  • How did they get through so many!!

  • holy crap too many to remember

  • i totally know this song by heart XD

  • top be honest William 1 is not the first king Harold godwindson because he had apparently been king just before hew died with more than likely and arrow in the eyeball

  • @Bf3isawsomez Actually, Athelstan was the first true King of England - he became King in 924. He was Alfred the Great's grandson - Alfred was only King of Wessex.

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz They are not saying that William was the first king, they are just starting the song from him

  • @MissLemonPeel "William the Conqueror became King of England in 1066, and he was the first in a long line of English Kings and Queens"

"They call me the first English King, although I come from France"

I'd say that IS saying he was!

  • lol at the beginning!

    'William the concerarr'

  • 3:02 King George IV trying to act cool:D

  • Some missing lines are:

Henry 5: Henry 4, plots galore, not least from Henry 5, moi

Henry 8: But he died young and so my dreaded daughter Mary...

Elizabeth: I'm Liz the 1st I had no kids so Tudors RIP

Charles 2: She ruled with will, their shoes were filled by sourpuss Anna Gloria

Victoria; And so our famous monarch song is brought right up to now

  • @MultiBelle22 Victoria: Ed 7, George 5, Ed 8, George 6, Liz 2 then reigned and how

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz I know that - that's why I didn't mention it!

  • @MultiBelle22 It's just that the lyrics in the description for that bit are wrong!

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz Ah, I see! Then you should have posted to whoever put the lyrics up, not me

  • @MultiBelle22 I thought that's what you were doing - I was just adding to it!

  • Good heavens! I thought it was bad enough having to learn the presidents of the US! I do find the history of English royalty to be fascinating and my favorite is Queen Elizabeth I but trying to keep them all straight is quite a job!

  • @InnannasRainbow1 Here's a slightly more compact way to remember them: Willie, Willie, Harry, Ste Harry, Dick, John, Harry Three Edward One, Two, Three, Dick Two Henry Four, Five, Six, then who? Edward Four, Five, Dick the Bad Harrys twain and Ned the Lad Mary, Lizzie, James the Vain Charlie, Charlie, James again William and Mary, Anne O'Gloria Four Georges, William and Victoria Edward Seven, Georgie Five Edward, George and Liz (alive)
  • Richard the 3rd is so loverly.

  • Wow! This is AWESOME! I'm in AP euro right now, and I think I'm gonna use this song to help study :)

  • Me! I'm Liz the First, I had no kids so Tudors are RIP

Then Richard 2 was King aged 10. Then Henry, yes one more! King Henry 4 plots galore not least from Henry 5, killed 10 score in Agincourt. Then Henry 6th arrived!

  • What about Offa to Harold II

  • how many royles?

  • And then she said: "That's me - time for more men"

  • they missed out one lady jane grey ruled england for 9 days

  • @gazza6359, i looked up the lyrics and Elizabeth I says "so Tudors RIP", meaning the end of the Tudor family and reign. :)

  • *georges

  • Soo many georgesn

  • THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

  • i actually know them all now (barring those 'missing' - jane grey & matilda)

  • I want to be on Horrible Histories one day...

  • Henry VII = awesome dancing

  • Missed out lady Jane grey!!!

  • @13Gom She never had a carnation, so she is often left out (and to rule for just 9 days)

  • @13Gom People don't count her as a queen because Mary 1st refused to recognise her as Queen of England!

  • @13Gom I know -.- annoys me...

  • this song is just to live!

seriously how long woud it of taken to learn this!!

if you come into my room at a unexpected time u wud see me goin blistic and dancing to this song!!!! lol

  • @Psikottix Although they wern't of Frankish origin like the Kingdom of France they were culturally assimilated by the French and are generally seen as being French.

  • I CAN'T FIND THE F****** DESCRIPTION!!! CAN AN IPOD VEIW IT???

