  • they didn't let you play it because they don't like metal. i have the same situation at my school when i wanted to play master of puppets at my school

  • I darn sure enjoyed it!

  • Good Job!!

    This kids in 8th Grade???

  • So much distortion . . .

  • Nice take on a Classic !

  • Yeah That not bad at all. Keep playing man. Let the fire inside you keep on burning.

  • good fretting but your picking needs some improvement other than that good job!

  • Great performance from an 8th grader. Just need to clean up a few tiny mistakes and do away with the whammy bar. The original has no whammy bar.

  • I love how it's Ozzy at Holy Rosary school lol ROCK ON!!

  • that guitar looks sick, i have an RG1570

  • Hey play me some classcal gas haha your mason willaims right...

  • i hate it in school when they always cut out the guitar leads. in my school, we were gonna play stairway to heaven, and the solo was played by the saxaphone player not me on the guitar XD

  • close.

    ?

  • Fuck Yeah dude!

  • A few mistakes but its preety good!

    keep it up

  • u got good potential kid, just play the song right and it would have been perfect, and i aggree with superbad1324 it was a little too scrathy

  • this kid is about 16 or 17 now

  • who cares how old he is

  • I care

  • Sonuded a little scrathy on the palm muting but other wise KICK ASS!

  • oh yes lets all obey "the description" whatever the "description" says is right and true and almighty, the description says its greatest bark at the moon cover ever, WE MUST BELIVE IT" hes only said its not 100% rendition or carbon whatever the fuck your on about is coz he cant do it properly obv coz in this vid he would, "READ THE DESCRIPTION YOU ASDAN" i wont fucking read the fucking description , th descripitions fucking bullshit, just like what you just said

  • He was only 14 tho. give him 6 more years..?

  • thats not the point, its not ment to be a carbon copy of the orginal.

    Read the Description you asdan.

  • Amazing over, but rid yourself of the funny scratching sound.

  • great job!!! i enjoyed every minute of it. keep it up!!

  • he looks like hes from the 80s

  • flawless holy shit ur a god

  • I worship you!

  • it was most impressive

  • Hey man, that's amazing, good job !.

  • pretty decent for a live performance i rekon, few sections are pretty sloppy tho, well they might nt have been they just sounded it

  • thats some pretty heavy distortion ya got there

  • and my ass is chiken

  • littleone7788 - Abe Lincoln once said "It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"

You just proved to the world that you're a complete ass.

  • XD that was complete and total PWNAGE

  • wise words...

  • non mais attends bonhomme please wait few minutes you are out tempo and you said you played guitar since seven hears hahahaha powerchords with three fingers MY EYEEEEE

  • ehh,

im pretty sure he used those effects so he could get that pinch harmonic, and probably used alot of distortion to also cover up sloppy playing.

  • ehh,

BasicSquid - I'm pretty sure he just got out on stage in front of hundreds of people and did the best he could. Probably not up to your great standards, but I bet he'll get over not pleasing you somehow.

  • pretty sure thats from the line out you idiot.

  • hey man forget the people criticizing u. like they can it. when u all learn to do it better than start talking.

  • I have, and that's why I say that. I'm not saying that he plays bad, just that the effects and guitar he used then was. And I already know how to play it anyway, so...I 'unno.

  • Wait... you think the JS is bad...? The distortion is bad, bu the JS is such a good guitar, very good sounding and easy playing.

  • Good as far as the playing, but some of the cover spots and the guitar/guitar effects used sucked pretty bad. The extra chords in each chorus, the sustains in the final solo, and the first solo weren't all that great back then. :/

  • pretty cool. but im younger than you and i can play it. but still sick!

  • you seriously need 2 work on your palm muting.

  • js 1000 is just not a good guitar for metal.

  • that was okay kinda choppy but okay

  • Don't listen to half those YOYO'S. You kicked ass!!

  • oh yeah, this guy's gonna have drug problems sometime in his life

  • thats pretty damn good rhythm guitar for an 8th grader.

