President Obama is obviously trending neo-conservative in his foreign policy views, because he and the left have no doctrine or ideas when it comes the current state of affairs. It was easy for him to attack Bush, but now he realizes it was either take a more isolationist stance, or adopt the neo-conservative outline. I doubt he will be able to define to us a new doctrine on foreign policy. I don't think he is capable of original thought. I would prefer isolationism tho

@the2012report: spot on. The unfortunate reality is that ending a war doesn't mean the beginning of peace. I'm pretty sure most advocates of the military operations in Afghanistan don't want war. Rather, they see it as a pathway to achieving a more stable regional and global outcome.