  • @TheGemgem154

yes i have a ipod i can veiw the description but the thing is that while ur watching the video u cant see it then only after the video is finished playing!

    :P

  • The lyrics have missed out some obvious words

  • 1:31 Bob Hale. Vote up if you recoginze him.

  • Hey, I have a few suggestions for the missing lyrics. I couldn't hear them all, but these are the ones I caught:

"Not least from Henry 5, moi! I killed ten score at Agincourt"

"I had no kids so Tudors R.I.P."

"That's me, time for more men"

"She ruled with Bill, their shoes were filled by sourpuss Queen Anne Gloria"

"I ruled for 64 years, you know. Ed 7, George 5, Ed 8, George 6, Liz 2 then reigned and how! And so our famous monarch song is brought right up to now."

    Hope that helps. :)

  • That was fucking pimp.

  • Edward II was not killed by a red hot poker. This story did not circulate until about 50 years after his death. He was probably suffocated or strangled but a growing number of scholars believe he may even have survived, being rescued and living out the rest of his natural life in Europe.

  • William I didn't come from France, he came from Normandy. The Normans were enemies of the French, and Normandy didn't become part of France until 1238. So much for teaching history! :-/

  • @Psikottix Also he wasn't the first English King, either. The first official King to invent the King of England, was King Alfred I

  • @blondemario They should rename the programme "horrible grasp of history". ;-)

  • i LOVE the dance Henry VIII does...

  • Comment removed

  • For those of you wondering about some of the lyrics, look for the Sing Along version of this and other Horrible Histories songs.

  • Magna Charta was signed in my town! :)

  • Poor Richard III. He gets no respect! :( lol.

  • LOL, me and my friend Gabby were so bored so we sat down to watch TV and we put on ABC3 and this song came on. we were like Ruthless Rulers ROLLED' XDD

  • The two dislikes are Matilda and Lady Jane Grey.

  • They missed one queen out after Edward VI

    Lady Jane Grey...

    Who ruled for 9 days

  • @lewisrocks1999 ahh but her reign is disputed

  • @lewisrocks1999 - Well, they technically missed out Matilda (Maud) as well, but it's still the best song they've come up with yet. Ahahahaha.

  • @lewisrocks1999 she didn't have a coronation so wasn't really an official monarch

  • @Gamb1000 me too

  • this is a really cool song cos if u can remember all the kings and queens it is really useful

  • JKS 4:00 is funny pause at 4:01 :)

  • roughly 1000 years, and Britain has had fewer kings and queens than the USA has had presidents in just over 200 years. No wonder it's easier for Brits to learn history, even though they got lots more of it.

  • I sing this to my friend and hes like "wtf! I do not know this person!"

  • i love this song!!!!!:):)moomegkat xxxx

  • Genius :)

  • This is a fantastic song; all the cast in it, but I have a question and, no matter how many times I watch the eps, I can't figure it out:

Which actor plays Henry VIII? And who else is he?

  • @cndvst Ben willbond (:

He also plays Mike peabody, George I and William wallace

  • @randommonkeygirl and king louis...'tick tock boom' lol with his trousers round his ankles :P

  • if i wrote the song it would go like this

    Mathew,Mathew,Mathew,MathewMathew,Mathew,Mat

Mathew, mat, mat, mat,Mat too,Then three more mathews join our song

Thumbs up if u would use the same words

(if u dont know who mat is he plays henry 1 and charles 2 and a few more)

  • I can sing the whole song except for the bit where Elizabeth 1 sings and where Victoria songs at the very end

  • @TheGemgem154 same

  • I love the songs where all the cast ar in it

  • wounder how long it took the cast to film this

  • my son is trying to learn this and he's 3 lol nearly there as well

  • Jesus Christ!!! My brother and I sat here and tried to sing along.... I couldn't keep up with the lyrics in front of me and he went off to get some coke and was still singing perfectly when he got back XD

  • Fun Fact!

they were lots of kinds before William the conqueror, but he was the 1st strongest king of them all

also they were a few disputed claims for the throne these were:

    Matilda

    Louis VIII of France

    Lady Jane Grey

    Philip I of Spain

So yea those are your pretenders if you wanna count them as English kings and queens

  • @jemmytaveras only those who have a coronation are officially monarchs, and the kings before William 1st were only in partial control of England so therefore are deemed unworthy of the title.

