Far too fast and mechnical. I heard this in a CD played by Ginsberg, and it sounds like a totally different piece, much more expressive and atmospheric. Sorry, but can't love this version.
Are there any organists out there how have a copy of Amy Beach's ''Prelude on an Old Folk Tune'' for organ. I believe that it might be out of print, and I cannot seen to track down a copy anywhere. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks!
Much of Mrs. Beach wonderful oeuvre is deserving of more widespread recognition. I enjoyed this rendering of opus 92 #2, but i'll add that it is marked "Lento", and at a slower tempo than heard here, the piece becomes even more "haunting" and atmospheric. The pianist Joanne Polk has devoted herself to the piano music of Amy Beach, and her recording of "The Hermit Thrush" pieces demonstrates the benefits of more closely following the composer's markings.
Dear Katherine is it? Thanks so much for your gracious comment. I enjoyed seeing your cat on your youtube site. I hope you find a home. Don't be afraid to accept help from your family.
Joseph is reluctant to open an youtube account of his own, he may have recorded the Hermit Thrush at Eve. Try contacting him using more traditional methods.

Bravo, indeed, Mr. Smith! Another performance of loveliness! I had thrilled some months ago to his shimmering 'The White Peacock'.

Great women
and musician, that could be more successful ,if it had not been repressed
by a closed and male chauvinist society!

I'm new to music of this kind, but the person who played this piece made it sound so lovely.
