Desk Tapes often end up sounding this way. The drums and vocals are running through the desk harder than guitars and bass. It sometimes pays to run a room mic as well and mix the two together.

Nope, the sound is from the soundboard at the concert. The people who mixed it have just turned the drums volume way up.