  • @philessexuk

I know but still, they do count don't they?

I mean Harold Had control of the country so did Edward the Confessor, Lady Jane Grey was even crowned and so was Matilda.

But, Louis and Philip were only Pretenders but they still count

  • @jemmytaveras they were unofficial kings and queens, if they had an official ceremony then yes, but they didnt so they cannot be added to the least.

and pretenders are just that pretenders. its pretty much saying acting principal or acting vice chairman etc, they are only in control until an official person takes control.

  • @philessexuk

But like I said, Lady Jane Had a Coronation and so did Edward the confessor, Harold and Matilda and they're ever recognized as english kings by both Encyclopedia Britannica, Wikipedia and most history books

  • @jemmytaveras lady Jane was kept in the tower until her coronation, which never came due to being surrounded by Mary's forces.

Edward was king but was officially recognised by other monarchies or even the papacy, only when William became king did this island become noticeable,

and there are many things written down in history even by official institutions but they can get things wrong too, or new history theories come to light.

  • epic win.

  • WHY IS THIS SHOW SOOO AWESOME? because it is ok!! :))

  • I now know ALL the kings & queens because of this.

  • Can sing the chorus all the way - thanks gazza6359....

  • 3:04 hahaha :)

  • That's all the English Kings and Queens since William I that there have beeeen!!

  • this is so clever, yet so catchy :) lol. i love it :):):)

  • I used to think this was impossible to sing, now I can sing with no trouble XD

  • Me! I'm Liz the First, I had no kids so Tudors RIP.

Good queen Bess - That's me! 'time' more men!

Fill ins to (...) and those are the 2 i know.

    I love this song :P

  • lol this is my favourite!

  • In the lyrics it says Good Queen Bess, when it should be Good Queen LIz"

  • @missalicecullen101 no, Good Queen Bess is right. its one of her nicknames (Bess being one of the many shortened forms of Elizabeth)

  • YAY I GOT IT RIGHT!

  • New episode today! (14/6/11)

  • Love how they get through 900+ years of rulers in 4min 40s and even have the time to recap a few times!

  • Edward the third was a chivalry nerd, love that line.

  • my favorite is MEEEE

  • 2 people were fans of Rich the third.

  • @xmilitaryxlovex He wasn't actually a bad peron, but he is portrayed as evil because of tudor propaganda.

  • this helped me with my history exam :) was actually sat there in the test going "william, william, henry stephen, henry, richard, john....."

  • 2 people are sick of all the Henrys.... :D

  • Comment removed

  • AWESOME!!!!! :D

  • Literally watching this on the TV right now. :P

  • 4:03 Henry the 1st looks suprised at his turn...

  • Most of the lyrics are wrong in the description, but it's great to have this video on youtube, I've watched it near constantly this past week!

  • Love the dancing almost more than the song XD

  • It's Hanover, as in the German city, not Hangover. Lol.

  • 4:32... don't kick Victoria George (4th)!

  • The duck sounds in the george the third bit (3:04) made me laugh so hard i fell off my chair! :)

  • So tudors RIP....

  • @20meerkat YES! I could NOT work out what she was saying, probably because I misheard it the first time so I kept concentrating too hard. As with all inaudible lyrics, it sounds clear as a bell now I know what it is! Cheers for that :)

  • the lyrics in the description are very wrong :L

  • this song is epic!

