Sure it's a matter of taste, for me the Beatles are in the top too but they came later in my life (wich don't prevent me to appreciate their music) and Pink Floyd is my favourite band since I was a kid, I remember my dad bought a cd radio and got "Dark side..." I was 7-8 and was astonished, the song I remember the mos was "Us and them" all the delay and fx, jus awesome. However it's not all about just taste, Beatles, Floyd, Radiohead all share characteristic that are beyond taste.

Music-wise The Ramones were against poor rock trying and failing to be Hendrix etc. around at that time and wanting simple rock back, Beatles were long gone. They were influenced by the Beatles as were the Stooges and Glen Matlock (who wrote pretty much all the Sex Pistols' music) liked them. Punk was more about dissatisfaction with the political aspects of the world, not music. Seriously, learn something about music.