  • Killer

  • shit dude, that was bitchin'! Keep it up man

  • wait what holy rosary is that?

  • lol that was some crunchy shit man, but it was hella pro very nice

  • that is the coolest ever man. keep up the good work.

  • sweet ;]

  • that was really good keep it up

  • kck fucking ass! lemme offer you advice though. dude below me is right. your palm mutes sound like balls. and the arpeggio part of the solo is wrong too. but ehy, you sound kick as though. personally I have problems with the introduction, but the rest of the song is easy as hell. Kepe it up, dude

  • work on the palms.. i see that your mutes are way too far away from the bridge.. that's why all your "PM" notes are all muted out and it sounds like crap.. overall, good..

  • Dude, you really rock. Put wax in your hair and play girls to bed;) Cheers

  • cool nice work

  • damn man ha ha

  • Damn, great job!

  • GREAT GUITAR PLAYING man

just dont be tacky! ahah good job though! ur fantastic...my guitar work isnt very well on my utube acount, but u should see me now, cuz i improved very much im gonna add a video rite now with my latest guitar solo

  • very cool dude just work on timing and accuracy...

  • dude nnice playing, but u need to get the look of a rocker

  • Great job!! Keep up the good work!!

  • Dude, That is SICK!!!!

  • Having Troy Clark as your teacher must be a real blast! I'd LOVE to sit with Troy sometime. Listen to HIM...HE knows what he's doing. And you are living proof that Troy does good work :)

  • Mason, this was indeed a treat! The only negative thing I would have to say is there seems to be a lot of noise coming through from your pick when you're picking fast. That is probably a signal processor setting...but that is small potatoes. You're doing fantastic, buddy! A lot of people want to get into your business and nit-pick you to pieces about technique...don't listen to them unless they have their own vids posted. I give you 5's. LC

  • Absolutely agree with you 110%.

  • Mason, i eard the really incredible improvement on you're last video... great!

One thing remain to sound exactly like Jake or Zakk: the wild-pinched harmonics & vibratos... but this stuff come from the heart of the guitarist: I think you are too young and happy to own the instrument with that violence... so, you play with your soul, and that's allright!

    * all in my opinion *

    HI!!!!!!!!!

  • Solo is off in the basis! -- wrong bends and vibratos; -- picking technique on ascendening runs is "always down" on every changed string, not alternate as you make it!

  • I pick that way because I saw it in an instructional video done by Paul Gilbert.

The video said you should always continue the stroke your on. For example, you pick four notes: up, down, up, down; your next note should be an upstroke when you change strings.

Of course, I'm just a student and I'm trying to learn as much as I can on my own. Thanks for your imput. I do appreciate it.

  • I said that to you 'cause you're incredible talented guy and I know for sure you can improve lots more! I saw you're Gilbert's influences, but this song requires a different feel: this old school started from Joe Pass, then goes to Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Yngwie Malmsteen and finally Jake E. Lee and Zakk Wylde.

You can see Joe Pass Instructional I here on youtube, or Zakk Wylde Pentatonic Hardcore vol I: they both explain their picking style very well!

    Hi!!!!

  • @Slash980 hey man when the world is perfect like you, well all join your band. i enjoyed watchin him play as much as he enjoyed playin it... guess everyones a critic..the croud sure didnt seem to mind..and it aint cool to break someones spirit just cus your not happy with yourself.....your lame enough to call yourself slash...dick!

  • That rocked! How long you been playing?

  • 6 years - I started when I was 8, I'm 14 now.

  • Great

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • Great job!!

  • I wish i was that good at that age. Took me until i was 25 to play that song. lol

  • I don't know American grades, how old are you? I don't think it's a bad effort at all, don't let all the Juliards pretenders get you down, let them share their gift with Youtube by posting the same composition you played, but obviously without the mistakes they felt obliged to point out.

  • hes probaly 14 or 15

  • nice!!

