  • awkward i forgot my guitar, where do my hands go?

    This was great though!

  • holy shit, 480p sounds 234092384032948x better than 360p

  • Fantastic!

  • he can sing any song

  • his voice is gold. pure freakin gold.

  • The sax is great. John Mayer's "Father's Be good to your Daughters", great song. But for a cover of Frank Sinatra, John really lacks gravitas. Few if any can compare to the Chairman of the Board.

  • I think he feels like ricky bobby without his guitar

  • it's strange to see john without a guitar

  • john mayer the musical johnny depp?

  • @CopoeiraBernardo Indeed!

  • yeah finally seeing John Mayer naked..meaning without his guitar - here goes my boy :D xx Dewi

  • It's odd to see Mayer without a guitar. I wonder if he was nervous to be on stage without it? Either way, he sings the song well.

  • We have this bluray. What a great concert!!

  • Mayer is good singing a great song with a great arrangement backed up by a great band......... a little chet baker sound working........

  • impressive...

  • Anyone think Buble had a lump in his throat having heard this?

  • You know your the man when you get a standing o for walking on stage.

  • This song is beautiful... the lyrics remind me of my relationship with my ex.... crazy!

  • wow botti has some smooth trumpet playing! and so weird hearing john mayer sing jazz..

  • amazing

  • Thank You John

  • What an incredibly eclectic and talented man.

  • can't get better then this!!!

  • the look oh johns face..

  • fuck i love this.

  • Next thing you know, he'll be releasing a rap album

  • @zenyricardo hahah lol and it'll have bittersweet with kayne west on it

  • John Mayer can and will do it all, if he hasn't already.

  • 10 people are jealous hes so talented

  • Wow, this is great! Thank you! John can play about any genre- the consummate musician!

  • Wow, this is great! Thank you!

  • mmmm john mayer and chris botti? love em...sexy men

  • Beautiful! Such a talent!

  • Better than I thought it would be. I grew listening to the original"Wee Small Hours" record. I've always thought John's voice was decent, but too breathy - lacking the resonance of a great singer from Sinatra's era. He seems like he's put a lot lot more practice into his guitar technique than his vocal instrument (like most modern singers).

That said; his phrasing and obvious reverence for this song tells me that he knows something about this style and can express it pretty well. Kudos...

  • @starskydinnerfig I think he primarily see's himself as a guitarist first, singer second so spending most of his time on the guitar makes logical sense

  • amazing!just to listen and enjoy

  • What is special about John is that he adds the taste for jazz and blues to his pop songs. Though his performances are better when playing live (because the solos last longer, and because he gets posessed with his strat, etc), he's undoubtedly a unique artist. How many pop singers add blues solos or jazz melodies to their songs? Think about it.

  • Unfortunate the playback is 'glitchy' in a couple of places...

  • A wonderful Rodgers and Hart song, which is why it has such biting classy lyrics.

  • Good job.

  • He's singing so much better

  • TALENT plus GORGEOUS= BOTTI and MAYER

  • magnifique!!!

  • Never seen John, but saw Chris in Dallas a couple of year ago... with Dallas Symph.... dude owned it cant wait ta see him again!

  • @vampireguppy I have tickets to see him in Feb in St Louis :) can't wait, and taking my cd's also.....

  • Simply amazing. I have listened to to John, but never have i experienced him at this level. For those who have doubts of his jazz vocal talent, get over it. He is simply amazing.

  • Perfection!

  • It's not jazz and it's nor Sinatra! It's John Mayer and Chris Botti! Stop to compare!!!

  • Mayer can do Sinatra well. Love this shit.

  • meh, john mayer is awesome but he's not good for singing jazz. Nice try.

  • Botti's chops are really exceptional. It is good to see that Mayer has real vocal skills.

  • This goes beyond awesome, Frank himself would have been proud to see it done so well by someone so young!!! OUTSTANDING

  • This album (In The Wee Small Hours) is a simply amazing record, quintessential music for anyone with any musical appreciation.

