@sirgerry Nobody tipped us off, I lived in LA at the time, the grocery store is Pavillions in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills, my brother was in town sightseeing (thats why the camera was rolling). I had mentioned there were quite a few "celebrities" who shopped at the grocery store since it is in WH/BH. I decided to pull in to see if we would run into anyone. We walked into the store and noticed Paul Stanley so we went back to our car and started filiming when he came out. Very random and cool!
I think it's great Paul stopped putting his groceries away to sign an autograph for a fan he could've said F'off can't I even shop with my family? He didn't though that's cool& he was w/wife&child@local grocery store not paying a assistant to do it that's cool to me--Gene would have charged u lmao! or said F'off unless ur an underage girl lol

He's such a cool guy! There are so many celebrities that would get pissy if someone approached them in a public place. He didn't even hesitate! "Can I get your autogr. . ." "Sure!" KISS have been heroes of mine for 31 years and counting. I hope to be able to meet one or all of those guys someday. Good for you, dude!
He is a cool guy. I met him on my 25th b-day at the Detroit kiss convention the he and Gene raided for the stolen kiss stuff and Paul walked right up to me and said hello and shook my hand. He could have walked away without even lookin at me but he made it a point to say hello.
That is beyond cool. I don't think I would've been as calm as these guys. I was a Kiss fan way back in the day. Had a serious crush on Paul himself. He definitely is a class act. Knows how to treat his fans and I agree they did it just right; quick and respectful.
Even though I've slagged Paul and Gene a bit on some of their recent 'business' decisions (i.e. other people sporting the Space Ace and Catman outfits), I do recall my first encounter with Paul. He was very gracious and accommodating. I actually had the opportunity to spend a several minutes with him. We had a quite interesting conversation. I just think he and Gene should have had Tommy and Eric create all new KISS characters instead of milking the original Ace/Peter chemistry.

KISS was playing in our small hometown, and she and her girlfriends brought a bag of hamburgers to their motel room (the only motel in town) after the show. Paul answered the door, in full makeup, and accepted the food. Then he kissed her - with tongue! She was only 17 at the time, and said he tasted like wine. He didn't invite them in but she said the room was already packed with people. I always thought it was a cool story!
I agree that this was very cool of Paul - a nice guy who is approachable and takes the time to sign for the fans. I agree that this had to have been a set-up, otherwise why would they be driving around with a video camera. But then again, why didn't they have something ready to have signed? Either way, it's pretty cool to see Paul shopping at a mall and taking the time to talk to fans.

yeah, I agree. I'm from TN and I've been to LA twice and the 1st time I was beside jack Wagner waiting in line for DeJa Vu @ Magic Mountain. The second time I was behind the fat dude (uncle Phil) from Fresh Prince of Bel Air at LAX security and I have the photo to prove it...so yes, it's totally believable you saw Paul Stanley...you never know who you're gonna see in LA.

I met Paul and Gene in Vegas on the Crazy Nights tour and we were at Caesars Palace where they were staying after the show. We met in line at the Casino Restaurant and since it was 2am and we were the only ones in line in front...they asked us to sit with them and we did! They were so nice!

Paul seemed impressed that he had got caught and was faced by these kids. With out being a prick he actually signed the stuff. I have heard from people who have paid the $1000 for the meet and greets and they come out saying, " he was an ass and everybody else was cool," I think he liked the fact that he did get caught, would it have been different had Paul not seen the video camera running ????
@jesternjeff I didnt have a video camera running when I met them and they were so polite and nice and acted so casual....but Paul didnt want his picture taken for some reason and Gene gladly let us take a picture and so did Bruce....it might have something to do w Pauls well known vanity issues. He may not have felt he looked exactly perfect for the camera @ that moment or his hair was limp or whatever...Some rock stars and actors are vain like that but they have an image to keep n think about.

Even though I've slagged Paul and Gene a bit on some of their recent 'business' decisions (i.e. other people sporting the Space Ace and Catman outfits), I do recall my first encounter with Paul. He was very gracious and accommodating. I actually had the opportunity to spend a several minutes with him. We had a quite interesting conversation. I just think he and Gene should have had Tommy and Eric create all new KISS characters instead of milking the original Ace/Peter chemistry.

@AceOfHeart2012 Totally agree! My sister met Paul in 1974. KISS was playing in our small hometown, and she and her girlfriends brought a bag of hamburgers to their motel room (the only motel in town) after the show. Paul answered the door, in full makeup, and accepted the food. Then he kissed her - with tongue! She was only 17 at the time, and said he tasted like wine. He didn't invite them in but she said the room was already packed with people. I always thought it was a cool story!

I agree that this was very cool of Paul - a nice guy who is approachable and takes the time to sign for the fans. I agree that this had to have been a set-up, otherwise why would they be driving around with a video camera. But then again, why didn't they have something ready to have signed? Either way, it's pretty cool to see Paul shopping at a mall and taking the time to talk to fans.

People have changed to the degree that a harmless fan can not be distinguished from one who is goofy or a maniac. Most of them are like Paul Stanley- very protective of his private life and family time.

yeah, I agree. I'm from TN and I've been to LA twice and the 1st time I was beside jack Wagner waiting in line for DeJa Vu @ Magic Mountain. The second time I was behind the fat dude (uncle Phil) from Fresh Prince of Bel Air at LAX security and I have the photo to prove it...so yes, it's totally believable you saw Paul Stanley...you never know who you're gonna see in LA.

I cant believe some people here, who say (seriously)" I would have/you should have helped him with his groceries". Do you REALLY think Paul Stanley would allow two strangers, albeit they are fans, help him with his groceries?? Other comments: "you should have kept the camera on him"...Thats the kind of crap that makes stars keep their distance from fans. These guys did it right- respectful and quick.

@dmedicFF Thats exactly what I was thinking...Paul is used to signing things and meeting fans everyday of his life since they hit the circit and I cant believe what these people are saying about these guys. I met Paul and Gene in Vegas on the Crazy Nights tour and we were at Caesars Palace where they were staying after the show. We met in line at the Casino Restaurant and since it was 2am and we were the only ones in line in front...they asked us to sit with them and we did! They were so nice!

Paul seemed impressed that he had got caught and was faced by these kids. With out being a prick he actually signed the stuff. I have heard from people who have paid the $1000 for the meet and greets and they come out saying, " he was an ass and everybody else was cool," I think he liked the fact that he did get caught, would it have been different had Paul not seen the video camera running ????

@jesternjeff I didnt have a video camera running when I met them and they were so polite and nice and acted so casual....but Paul didnt want his picture taken for some reason and Gene gladly let us take a picture and so did Bruce....it might have something to do w Pauls well known vanity issues. He may not have felt he looked exactly perfect for the camera @ that moment or his hair was limp or whatever...Some rock stars and actors are vain like that but they have an image to keep n think about.

@GrandFunker The only week in my life in LA, from Omaha Nebraska on spring break, of course I had a video camera, or do you want to watch the other three hours of LA fooage I shot to believe it. Also if this was set up I would have gotten better shots.

Very Cool! I've met Paul a couple times and he's always been great. I love seeing when band members are cool to the fans out in public. You know they get hounded all the time so to be so nice after all these years is great to see. Kudo's to Paul and the guys that got this footage...