  • As a distiguish allumni of the prestigious school of Van Halen where if it sounds good it is good. Your performance has brought my right hand up in a heavy metal salute and caused my head to bow down.

  • falkrik.. falkrik.. falkrik.. As a graduate honours student at julliard, and after schooling with the Great Kat, i think i know my way around the guitar quite nicely.. and to be quite frank with you falkrik.. your techneque lacks in all fields. During interlude Part 1, the decended fifth was clearly not in sync with the deminished forth, exspecially with the vibrato you pulled out. If i was you, i'd start from scratch. Go back and learn some hells bells then come play with us in the big leauges.

  • tyler666slayer..tyler666slayer..tyler666slayer..spell much, "Mr. Julliard?"

  • Oh yes my dear tyler666slayer - as a graduate of both Oxford and Harvard

(attended simultaneously while still in high-school), I concur with your

evaluation although I'm a bit shocked (and disapointed) that you missed

2 underbends and a misqued finger tip vibrato. You would think that someone

of Falkriks experience would be sensitive to the delicate nature of this

music and refrain from assaulting the ears of trained professionals such

    as we!!!

    I salute you, comrad!

  • good job

  • Good Job!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Zakk Wylde

  • Very nice but there were some spots where you had some trouble...but all in all that was good, lol i wish i could play it that good

  • good attempt but picking was horrible, try lifting the pick some more so u dont get that dragging creeching sound

  • Thanks

  • Solo was messy and outro was messsssy

And what's that annoying noise everytime you pick?

  • very good man but like others said u need to work on your picking.

  • Thanks

  • hes got the chicks.

  • do your picking technique is terrible. you need to put the pick more parallel with the string so you don't get that terrible scratching sound.

  • Thanks

  • dude sick! I can play it too, but i don't quite have it down 100%. great job! a few wrong notes here and there, but it was still an awesome show! YOU ROCK!

  • Thanks very much!

  • hey man thats prettty badass... may need to work on yo picking... kinda sounds like you r scraping the strings vs just hitting them flat on. anyways is by any chance the Houston holy rosary?

  • Thanks very much - looks like everyone else read yours!

  • haha sorry man i didnt mean to bring on the onslaught of criticism. hell thats way betetr then i could play in the 8th grade. haha i was still dishin out metallica riffs :P

  • That amp is so fucking bad. But you still rocked dude. FIGHT THE FIGHT!!! APE FIGHT!!!

  • damn it you will be a pro when you gey older

  • keep up the good work bro and keep practicing and get a new amp lol

  • just a lil work on the palmed picking but other than that AWESOME!!!!!

  • good job dude! props bro, just clean up da Solo a lil bit and your good

  • holy shit....im in 10th grade and i cant play it that accurate...dammmn

  • hey pretty damm good for your age but that sound sucks man, just turn down distortion and bass a bit but other than that man nice.!

  • keep it up and youll end up being Zakks replacement

  • You rock out loud !!!!!!!! IT`S THEM BOYZZZ!!!!!

  • 8th grade, huh? Wish I could have done that in 8th grade...great job man....

  • oh and rock on!

  • I think your school is messed up, if the reason for not letting you play in the show was because they are retarded and stuck in the paast thinking that this music leads to drugs and bad thing ect they need to get a life. Go trash the teachers cars :P

  • lol nice

  • Work on palm muting and picking technique. Other that that it's pretty close.

  • Nice. Just work on palm muting. Im in the 8th grade and it took me like two fricken weeks to learn this song. pretty hard song.

  • took me 10 min.

  • well the rythmn only takes like ten minutes but the end of the first solo is frickin hard man!

  • that is true

  • Awesome, I looked at your youtube videos and all I saw was that Avenged Sevenfold short clip - did you already take down your Bark At The Moon video???? Seriously, repost it so we can see!!!

  • i didnt post a bark at the moon vid I can play the song. but that is going to be my next vid.