  • All I read here is John.......but what about Chris? I was googling Chris and it's this pearl I found. Love it |!!!

  • hey, jazz timing is not easy, especially when covering someone who didnt know music, timing, or pitches....sinatra had to memorize his music-n a blue phenomenon like john to capture a jazz feel is kind of remarkable. think back who else has done it good besides ray charles?

  • I heard john mayer say to herbie hancock that he couldn't do jazz, he would only butcher it" but that is not the case here he differently has the chops, for jazz, i too would like to hear more of the Jazz side of John...so utterly talented.

  • you must have practiced John

  • dit slaat alles! zo talentvol! ik ben sprakeloos......

  • wait, he looks like Orlando Bloom here ...

  • What a wonderful collaboration....perfect!

  • Dang he looks awkward without a guitar, but Dang! he can sing sinatra well.

  • Nicee!

  • completley fucking ILLLL son... dont talk shit!!!1 cause if you do you dont kn ow music... he sang that shit with soul.. go on papa!!! john mayer.. fuck

  • If they play this song at work...I will NEVER get any work done!

  • this is so COOL and that is really HOT..

  • I'M BLOWN AWAY BY CHRIS' AND JOHN'S PERFORMANCE!

  • I wanna attend that kind of party!

  • Im definately not a John Mayer fan, but this suites John like a surgical glove.... This coupled with the Eric Clapton "Cross-Roads" concert performance increases my respect exponentially for John.

  • I was surprised to hear this...very impressed with the fact that he is singing without a guitar in his hands. I love jazz and this makes me appreciate JM even more that I do. Great collaboration with Botti. I would love to see JM record some classic jazz. Love you JM.

  • is there anything john can't do??

    god i love him.

  • Once again I'm blowned away by Mayer's talent..

Every video I watch with him gives me inspiration.

  • With Jazzzzzzzz its all about Tone and tambour ....mixed with sensual sugar and spice dipped in Velvetteeee Cccc...chocolate,,,,he sounds great to me..Smokey , raspy and real....I am impressed he sang it this well!!! yeah baby yeah!!!!

  • Great performance, but man, those hiccups in the video are SO bloody annoying...

  • @PoprocksCk I agree agout the "hiccups" or buffering interruptions in the video. I've noticed it more and more and wonder if more people are experienced this annoyance. I'm thinking it may be the ISP -- do you have Verizon?

  • @Elliot84 I disagree, I think he absolutely nailed it.

  • @PoprocksCk. he doesn't sing in tune

  • @Elliot84 very true, his phrasing is not on the off beats, well they are, but not on the back of the off beats that most jazz singers have. also his vocal inflections as far as crescendoes and they way he starts and stops his phrases leaves something to be desired.

even though he went to Berklee, you can tell he doesn't have his comfort zone in jazz, but hell, give him a few years, he'll be one of the best if he chooses.

  • Please somebody, fix this broken video! Please, it's too wonderful to have it chopped up.

  • Chris Botti is too good to be true. So is he gay, then?

  • Were the High Notes Like Frank Sinatra singing MY WAY? ...Beatifull but insuficient...

  • I'm just now getting into this genre. I've known about Mayer, who hasent? but I really enjoy this stuff. and I'd like to hear more of the other artists that do as good of a job

if anyone can forward me some videos or tell me what to search I'd be very thankful.

  • love it

the most talented singer john mayer and trumpetist chris botti love e'm both!!

  • 2 of my favorite guys on stage together...itdoesnt get better than that!

  • suave, cool, sexy....this awesome combination can kill.....

  • Oh geez I think I'm in love... I love Sinatra! He's my favorite singer, actor, man.. Abd the fact that he just sang a Siinatra song sooo beautifully... Ah I can't help but love Mayer even more!

