Folks, this is WRESTLING. Not the junk Vince wants you to see. This isn't "Sports Entertainment". WWE couldn't get crowds to react like this to save their life. Dixie can't do much better.
It was much louder when Hulk Hogan won his first WWE Title against the Iron Sheik. Get over yourself, and WWE is much more popular than TNgAy. WWE ran all of these guys out of business.
I was there. I was only 9 years old. The place was HOT for this match. The turnbuckle spot scared me as a kid. Dr. Death was amazing and was my favorite around this time, even over Hogan and Steamboat. Dr. Death was a huge draw for the UWF. The dude sold tickets to packed arenas.
This was what pro wrestling was all about ! This isn't that WWE/WWF entertainment, or sports entertainment, this was pro wrestling ! Listen to that fucking crowd ! Look at the great match these 2 pro wrestlers, not WWE entertainers put on !
@Edgehead10075 Blow me and love it ! You can go watch your "SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT" and the "WWE SUPERSTARS" and be part of the "WWE UNIVERSE" and I'll stick with "PRO WRESTLING" with "PRO WRESTLERS" like this ! Go jerk off Cena !
Wait a second. Wasn't the Ultimate Warrior in UWF? Are you telling me that he was a "wrestler" and not a sports entertainer? BTW, the WWE did a lot more with Warrior than UWF did. That's probably because Bill Watts is an idiot. Now, I'll admit that this was a great match, but it takes more than a great match every now and then to sell tickets. You need guys who can draw, like Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior.
@Edgehead10075 Warrior was in the UWF for about 5 minutes, blink and you missed him. He sucked as a worker, so of course he went to Vince.
Watts did more with Reed, JYD, Duggan, and Williams than Vince ever did ! He's considered 1 of the top 5 bookers of the last 40 years ! If you like Sports Entertainment then God bless ya ! Me, I'll stick with Pro wrestling like this ! No hard feelings, go be a part of WWE NATION !
So he went to Vince and became a legend! WWE 1; UWF 0. See, the name of the game is money, not how many stars each match gets. The Warrior had tremendous charisma and was easily able to get the fans behind him. Reed and Duggan were worthless piles of shit.
There was nothing wrong with PG back then, and there's nothing wrong with it now. Wrestling doesn't need foul language and girls dressing as slutty as possible to be entertaining. BTW, I saw the Bellas last night, and their ring attire is still pretty revealing.
He still wasn't that good. Gorilla Monsoon said, "He didn't know a wrist lock from a wrist watch." Lou Thesz said, "I give him a 1 or a 0 on wrestling ability."
I remember seeing Doc and Gordy go 60 minutes to a draw in the mid 80's at the Tulsa Speedway in the hot sun, and it was fantastic! RIP, Steve and Bam Bam, you WILL be missed..:)
I was lucky enough to be raised on Mid-South/UWF and just thought I was 14 for the last 12 minutes...I was there live in Tulsa just about every other Sunday including this show. My 2 cousins and I would get in and have enough to eat on for $20. WWE don't know nothing about that shit!
Yeah, I was there too and used to go to all the Tulsa shows at the Expo square. Best fed EVER. UWF was like a less wacky Attitude Era. Way ahead of it's time.
Sublime shit today cant get a pop like that.

Never understood why that would DQ you if you threw your opponent over the top rope.
Jas5578 1 year ago
Bill Watts was big on that. When he took over WCW, he made that rule change.
Edgehead10075 11 months ago
Seeing this match is odd, since I remember Gordy and Williams as WCW and NWA Tag Team Champions. They beat the Steiner Brothers TWICE.
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@Edgehead10075 Kudos man. It's amazing how so few people remember the masterpiece of a tag team Bam Bam and the Doc made
PabloMGP 11 months ago
Lol @ them playing "Born in the U.S.A." Do these guys know the actual lyrics to the song? BTW, what was the official result of the match?

What a powerslam!

@Edgehead10075 I agree that WWE is more popular then TNA (no doubt) I Just prefer this then today's "soap opera"

This has been flagged as spam show
@Edgehead10075 Seeing as how MSG seats about 20,000 for wrestling while the Tulsa Convention center maybe holds 6,000 wouldn't that make scence ?
86lenny 1 year ago
The UWF was in small arenas like that because they wouldn't have been able to sell 20,000 seats.

Fuck you. Vince beat all of these feds. The people preferred WWE; get over it. The WWE has plenty of "wrestlers," btw.

@Edgehead10075 Hello Mr. Edgehead. Mr. Warrior was one of the greatest draws in WWE history.
MrHomosforHellwig 1 year ago
BTW, Cena is the most over wrestler today. So what if he can't wrestle? Neither could Hulk Hogan.
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@Edgehead10075 Yeah Cena is over if you're a boy between the ages of 3-12. Me, I'm a man over the age of 35 so Cena blows !
86lenny 1 year ago
That's not true. Just listen to who cheers for him when he comes out. It's practically everybody, and the ratings always slide when Cena isn't there.
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@Edgehead10075
thats because the show caters to kids, their demographic has switched from teens and college kids in the late 90s to tweens.

I'm sick of hearing people bash PG. WWE was PG before the Attitude Era, and nobody complained. BTW, plenty of adults cheer for Cena.
Edgehead10075 8 months ago
@Edgehead10075
Yeah and in the Hogan era it was targeted to kids. And you're right plenty of adults cheer for Cena, they're usually have high pitched voices too.

The Hogan era was great. Nothing wrong with PG.

actually Hogan was a pretty solid wrestler outside of the WWF, most notably in Japan.

the WWF has had its fair share of matches like this, the entire industry was better back then, or even before WCW went under.
