@cattledogagility101 cattle dogs areGREAT on the barrel. I have a little cattle dog mixed with a rat terrier? (who knows what she's mixed with and who cares) that is light on her feet, balanced and bold and has learned the fastest so far. Go gettum! Good luck with it :)
You wouldn't be jealous of all the work :) Yep, sometimes the kids have clean sheets and sometimes its the dogs that sport clean beds. I still haven't learned how to let go and not stress about the small stuff and chip and chug away at the immediate priorities. I've turned into a semi-recluse because the house is a mess and I'm embarassed, but at least the dogs and kids are somewhat clean!
I am so jealous of your gorgeous farm! Along with your ability to train so well and raise kids too, I have kids & dogs and someone is always getting the shorter end one week. :-/
The hardest part was tediously painting all the wooden slats - gathering all the supplies was cake. My dog has led me to learn how to sew (she must have costumes), be a performer (so I can better show her off), be a carpenter (of course her props must custom fit her and look good), etc. - she changed my life for the better.
I noticed that right after I sent the message. I was only halfway through the video. :-) I thought that was something you just found or something. I can barely plug in a light bulb, let alone make that barrel. :-) You are seriously commended for your effort though.
My husband will like that...he keeps wanting to go and visit all his relatives in Switzerland and bring the kids dogs and horses for a few months. I want to visit the Lindt chocolate factory and eat rosti and cheese and well.....basically all kinds of food and shop for hours in the coop for exotic flavors and of course hike to the top of a mountain and stop at the restaurant - you know there is a restaurant on top of every mountain :) My face place is Zermatt. Cute cozy town, no cars.
Well, there are some mountains without a restaurant on the top, but...not much! Hiking is my fave sport with my dog! She loves it and yes we life in a great natur sourrounding area to do that.
And shame on me, I still was not in Zermatt! But my husband worked there last year. (Building a new hotel).
Great video/tutorial! I am really going to have to try to build this one for Keen. (keep her mind and her feet busy at the same time!) Thanks for all the details! Great dogs, great trick. :)
OMG I sooo want to build one and teach this to MY dog! Thank You for this great video!! ;D

What type of barrel is that? It looks from this angle as if it has slats or something.

The video explains how to make it if you watch the whole thing :)
