip

  • @oknehh This isn't an AR15 where the gas tube is located inside of the handguard.

  • @oknehh dumb fuck thats not field stripping thats half assing. an AR-15 is easy enough to dissassemble

  • @PILMAN I had to lightly bang the sides with the rubber handle of a screwdriver to get it off. I went to the gun store where I bought it and two people that worked there couldnt do it by hand. They took it to the back used some tools now it fits perfect

  • This is bullshit, I cant get the dust cover back on you make it look easy. Im going to ask my local gun store for help I tried for an hour.

  • @Captncronica You gotta push in the recoil spring slightly while pushing down the dust cover, it's tricky, trust me it took me a good hour to get it then I was like "oh, that wasn't so difficult"

  • @Captncronica the galil dust cover is intended to be extremely tight toleranced. its to keep the rear sight from loosing zero. DO NOT have a gunsmith remove material or dremel or file at it. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!

  • Rk 95 has to be the best ak variant ever.

  • Valmet continued making those rifles with different calibers from 5.56, .308 etc. up to 80's or 90's when Sako bought valmet, or they merged. The last for the series is the RK-95TP adopted by FDF or civilian variant M92. After the israelis started to make Galils they've evolved seperately ofcourse. Still they stayed kinda identical for most parts. RK series has pretty much died since. The new galils look cool though..

  • The galil was made by Israel, it is a hybrid of the m16 and ak 47 it is as reliable as the ak with the accuracy as the m16

  • @awesomefableable Sorry for being a history teacher but: Galil was made with machinery bought from valmet by Israelis based on documentation from valmet. It's based on the finnish Valmet M-62 or FDF name RK62. The RK62 was designed from an ak or an ak clone smuggled from east germany (according to legend(?)). Then It was redesigned to work better on cold environments and designed to be made more precisely and to have better sights and easier to clean gas tube. FDF chose the 7.62x39 version..

  • Does your dust cover sit tightly, and how securely does the gas tube fit? (wondering about getting a tactical tube with ris)

I wanted to pick up a century arms golani, any comment on accuracy compared to an AR?

  • @tokishreds it's pretty tight and gas tube shouldn't really move, it fits in groove. Theres a lip that connects and keeps it in place, century arms golani is not bad, about as accurate as an AR.

  • @PILMAN Alrights thanks man!!! ill take your word for it, i like the look a lot more than the ak74

  • my favorite gun.. what a beast

  • I saw big ass ak influences in the weapon that's pretty cool

  • Hey Pilman, my clip has a lot of play. After I snap it in it moves side to side and actually makes noise like rattling sound when I'm walking w/gun. Does the same with both clips. Does your clip fit solid w/out much movement?

  • @razed1022 mine were a pretty tight fit.

  • I heard this gun has a bottle opener & wire cutters on it. True?

  • @Xanatos712 yep it's true.

  • I wonder why they made the gas tube float on the galil and valmet opposed to the AK with a gas tube that locks in.

  • you can take an ak 47 bolt carrier and use it with your galil if you have a quad rail it helps so you don't scrape up your knuckles. just change out the piston. the ak 47 bolt itself is not universal to the galil.

  • nice tutorial, definitely helpful for those without prior experience/first hand knowledge.

  • its just like taking apart an ak

  • how much is a galil and are they good like what are some ups and downs about it

  • You can get one for 600 now, most are built by Century on a American receiver with Israeli parts nowadays, they are one of the most accurate AK variants you can get and milled receiver. Downside is that you can only use Galil mags with the gun and there doesn't seem to be interchangeable parts from other AK platforms.

  • @PILMAN acutally you can get an adaptor that lets Galils accept standard AR mags, they are about $160 dollars, check them out on google

  • It says 223, but I am wondering if you can shoot 5.56 through them. thanks

  • I've shot 5.56 through it without a problem.

  • @PILMAN My Golani says 5.56 on the side, I wonder if they switched the markings in the later runs?

  • I have A Galil ARM in 7.62 X 51 nato.

Got it around 1985 new , best gun I have .

  • Im gona get me one of thoughs.

  • NOW IS FABRICARE FOR INDUMIL COLOMBIA

  • similar to field stripping an ak-47

  • damn, its practically a rip off of the ak-47

  • Yeah thats excatly what it is the isralis took the AK47's that the other aribic countries were using and put their own spin on it and in the end made a a better more accurate weapon

  • reliability of an ak but accuracy of an ar15?

  • Yeah essentially pretty much.

