  • Great Job

  • As a fan of the original serials I have to say u nailed it. The dialogue, acting, everything is spot on. How's u do it?

  • EXCELENT!!

  • Pure greatness, excelent job.

  • This is so freaking awesome! Thanks for the vid!

  • Not bad at all.

    I liek it. ^___^

  • This is damn cool well made and a lot of fun.

  • Nice to see something worth watching on youtube for a change. Usually its all crap. Its waste up here you should have it on Atom films

I saw on your website I think it was you were talking about a feature? The name Bucky was the name of Captain America's sidekick.

Also on your website you talked about something called a previs? I think you meant Story boards.

Brilliant work though. Almost a shame to see a full feature though. It might lose that serial feel you captured so well.

  • Wow! This is really well made!

  • Doggone rotten Razi jerk!

  • I thought it was spelled 'Ratzi', but I could be wrong:-)

  • Yeah, I think you're right. Thanks for the correction. If I personally ever have to clobber one in the mush, I don't want to call him the wrong thing and embarrass myself!

  • Humorous and clever homage to the chapterplay. That medium's essential ingredients -- menace, mystery and mayhem -- are here in just the right proportion. Thanks from a longtime fan of Republic's great serial heroes. Excellent work.

  • I would superimpose the opening narrative over the shots of the nazi and the Avenger

  • love the acting, style and quality of the movie. wow. brilliant fun. I am subscribing!!!!

  • Very Impressive! I thought it was very well done, the old school style of it all put together. THought IT WAS BRILLIANT!

    Great work!

    5-Stars

  • Good work!!

  • PULP GOODNESS! (tm)

  • Very solid. It's funny without being stupid. Smart smart smart.

  • Nice job. However, a true serial cliffhanger doesn't show the good guys getting away from a bomb. This would have been a proper cliffhanger if the Avenger was still cutting the ropes when you cut to the final seconds of the clock. The screen would erupt in a huge explosion, and you'd wonder how they could possibly survive. Then next week you show the burning ropes and them jumping out the window just before the explosion.

  • Well, they were dropping 15 stories. So they did get 'away,' but they're just as bad off.

  • Good Job :D

  • DANG!!!

    thats funnyh

  • That was great! I can't wait to see the next one. Very good job ^^ You put the continuation at the best spot!!!

  • Ohh my god, so hokey and yet so awesome. I love the throwback to old styles of acting and filmmaking, and the shameless use of stereotypical characters and stock phrases. A joy to watch!

  • Very good. Was gonna mention the Bucky/Capt. America thing myself. MattHawes beat me to it... BY A MONTH! Ah, well, I may be late to this party, but it looks like we're still having fun.

    On to Pt. II

  • Nice Cliffhanger. Thanks for sharing.

  • Very well done!

  • You did such a good job with the lighting and colours, it'd be a shame to go completely black and white but I suppose that is what the 1940s serials this is based on look like. Will you be putting this student version onto your DVDs of the full feature in the special features section then? Haha!

  • Yes, I plan on putting the student version in the DVD extras of the feature:-) And don't worry, I love the color version too much not to keep it. The B&W version will be an alternative.

  • That business about The Scroll of the Dead reminds

me of yet another favourite old movie,-Boris

Karloff's The Mummy! I love that scene where the

archeologist opens and reads the ancient Scroll

of Toth, as bandage-wrapped Karloff slowly comes to life behind him. Yikes!

Shuffles away from YouTube trailing filthy ancient

    ragged bandages . . . .

  • Hi there Sclements75, I'm whyte-matt that you were talking to on the Temple of Doom board at IMDb. Yeah, this is very good, well done! I wonder if you should run it through After-effects or something similar to tarnish the look of it, a few scratches and a bit of desacturation to really give it that old time feel but then again, perhaps that's not entirely what you're after, I mean Spielberg didn't, did he? Haha.

  • A friend is working on creating a retro version of 'The Scarlet Avenger', complete with a black and white overhaul, simulated dust, scratches and film splices, and a mono mix with optical soundtrack crackle.

  • This is excellent sclements75. It actually seems like one of those 1940's serials.

    -Ian C.

  • Scott, this is a good effort.

I think you should pursue filmaking.

    Tom Lepone

    (Planeguy51)

  • "but its fifteen storiiiiiies.... "

    lol terrific

kinda reminds me of the "Lost Skeleton of Cadavra"...

  • This is terrific. It is hilarious and engaging. I enjoyed it much more than most of the stuff I have seen at the theaters lately. I want more! Return of the Skull.

  • Thanks! Don't worry... 'The Skull' will return for the feature-length version. Also, rest assured we'll see who's behind the mask in that outing.

  • Bloody brilliant, this is so much fun... pure entertainment. We need a film maker like you in Hollywood. Old School, and refreshing I will recommend this to all.

  • WOW! Really good! These are done in the same vein as the old movie serials. Although if they had been converted to sepia tone it would have been more effective as an old time movie serial! But really great production values! Are these ever going to made available on dvd anytime soon?

  • Wow, that was awesome! Great video.

  • :D Really nice. I liked especially the voice acting, though the french accent could've been a bit more pompous ;)

  • great ! id love to produce a movie and have actors, props and sets...howlong did it take to edit and produce the hole film?

  • Awesome! "The rope is too thick!"

    hahaha ruled

  • Awesome work.

    lol, very old skool!

the 'to be continued' needs some more work... it seems misplaced.

  • cool.

  • sweet man great job. you will be a great filmer

  • Nice job! But wasn't Bucky Captain America's sidekick? And you may, unfortunately, have to change the name of the title character because DC Comics has a character named Scarlet Avenger. I'd love to see more, no matter what. -- Matt

  • Well acted, shot, set, edited, and writ. Bravo!

  • Schüler is damn funny^^

  • i dig it. but it should be in black and white.

  • Dang... Funny stuff!! :) Thanks for the comment to bring me over!!

  • I'll watch the other chapters later today.

    Amazing.

  • thats awesome! I love the German dude

  • thanks for letting us know. we loved the vid

  • Wow I didn't realize this was home made

  • chapter two and three are out!

  • Cool video, Scott! I just subscribed to your channel, and I'm gonna post a link to my serial club on Yahoo! :)

I LOVE the WWII setting! :)

  • Entertaining as hell...will watch other chapters. Very serialesque, thanks for sending me a message about them.

  • this is phenomenal! keep your eyes out for the new "Max Neptune and the Menacing Squid" trailer!

  • well done nice costomes. 5 stars

  • That's the spirit! Go man Go!

  • Excellent job! Terrific cast of actors - fun stuff. Can't wait to see the other available chapters.

  • Damn that Skull!!!

  • Nice Work.

  • Awesome. Great job!

  • i actually enjoyed that a lot!! I'm gonna go watch the other parts now.

  • I liked it a lot. Very Entertaining.

  • AWESOME job!! Very well made. :)

  • I like the old movies vibe.

  • Well done...

  • Cool comical effects with the old school vibe!

  • Very funny. But shouldn't it be Spencer Witney? And, to TVPowers, it is Bennet not Bennett.

  • Very funny, indeed. But shouldn't it be Spencer Witney?

  • Excellent tribute to the old cliffhagers.

Spencer (Gordon Bennett)and (William) Witney would be proud.:)

  • Wow... You know your stuff, man! Very cool. Thanks for the review.

  • It is Spencer Gordon Bennet not "Bennett"!

  • Actually, Spencer G. was credited under both spellings -- so i think you can let that slide. ;)
