  • Why? Why? Why? lol..........

  • you made the theme song sound like MACARTHUR PARK....i digress.

"land of the lost" was so silly that you had to love it...i'd sit in a contented daze watching it back in the 70's. as i recall it wasn't a cool show to watch, so i made it a guilty pleasure. something was lost with the advent of computer animation and hi tech....

  • Loved this old show. Sonner or later I'm going to buy the series, and DAMN Will Ferrell for making it a stupid, STUPID comedy. Worse movie I've ever watched 15 minutes of and shut off.

  • Very interesting Theory! I like it!

    Heheheh

I LOVED watching that show! Crazy shit!

    LOL

I also loved watching The Bugaloos, and H.R. Pufnstuf...

They just don't make shows like that anymore....

    le sigh......

  • @utubesuperstation Small words from a small man. Enjoy your juvenility. See if it's so funny when you're 50 and still alone and desperate.

  • Say this is a blog in the title and stop wasting peoples time jackass!

  • Actually, we don't know for certain what happened to all three of them. This review is highly conjectural. Rick Marshall got back to our world, but Will and Holly had to stay longer in the Land of the Lost with Uncle Jack to replace their father. But at the end of the series, nothing is said about the fate of any of them.

  • Please don't be offended,

but having grown up on this series as a child & hearing your ending to the tale, upit ending totally sucks!

  • This was one of my favorite programs from my childhood ... I'd never really thought it through to the logical conclusion ...

Still, I'd rather be eaten by dinosaurs in the Land Of the Lost than watch the Will Ferrell version.

  • @DakotaWRS3 ..are you kidding me? Will Ferrels probably as old as you....

  • @001001sith, actually no. I'm three years older than Will Ferrell.

We do, however, have about the same acting talent: i.e. very little indeed. :D

  • Also the family moved from living in a cave to an abandoned temple. So who knows where they would have resided if there were a fourth or seventh season. And judging by the upbeat attitude of the creaters, I think it would be a safe bet they would eventually leave the Land of the Lost.

  • Me thinks Brian black reads way too much into the Saturday Morning Krofft Kid show and yet he is puzzled by it's giant lapses in logic. Brian states he only rented the first season but if he watched all three he might notice the series ends abruptly so we don't know the Martial family never escape. You'll also notice people from different times ( and potentially different worlds) were always poping into the land of the lost so even Enik's laws weren't set in stone.

  • I remember this show. I was only in Kindergarten and First Grade when it was on. I used to love it.

I also used to think Holly was so hot! Unlike most Kindergarteners who thought girls had cooties, I noticed girls at an early age and never went through that faze of not liking girls.

  • Same here guy.... I think its hilarious that a lot of kids went through that. I was always attracted to girls.... I thought that whole phase thing was weird.

  • ok...u have thougth waaaaay to long about this. It was Sat morning in the what 70's?? We didn't have round the clock cartoons so what else did we have to look forward to?? I am so gonna get the season from the "flix" place.

    I loved the crystals too!

  • agreed mommasnap. someone has wayyy too much time on their hands to dissect this series.

this series as i was talking with wesley (eure) who played will, had a lot of heart.

long before macgyver, there was land of the lost, and not unlike the short lived planet of the apes tv series (not the cartoon), land of the lost taught kids AND adults a lot about science in addition to survivalist skills, understanding and effective communication. something most kids/adults don't have a clue about today.

  • but at the end of season one, the three original characters escape, and are replaced by their counterparts in an alternate timeline. therefore, jack's appearance is a hole in the story, also, in the new series from the 90's, Holly is the only survivor left of the originals. Holes holes holes

  • good point dude

  • Yes. I wonder what happened too.

  • The world you describe - the "terrible, terrible life" you describe is the world where most people have lived out their lives. The "real" people in the stone age didn't have dinosaurs and sleestaks, but they didn't have the hope of possible "return" to the world of refrigerators and running water either. They had wild animals, poisonous plants, and no modern medical treatment for anything. That is where we came from, lives that were nasty, brutish and short.

  • wow, this brings it all back. i was serious about that show too

  • I watched this show as a four or five-year-old child, sitting in my mother's room at the foot of her bed, completely scared of the sleestak and mesmerized by the possibility that this could happen...Life has never been the same since. A kid knew what day of the week it was back then, because you had to know when Saturday came around to watch cartoons, man!

  • f-ing great stuff! LMAO!

  • What the gentleman stated would make a great new series!

  • Will and Holly arent Dead..!!! They might be a few years older ... but NOT dead.

They are still running away from Dinosaurs and Sleestacks but they are NOT dead !!!! Holly was wat.. 12 in 1974?? So shes around 45-50 years old now.. But NOT DEAD!!!!!

  • good grief dude!!! Are u serious!!!

  • I found a website where you can watch Land Of The Lost 2009 movie for FREE! Check it out!