  • thats supposed to be 'know' btw

  • love this song and i konw all the lyrics :D

  • William william Henry Stephen Henry Richard John oi

Edward Edward rich the third henry Henry ed again mary one good queen liz jimmy charles and Charles again

James will and Mary Anna Gloria George George George George will Victoria

Edward george Edward george sixth and queen liz two completes our list

  • I know all the kings & queens in the right order off by heart. And the facts. Basically the whole song.

  • I can now officially say that I know all the English monarchs in order, all thanks to horrible histories! I love this show.

  • 2 people have tried to learn the words and keep mucking up! ha

  • I watched this for hours, learning it off by heart, cuz it's such a cool song

  • BRILL SO COOL I HAVE LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOR AGES

  • Charles ii has swag

  • They've changed Victoria and Elizabeth: they made Victoria fat & gave Elizabeth a bigger nose... WTP?

  • @0300gorgous Well, according to all accounts, Elizabeth I had prominent nose, which she tried to down play and Queen Vic did end up extremely stout from her love of sweet and savoury puds.

HH doesn't go in for the romantic view of Kings and Queens.

  • my favorite is william II

  • clever, clever

  • I killed 10 score in Agincourt

and so my dreaded daughter mary

that's me, time for more men

she ruled will then their shoes were filled by sourpuss Queen Anne Gloria

    Ed Seven not aged seven

    monarch song

  • @LordSvzklx Oh and I think its:

  • Comment removed

  • i wonder wiy they didn't sow pic of king goerge ll

  • Funny when George 4th skids and falls over

  • @OlisEmpire i like the bit were geen vic insoltd George 4 and he was like whot

    sorry for the spelling

  • If people really want to nit pick, just as people are saying about Lady Jane Grey you could argue about Queen Matilda not being included...

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Everyone saying about Jane Grey, she's not here because she's not generally recognised as an actual monarch. Quote from Wiki: "Few historians consider her to have been a legitimate monarch."

  • Lady Jane Grey?

  • Epic. ;D

  • dont forget gorge 3 n 4

  • Here's the lyrics to the 'Chorus' bit. Each new section is added each time :D

William, William, Henry, Steven, Henry, Richard, John,

Henry, Ed, Ed, Ed, Rich too,

Then three more Henrys join our song, Edward, Edward, Rich the third, Henry, Henry, Ed again, Mary 1, Good queen Bez,

Jimmy, Charles, And Charles and then, Jim, Will, Mary, Anne (a Gloria?)

George, George, George, George, Will, Victoria,

Edward, George, Edward, George 6th, And Queen Liz 2 completes the mix!

  • @MethodicallyInsane thanx alot!

  • @MethodicallyInsane I know the whole song but it's too long to type it all, I'll put Verse 1 soon

  • @robbie10able It's in the description now, I posted this before it was just to help out.

  • @MethodicallyInsane Isn't it Good Queen Liz?

  • @Rian9500 Elizabeth I was called Good Queen Bess

  • WOOOH!! Am attempting to learn this and sing it in my History Exam xD

  • @iamadramaqueen96 When is your exam?

  • @MerlinLover996 Next week :')

  • @iamadramaqueen96 Same, GSCE ONE ;/

  • Gotta love the return of Charles II! What swag. Learning this song for sure.

  • Queen Victoria's face scares me.....

  • the didn't say about lady Jan Gray

  • @lilcornishgirl3632 most things don't count her

  • Comment removed

  • @lilcornishgirl3632 , maybe they just couldnt fit it in the song, or just coz she wasnt an official queen

  • it took us an hour but me and my brother know this completely off by heart !! xD

  • it took me an hour but

  • OMG they soo should have put George II in there but it was still brill I already sorta know the choras :) who's that 1 dislike?

  • CHARLES IS BACK... and wearing red. and i attempted to sing along when it was on tv XD

  • Comment removed

  • Did George IV mean to fall over at 3:02? lol

  • I still will find it tricky to learn but it was great to have KING CHARLES II back ! :D I loved his rap xD

  • I think this must be the longest-winded HH song ever, but I still like it! :D
