I love Bill Bixby. Great man. I grew up watching the Hulk and, even though I was a fan of Bixby back then, it wasn't until I resdiscovered the show a couple of years ago that I truly started to appreciate what a great actor he was. If you study his facial expressions and timing, you'll realize that he may have been one of the greatest actors of all time.
Great Clip showing Bix as the real human being that he was... sadly he is talking about his real life son in this clip, who was about three years old when this clip was shot... Bill's son died at age six, about three years later.
This was dated March 1977 and it wasn't until August of that year the Kenneth Johnson sat down and wrote the script for the pilot. They filmed it that fall and it wasn't until November 4, 1977 that the pilot aired on CBS. So in this interview, Bix had not yet even been approached for the Hulk series. This man was my childhood idol and hero and I wanted to meet him more than anybody else. Sadly, it didn't happen. I was a senior in college when he died. Rest in Peace Bix.
That was a very interesting interview. What struck me most was how Bixby talked to the interviewer like he would to any other adult. He spoke respectfully and without a hint of condescension. I think Bixby's demeanor also helped the interviewer through his nervousness. Sad to say that we probably will not have the good fortune of seeing the likes of Bill Bixby in our lifetime. But we are fortunate enough to get a glimpse of what a gentleman he truly was.
He didn't mention the Incredible Hulk in his future, so this was before Kenneth Johnson talked with him about it. In fact, the first Hulk movie was released in November of 1977. Fortunately for we Hulk fans he didn't get involved in the comedy he's talking instead of the Hulk. Thank you very much Bill for make my childhood happy, and thank you to marigold1930 for posting this.

A good find! Thanks a lot. Bill Bixby was always the perfect gentleman. Could have taught some of today's stars a lesson in humility.
This was in March. It wasn't until May when he started filming on the pilot episode for the Hulk.
