Yeah, I think you're right. Thanks for the correction. If I personally ever have to clobber one in the mush, I don't want to call him the wrong thing and embarrass myself!
Humorous and clever homage to the chapterplay. That medium's essential ingredients -- menace, mystery and mayhem -- are here in just the right proportion. Thanks from a longtime fan of Republic's great serial heroes. Excellent work.
Nice job. However, a true serial cliffhanger doesn't show the good guys getting away from a bomb. This would have been a proper cliffhanger if the Avenger was still cutting the ropes when you cut to the final seconds of the clock. The screen would erupt in a huge explosion, and you'd wonder how they could possibly survive. Then next week you show the burning ropes and them jumping out the window just before the explosion.
Ohh my god, so hokey and yet so awesome. I love the throwback to old styles of acting and filmmaking, and the shameless use of stereotypical characters and stock phrases. A joy to watch!
Very good. Was gonna mention the Bucky/Capt. America thing myself. MattHawes beat me to it... BY A MONTH! Ah, well, I may be late to this party, but it looks like we're still having fun.
You did such a good job with the lighting and colours, it'd be a shame to go completely black and white but I suppose that is what the 1940s serials this is based on look like. Will you be putting this student version onto your DVDs of the full feature in the special features section then? Haha!
Yes, I plan on putting the student version in the DVD extras of the feature:-) And don't worry, I love the color version too much not to keep it. The B&W version will be an alternative.
Hi there Sclements75, I'm whyte-matt that you were talking to on the Temple of Doom board at IMDb. Yeah, this is very good, well done! I wonder if you should run it through After-effects or something similar to tarnish the look of it, a few scratches and a bit of desacturation to really give it that old time feel but then again, perhaps that's not entirely what you're after, I mean Spielberg didn't, did he? Haha.
A friend is working on creating a retro version of 'The Scarlet Avenger', complete with a black and white overhaul, simulated dust, scratches and film splices, and a mono mix with optical soundtrack crackle.
This is terrific. It is hilarious and engaging. I enjoyed it much more than most of the stuff I have seen at the theaters lately. I want more! Return of the Skull.
Bloody brilliant, this is so much fun... pure entertainment. We need a film maker like you in Hollywood. Old School, and refreshing I will recommend this to all.
WOW! Really good! These are done in the same vein as the old movie serials. Although if they had been converted to sepia tone it would have been more effective as an old time movie serial! But really great production values! Are these ever going to made available on dvd anytime soon?
Nice job! But wasn't Bucky Captain America's sidekick? And you may, unfortunately, have to change the name of the title character because DC Comics has a character named Scarlet Avenger. I'd love to see more, no matter what. -- Matt
Great Job

Nice to see something worth watching on youtube for a change. Usually its all crap. Its waste up here you should have it on Atom films
I saw on your website I think it was you were talking about a feature? The name Bucky was the name of Captain America's sidekick.
Also on your website you talked about something called a previs? I think you meant Story boards.
Brilliant work though. Almost a shame to see a full feature though. It might lose that serial feel you captured so well.

That business about The Scroll of the Dead reminds
me of yet another favourite old movie,-Boris
Karloff's The Mummy! I love that scene where the
archeologist opens and reads the ancient Scroll
of Toth, as bandage-wrapped Karloff slowly comes to life behind him. Yikes!
Shuffles away from YouTube trailing filthy ancient
ragged bandages . . . .