    MOVIEM[dot]TV/land-of-the-lost

  • lol its a show, it didnt really happen haha

  • I loved the episode where chuka fucks holly, impregnating her and the offspring being sent back 70000 years to our dimention as the first neanderthall which mates with early humans and thus creating the sub human race known today as arabs.

  • how could you forget the episode when enik found a hole in the time warp and they escaped but at the same time they got trapped?...wait now im confused...uh..ENIK RULES!

  • I hated that little ugly prick chaka

  • I wanted to mention that I loved the intro part when the little yellow raft is going down the stream....and when all three of them are acting like they are sort of screaming as they go down the falls.

  • LOL! the dramatic song ending.

This was the best version of this original show intro I've found on utube. I also appreciated your commentary. It helped to understand some of it. That Will guy looked kind of hot. I wonder whatever happened to the original cast members? Did they go on to do other movies and stuff?

  • dont forget DC Fontana wrote an episode (Star Trek genius) that had them in the pylons where Holly met herself in the future, I know the three were exchanged for the three, but you are an asshole....You dont know the show...and your summurisation is total fuckery. Get over it. You dont even know the show so quit gabbin' 'bout it.

  • Here's another issue, their names. The song goes "Marshall, Will, and Holly....", yet their last name is Marshall. So how does the father get to be known as Rick when his name isn't mentioned in the song? Could his name have been Marshall Marshall?

  • I weep for the Marshalls. Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, I saw the episode "Circle" today and the Marshalls did get out of The Land of the Lost, but in a weird way. I believe that what we saw at the end was exactly what happened right after they went into High Bluff in the opening credits and since the name of the episode was "Circle," that can only mean one thing: We saw the whole first season. We know what's going to happen to them. We know that they will eventually get out and never return.

  • So, in a way, everything that has happened to the Marshalls during the run of the first season is going to go around in a circle, repeating itself forever. Don't worry about the original Marshalls, they're free! They are not affected by this, physically. It's just a case of time literally repeating itself in the Land of the Lost. Time will and cannot repeat itself here on this Earth, so they really won't be affected by this circle, they're home and they're free!

  • In the last episode they escaped but there was something weird where they had to be replaced so at the same time their alter persona was pulled in. See last episode for detaiuls.

  • Sick and disgusting, inform your congressman of this travesty!

  • Like it is, brother. Like it is!

  • Dude I grew up on this I missed the last episodes so they never escape? O that stinks.

  • JJ ABRAHAMS must of been a fan of LAND OF THE LOST... and turned some of his concepts of LOST from LOTL.. :) Goodness, this is all my sisters and me would watch every Saturday morning! But it sure did scare me sometimes with the child like wonder what if that really could happen! :)

  • Yes, It pretty evident that he was..."Lost Cities", Time warps and Dimensional Portals, Strange creatures, etc.

  • Great introspective look at this show. I to have fond memories of this show and your right those poor people. LOL I am looking forward to the up coming movie. BTW Great job.

  • That show scared the bejesus out of me. It certainly didn't make me want to go rafting, that's for sure. I was in KINDERGARTEN when it came out fer cry-eye. The Sleestacks scared the shit out of me. I would hide behind a chair whenever they came on screen. I wanted those pretty crystals though. They were full of colors.

  • PS- You are funny, lol

  • to the guy on the vlog you are really hot.

  • This land of the lost series always freaked me out as a kid....it was way out there and seamed to have a hidden message ..like they were trying to say something else..Holly was always scared shitless and playing with monkey boy! I would have to say some references are made to the possible colonization of underground cities on Mars ...with US citizens and ....innagration with reptilian aliens!!! not to mention interdimensional portals!!

  • This was my favorite show as a kid, it inspired me to get into scouting , then later, backpacking in the mountains. It is the ultimate adventure. You are too funny, they didn't die, they became expert survivalists & lived happily ever after in the mountains, or maybe they got to travel back to their own time when the moons aligned again & the Pylon door opened to their world. I loved this show & when I saw the DVD sets, I bought them all.. oh, & the dinosaurs were actually claymation.

    Peace!

  • HAHAHAHAAA!! This is hilarious. I can't take it completely serious although he does make some really valid points, at least from an adult perspective. The thing is though, everything he's talking about is what made LOTL GREAT. There was such an element of real life and death danger on that show that I don't remember there being on any other kid's show.

Remember when Will Marshall got electrocuted by those crystals. I thought his ass was gonna DIE. That made the show really dramatic.

  • Awesome show and I'm gonna fully geek out by saying that I'm bummed that they're remaking it into a comedy with Will Ferrell because that elementof danger is not gonna be there in the same way at all.

This clip is funnier than that movie will probably be.

  • Dont be so pessimistic!!! The kids were found by the uncle who was sent by the father after he left. The family had not been eaten which was proven by the appearance of Holly's adult self. There

were other humans that found a way through the time and space rift-

a viking and a sea captain. The Sleestak

had a city and several pylons controlling

shifts in the weather. LOL proved that

LOVE can overcome all obstacles through friendship, understanding, compassion, and trust! Peace Out

  • Holly later meets her adult self who has gotten out of the Land of the Lost.