  • not quite, there is no best of all worlds or one size fits all

  • yeah thats what i thought. With the receiver cover

  • is the field strip conducted exactly as with the IMI Galil version?

going to israel soon and i might be conducted with handling galils, just wonder if i could teach the field strip completely from this video, or if it is a better way to do it @ the net.

    thank you sir.

  • Yes, exactly the same.

  • dude how it is possible you have a galil in your home?? is that for self defense our hunting at the weekend?

  • In US you can own firearms that qualify under 922(r) and contain 16" or more barrel, and fire semi automatic. You can also own machine guns in most states but need a NFA tax stamp/

  • I want a Galil. AK47 is overrated. Galil is way more accurate while firing fairly powerful rounds.

  • galil offers the 5.56 round which is fundamentally more accurate and has longer range then the 7.62x39mm that the ak, uses.

the sights on the galil are better, (peep sights) the same exact sights that you will see on an M-16/M4.

apart from that, its the same design.

  • its for whatever the fuck he wants it to be for. so long as he doesn't deprive you or anyone else of their rights to life and liberty.

I have an sks and two mosin nagants in my closet. soon I'll have a .45. is that a problem for you?

  • Don't use steel case ammo in the Galil. Wolf 223 resin deposits in the chamber with each shot. The gun will fire perfectly for a while, but eventually a case will jam in the chamber. When I say jam I mean JAM! Like it feels like it's welded in JAM. You may need a gunsmith to remove it.... Respect your weapon. Stick with brass cases.

DON'T USE RUSSIAN AMMO IN A GALIL. PERIOD.

  • I heard about those cases not sealing the chamber properly (steel cases hardly expand) and carbon fouling in the chamber causing jams. Cleaning the chamber before using brass ammo (that will expand and stick to the carbon fouling) seems to do the trick. Oh well, I'll know better when the Army will so kindly issue a Galil to me.

  • dear lord its prety much a ak! the isrelis did build that gun on the premisis of an ak

  • hey budy u seem to know a bit about the galil tell me would it be ok to use wolf 223. steel cased ammo through one because i know if u do on an AR it will destroy the shell deflector and do much more harm to an AR but what about a Galil because i have been getting mixed reviews about useing thanks for your time reading this and good video.

  • I use wolf .223 steel cased polymer, it'll fire no problem. It's just a bit dirty. I've fired hundreds of rounds of that stuff without a problem.

  • 1:16 wtf?

  • Error in the video

  • A weapon like this should get the respect it deserves. Strip it on a table or on the floor for fuck's sake. This guy's decorator should get shot.

  • More like hallstripping haha :D

Sweet gun dude, i want airsoft of it.

  • @TheJustOneOnlyOne lol gaysoft is a waste of time an money.

  • I WANT ONE!

  • Nice Galil PILMAN. I am about ready to buy the Century Golani. I bought a gun from ORF a few years ago and their customer service is terrible. I never bought there again.

  • who name it guilty.

  • Thanks for the video. It really helped. I still have trouble getting that damn dust cover on.

  • I can't get my dust cover back on without banging the hell out of it with a rubber mallot... Must be a common problem.

  • @OSUCop The cover is a bitch to get on but you shouldnt have to pound it, line up your cover with the front groves and right before you press it down in the rear, push in the recoil spring from the rear with your thumb and pop the rear of the dust cover on until it fits the grooves and the recoil spring will pop into place, that's how I did it.

  • @PILMAN i had the same problem with my AK, ended up using a file on the back of the dust cover to get it to fit into the groves easier

  • @OSUCop First, line the release pin @ the back just below the groove that it fits in, then pushing the dust cover forward, making sure you have it lined up correctly into the slot where the gas tube lines up, then pull back quickly on the charging handle,, this will allow the cover release to move up and into its slot. Cycle the bolt to assure it cycles correctly. This is a trick a Marine Colonial showed me that works well with the AK 47, and it works just as well in this format

  • I always viewed the Galil to be a "NATO AK"!

  • nato? since when Israel became a nato member? same about switzerland. both producing kinda AK rifles

  • its also has improvements like the ambidextrous selector and the rear iron sight

  • but i have to say "Galil is the sexiest AK has been ever made". Just look at this beast :) Sexy bitch :)

  • It makes the liberals shit their pants, good enough for me.

  • I got to say that the Galil kicks ass!

  • also intersting why always compare with all the first AK-47? arent there any new AKs for sell by IZHMASH? Look at russian made AK-100 serie they have NO recoil at all that Galil has. Galil is also heavy. The heaviest AK-Type rifle on market, about 4.1 kg.