  • John singing Sinatra? Now I've seen it all

  • @fluffymczips Nah, if u heard someone like Axel Rose sing Sinatra then you would have seen/heard it all;)

  • che musica fantastica... bravo chrisss, ma a catania quando verrai?

  • A fantastic duet by two great musicians. However, several major glitches mar this video. Two that are particularly sad: one occurs at 3:40, which ruins the lyric "With no Mammy and no Pappy." Another at 5:45 which ruins the comeback by Chris Botti on his horn to sum up after Mayer's fantastic close. I wish someone would fix these (and the rest too!).

  • john definitely has a talent for singing jazz, i would love to see him cut an album of jazz standards

  • @beohr His summer tour sounds really jazzy compared to what his live stuff normally sounds like.

  • @beohr First i'd love to hear an album completely dedicated to the blues. None of his pop stuff...its good but his blues is where his heart is and you can feel it.

  • @Andyvswild Last year he said that he wasn´t going to do the pop stuff for a while, anda that is next album was going to be folk.

  • @anaritacardodo boo. i've heard most of that stuff on youtube, and i don't think his strength lies here. but that's typical john, lover of music as a whole.

  • @Andyvswild he's actually more of a jazz musician, in my opinion.. he can play the blues, but his style is definitely more jazz oriented.

  • @bjhMus1C lol no

  • Jm's a pretty good singer in my opinion. Im completely amazed by his softly controlled transgression to falsetto. XD

  • Throw him a guitar!!

  • hey i gave you a thumbs up

but the awesome thing is thing is he doesn't even need it

  • mayer sounds pretty good.

i bet he feels weird without a guitar.

  • What a total treat!!! Great arrangement, great vocal....and if anybody has missed Sinatras "Wee Small Hours" cd or record--GET IT!!!!

  • Folks, the talent is 110% but we must someday realize that the love that fulfills man's ultimate desire must be the one saying:"I can save you from ever being unhappy whether 99 trillion people say "oh that's impossible" or not. The main reason is: We do not have the luxury to be sad when 20,000 people died of hunger today and WE have all the resources to fix it. Please understand for their sake. This is actually a very kind comment. Thank you for receiving me.

  • Chris has good music and and good punches. He beat the CRAP out of out of some dude yesterday night in NYC after he called him a nigger , the guy was demolished. TMZ posted the video at tmzfights. com

  • Mayer is great...how classy.....I think Botti totally has the ability to hear other artists in different styles and understates their already incredible talents.....an artist's artist.

  • i always hear john mayer say in interviews that he doesn't consider himself a very strong singer and that his range isn't that great but i dont know what he's talking about he sounds pretty wonderful to me!

  • i love john mayer! both him and chris do an amazing job!

  • your opinion is wrong

  • your opinion of my opinion is wrong

  • I'm a little iffy on John Mayer sometimes, but he did an amazing job singing this! Sinatra is a tough act to follow but I think Mayer definitely did this song justice! This would have been an incredible concert to see!!! Chris Botti on his own would be amazing but the people he featured in this special are all amazing! :)

  • john & chris .... how nice .

  • chris botti is a master trumpet player no other trumpeteer is on his level. much love chris-

  • it feels weird seeing john mayer perform without his guitar. but this song still really grabbed me. very nice!!

  • love you Chris :)

  • They should do a Christmas album!

  • John Mayer performed this song his way a true artist should...not to be compared to Sinatra. Beautiful voice and great musicians.

  • I was doing my homework, then came out to see my parents watching this. John's voice doesn't come close to Sinatra's, but he did a pretty good job.

Botti did nicely too, and I think the Pops did a fair job with the mood music.

  • I am in love with Chris Botti, i would give anything to see him live in concert. And this song just amazes me.

  • same here :(:(

  • oh my..I couldn't catch my breathe,I swear!!

  • Jazz singer Nancy Wilson does a great version, too.

  • Billie Holiday did this song.

  • this is the first time I've ever seen him without his guitar!

  • GOOD JOB GUYS!!! YEEEEAAAA YEEEEAAA!