  • For and 8th grade kid....pretty cool man...I couldn't do that in the 8th grade..

  • I think you are really good!!!

  • Mason, I hope some advice I heard from Steve Vai will help you take it to the next level. Bend a single note on a single fret and see how many sounds you can get out of it--harmonics, squeals, scratches, etc. Bend the hell out of it and translate what you're feeling into the bend--happiness, sadness, anger, passion, fear, disgust, joy, etc. Hour a day for several months. Also, put some noise filters in your ears. You don't want to end up with hearing loss and tinnitus.

  • Due to the 500 word limit, couldn't post everything I wanted. You don't have to do this exercise for an hour or months ... but make sure you feel like you've accomplished something that day.

  • That is great advice. Thanks.

  • the solo was not perfect but you did well

  • dude your pretty good ignore what I said earlier

check out my video and see what you think.

  • IM 13 and I can play better

  • That's great sparky! always looking for great guitarists on youtube and I can't wait to hear your version of this simple little song -- I bet you can show him how it should be done. After all, only 110 people out of 16,389 have rated it with an average of 4.5 stars and only 65 like it enough to favorite it, so go ahead, post your version! I'm sure you'll kick his butt! Also, this video was unfair, because he did it live in front of an audience and everyone knows how much easier that makes it!

  • screw you dick head

  • and also dickweed I have played in concert too and I know the pressure Im just saying it could be better. so shut your mouth dumbass. I dont see you playing it. and if you want to see me play my almost easy solo then check e out and toull see who is better

  • Very good job for your age! You should be proud of yourself.

You're right, I can't play guitar, I just like to listen to those who can.

I wouldn't say you are better, but you're pretty good for your age. It's comparing apples and oranges with "Almost Easy" vs. "Bark at the Moon" though - your piece was short at 57 seconds and done to the actual recording instead of a backing track too, but still good. Keep up the good work.

  • freakin amazing i wish i couldve played like that when was in eigth grade hell i wish i could i play like that now

keep it up man and someday your gonna be world famous

and how long have you been playin?

  • nice

it is a shame that the school wouldn't let you play in front of your friends....Sue them~! First Amendment Rights compromised! hahahahha

yah, people dont get the true art, no matter what it is...you are very good and an "artist"

who signed your gutar strap? looks like signatures...

  • They are Joe Satriani, Tommy Emmanuel, Laurance Juber, Joe Bonamassa, "La Vienta", Scott Goldberg, Mark Selbi, Tim Reynolds, Sonny Landreth, and John Jorgenson

  • very very cool....

how did that happen? how did you get them to sign that strap? those are some pretty big names!!!!

    Rokkitt

  • They all played at a guitar festival in Colorado called "Guitar Town." The first day was acousic and the second was electric. I got every performer's autograph and I got my picture taken with them too. It was awesome!

  • true

  • I think one of them satriani's signature

  • you're right - the one closest to the stap lock is Satch's, he's my favorite guitarist.

  • good job for his age except the tremolo picking sounded like scratches. good job otherwise tho

  • nice performance 4 ur age ! congratulations !

  • Don't kids your age usually play those awful punk/pop rock garbage (or don't play guitar at all...)?

wow, that was pretty amazing (even more so for your age!)

  • ur right, btw punk music= gayness, its all power chords and palm muting oopen string picking

  • ur good kid keep it up

  • yeah his picking is wrong... the 2nd part of solo didnt sound too good because of that

but hey i cant do that so nice job man

  • your picking is wrong, you need to work on your palm mute but good job

  • holy crap....I can't play that well...god!!..

  • very impressive for an eighth grader.

  • Very much so in awe.

  • Damn dude...you ought to grow your hair long and play in a Ozzy tribute band. You're very good on ozzy material.

  • Are you any relations to the Msoin Williams that wrote Classical Gas in the 70's

    Regardless that was AWESOME!!!

  • Thats pretty damn good for an 8th grader.

And EWE blows goats great job kid.