  • I agree it's a bit heavy for a 5.56 x 45 type rifle, but the .308 version is pretty nice.

  • Well the AK100s have a muzzle brake on them.

  • Man Galil is not better then AKM, there are lot of custom AKM made by russians with "special features" so what? the IZHMASH Factory chif told they wont produse custom AKMs, only standart ones for military. If someone wants to have special features go to small arms firmas and pay for it. its logical.

  • It's not necessarily better but it is basically a AK47 (AKM) with improved features. Milled receiver, improved peep sights, improved ergonomics (handguard, pistol grip), similar FAL style folding stock and improved safety. Much of that could be considered an improvement although it is still technically an AK47 variant.

  • take an ak, make the bolt carrier and assembly more refined, get a better mounted buttstock, build it with better quality ,and u got urself a Galil.

  • Your missing the point, the Galil has specific features not found on an AK. The receiver is milled but in a different shape, charging handle upturned, gas tube is not held on by latch it's held on by dust cover, pistol grip/handguard furniture different, sights are peep sights, flashhider different, gas block different, stock is steel folding, safety is thumb safety opposed to just side safety, mags are different as well.

  • haha remember 8 months ago"Yes, very easy to fieldstrip and clean. It's pretty much identical to the AK47, I only wish the video came out a bit more clear on youtube. -pilman"

yes ur right about the cosmetic differences, but there seriously no big jumps from the ak47 design, apart from the way the gas tube is held on. nice video thou.

  • can you get pictanny rails for this?

  • Sure... but why?

  • Already have a Hungarian AK variant AMD-65 from centerfiresystems (Century). Would you recommend one of these Century "Galils" over a Bushmaster M4 clone?

  • Mine isn't century, but I can't say I would recommend it over a Bushmaster M4 clone. I've heard the century built galils have improved a lot and if there are problems, they will exhcange it. Other than that, there are known problems that have affected people and tainted ORF's reputation such as heattreating issues and bolt not touching both lugs in the receiver, or the ejector mushrooming. Supposedly these problems are fixed, but i'd go with the m4 if you don't have one already.

  • Bushy m4 clone defiantly.

  • btw pilman it's look like you have a very fine rifle. How did you pay and is it milled?

  • yes it is milled.

  • Shame that IDF replaced them with the M-16s, maybe Tavor is better but I like old guns more, they're both more reliable and solid.

  • My understanding is that the Tavor is pretty reliable though it hasn't been around long enough to really say. Oddly the Galil is newer than the m16.

  • Yes it was developed after AR-15, but the later was first mass produced "plastic" gun. Well atleast not resembling FAMAS. Tavor has one great adventage over M-16 - It's Israeli.

I wonder if IMI will do her in 7.62mm too.

  • Not sure how where it was developed would imply it's better. Doubtful it will use 7.62, I don't believe it's a standard NATO round.

  • Can you buy automatic weapons in the US?

  • Semi-Automatic yes, fully automatic it depends on the state, they been regulated since 1986 and therefore are quite expensive due to demand plus need ATF tax stamp.

  • Why do you need automatic weapon as a civilian?

I was 3 fucken years in the army (ans still

in as a reserve) and I had "GLILON"

(the short version of GALIL) and it was

    enough for me.

  • Why does it matter? I have the right to bear arms in America, I don't need to explain why I need automatic weapons.

  • You are right.

  • It's too bad they force you to fight, unwilling soldiers don't make good fighters.

  • this IS a spoof of the AK-47

undoubdtedly so , because once you've had this weapon you'll never go back to the AK-47 or AK-74 simply because the 5.56mm calibre has a far more accurate sting than the crude little AKs

  • where can i get one of these babes;)?

  • I had mine custom built from parts kit and ORF receiver, you can get them on Ohio Rapid Fires website or on aimsurplus (sold under Century)

  • I found a video here on youtube called: "History - Israeli Small Arms"

It puts the UZI, the Galil and Tavor in context.

Awsome. You should be proud to have that Galil in your collection.

    5 star video, man.

  • Good video and a sharp-looking gun.

  • Sweet looking weapon. Now heres what you're gonna do, you shall box this weapon and send it to me so I can enjoy it for you. I can send you pictures of ME having fun with it.

  • No tools, huh? Very nice. I'll have to do some research because I know nothing about the Galil.

A real beauty though. Good job. Safety first.

  • Yes, very easy to fieldstrip and clean. It's pretty much identical to the AK47, I only wish the video came out a bit more clear on youtube.