  • good music for the soul

  • Agree, no where near Sinatra but way ahead of Buble. If you listen the Sinatra version after this you can really hear how deep of a voice Sinatra had. But you gotta love Mayer, great effort!

  • I like this, but I think John's voice is too thin for Jazz. This could be because I have an expectation to hear a Sinatra! Anyway, I think he did a good job for pop singer.

  • i love john mayer but chris botti! ahhhh!

i LOVE the trumpet and ughh <3

i love that im a music school and i love it that i play trumpet and i love it ALL!

  • Chris is just a MAGICIAN....

i can't help listening to his Music...

  • john's voice is awesome for this song and i love sinatra and all of those guys and he looks so awkward without a guitar almost like he doesnt know what to do with his hands

  • John Mayer here is much more better than michael Buble that is almost funny. Amazing

  • A nice performance, I hope Chris does a live PBS performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra someday.

  • His performance is so classy! I had no idea that he had this genre in his voice too. He captures the mood so well. Chills!

  • pshhh

  • billie holiday is probably 20 thousand times better then this version !

  • What a Stunning perfomance!!well done both of you!!!

  • Well, I am probably showing my ignorance as far as music goes but I've never cared for John Mayer's voice. I don't undertand how the Grammy's work, because I find it hard to believe that Mayer has won so many Grammys and Botti has won only one. I've never been so touched in my life then by Botti's music. The older he gets, the better is music gets. He puts on one of the best shows I have ever seen. Hopefully, his day is coming. Needless to say, this is a very nice video.

  • first time watch he sings without guitar

  • John Mayer is such an musical inspiration.

  • i hope your kidding

  • In this setting, agreed. But then again i'm a jazz musician and archivist, so it's hard to please me. On the other hand, Mayer does it for me in any other setting 100%

  • you're cool

  • WOW.....this man can "do" music in any genre...... WOW

  • John Mayer is great... but you should see this same song performed by 18-year old Kate Davis at the Kennedy Center. SHE is AMAZING!!!

  • It is weird to not see him with his guitar, but damn he's amazing. His voice make's me blush, lol.

  • He's showing his versatility! Great music!

  • John never ceases to amaze me, the fact that he's not afraid to step out the box and open up his musical abilities to a wide range of genres truly shows what an amazing talent he really is.

  • he looks so freakin hot!

    i love his voice

  • weird without the guitar but i can dig it....smooth

  • damn john is naked XD

  • looks naked without a guitar ^_^

  • Ive never seen him perform without a guitar. ever. this is awesome!

  • even if he doesnt play it, he always has one with him.. usually :D

  • yeah good call! lol!

  • Search "new song leak".

  • Yeah Ive seen it... its hilarious!

  • seen what? I wanna see?

    lol

Its odd without him playin with his bad with a guitar in hand but I like it. Its new. Another sidee of John Mayer.

    His voice is gorgeous

  • ...so there is a song for how i'm feeling. my philosophy is "if there is a song for it you're not a freak, or at least you're not the only freak out there."

  • thats honestly the best statement ive ever read on youtube

  • ...It's just the way i feel. i've had an unrequited love for someone i can't be in love with for almost 4 years now.

No matter what they say, time doesn't change anything, especially not your feelings for someone when you love them with every ounce of your heart. I know its impossible...but i still dream of a way...somehow....just to hold her.

"i can't win...but here I am, more than glad to be unhappy." "...for someone you adore, it's a pleasure to be sad."

  • hey bro i know how u feel and i have been in that situation before, but one thing you have to realize is that u deserve to be happy, wether it is with that person or not.

    you owe it to yourself

  • They both are soooooo cooooool!

  • so glad to be unhappy

  • Botti looks so cool at 2:34, really enjoying the music + Johns voice.

  • Is this a 5 strings-contrabass?

  • Was that a 5 string stand up bass?!?

  • you just have to late goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