  • I almost cried! I like this guy. So true..I think I now know where my childhood sorrow comes from....wow!

  • Actually I belive personally that "Will and Holly" had the hots for each other. If you see the Extras where they are interviewed you see her kinda all over him. That and the "sleeping bag" incodent, the massage thing, licking his nose...LOL!

  • I think the "cave" set burned down in a fire so thats why they had to move them to The Lost City for season 3. Also someone else played Rick Marshall when he got sucked thru the dimentional doorway back home. (You only see the backside of him...it was someone with a wig.) One other slestack was able to talk besides Enik. (Actually 2 if you count S'latch from season 1). The "fog" from The Longest Day made it posible to telepathically hear the other slestack.

  • Those Sleestak used to scare the living hell out of me. Now I live in Florida, and there are lizards EVERYWHERE! but Florida is the land of the lost (mortgages)

  • Actually Rick Marshall went through the doorway back to earth in the beginning of Season 3.

My theory is that he probably smashed himself into a building upon re-entry and just died. I wouldnt be surprised if Uncle Jack had sexual relations with his niece Holly and Will and Chaka found true love together.

All stupidness aside, It was a very good show despite a very low budget it had.

  • Coiny9...I have to disagree on Circle. The paradox is that they exist in two places at the same time. (Like Enik said, "You should not be here at all") It is Rick Marshal that opens" the dimentional dorway to let his other self in. 3 Have to enter for 3 to leave...even if it is the same three. So the family leaves, just as the family on the falls (in the past) enters. Notice how they react to the environent like they have never been there before.

  • Coiny9....

THERE'S A SEASON THREE????? My life has meaning again! Don't get too excited...Season 3 is without a doubt the worst of the bunch. 2 Episodes with the Abominable Snowman (by far the worst), 2 Episodes with Malak and 1 with Medusa cut away much anything worth while. Best of Season 3 I would say would be Aftershock, Repairman, Cornered, and Timestop. Only 2 DVDs with 13 episodes...and it has Uncle Jack instead of Rick Marshall.

  • You're wrong! In the last episode of Season One, Will, Holly, and Rick Marshall go through a time doorway to Earth with the help of Enik. Theyu have to switch with the Will, Holly, and Rick in the raft that is shown in the opening credits. And so begins a circle in which the three enter the land of the lost through the raft, and leave with the help of Enik. It will always happen. They all escape, and it is a never-ending circle.

  • Yet another idea to add on to the "Pylon Expres" way out. Since Enik is still arround, perhaps he could help them speed up astrological events in the Land of the Lost if he knows how to toy around with one of the two "clock pylons" in the episode Black Out from season 2.. Since removing a crystal freezes everything in the sky, perhaps there is a way to speed up the sun and moons to open the moon giver pylon from The Pylon Express early. To bad the Time Regulator pylon key got fused in Season 3

  • THERE'S A SEASON THREE????? My life has meaning again!

  • Season 3 is weird. The dad is gone, replaced by their uncle, the cave has been destroyed by an earthquake so they live in a pyramid near the sleestaks. Holly is about a foot taller but still wearing the same outfit. There are lots more guest stars and weird characters. Also, the sleestaks are talking, Chaka is talking, and Will is singing.

  • Hey, did you know that Uncle Jack was the same dude from Planet of the Apes TV show?

  • Dad would not be locked up either (or not for long). His watch kept the same time in the Land of the Lost for days, so if 10 minutes in the pylon (or hopefully being back home) is a day and a half in the Land of the Lost...from the time they use the pylon again in "The Pylon Express" the rest of them would apear 5.069 to 6.759 days later earth time. (From the end of that episode). That's less than a week! Yay!...everybody is saved! LOL!

  • Just thought of another way out for them!..In Season 2 the episode "The Pylon Express" there is a pylon with no key that opens when the moons align horizontally. Back home is one of the places it goes. So all they have to do is survive for about 3 to 4 years and they can escape. Also there is a time difference. 10 minutes in the pylon is a day and a half in the Land of the Lost.. See..all is well . =)

  • May they rest in.......well let's face it, pieces.

  • I stumbled across your video blog about one of my childhood Saturday morning favorites...very sad to think about all this as an adult...it was entertainment back then, but yes, it is a bit disturbing now...

  • I'm going to let out with a SPOILER here, so read at your own risk.

Holly at least survives to adulthood. We meet adult Holly in the episode "Elsewhen."

  • Well in a way they did "get out" at the end of Season 1 (So that the season would just loop in a circle in case the show would have ended). They leave at the same time they come in,

  • brianblack1075: This is a very thought-provoking video. LOL

  • That's kinda negative.

  • R.I.P., Will and Holly!
