When the ipad came out and I heard you could read books on it, I knew that amazon would be forced to make it do more then read books in order to keep the competition steady with the ipad. Taking a simple book reader and making it into a product where people wont even read books on it anymore.
It's stupid to compare the two. You might say the iPad wins, but it's also $400+ more expensive than the Fire. So of course it's better. Plus, the kindle fire was never mean to be a tablet. It's basically just supposed to be an easier way of viewing amazon content.
It's not a bad product, but people get these expectations that the kindle is going to be something it's not: which is a cheaper version of the iPad.

this is pointless, first of all, i got mine for 79$ v.s 600$-1000$. Ok kindle-1 Ipad-0. Both can play games, kindle-2 ipad-1. Both can read, kindle-3 ipad-2. They're different tools. My kindle can go for days, weeks even without a charge, can your iPad do that? Can you read your iPad in normal lighting conditions? I can read my Kindle with normal light. Can you get your iPad for under $200 dollars?

You can't compare the Kindle and iPad together. They're both two completely different pieces of electronic equipment.
A) they're both two separate devices, an iPad's meant to be a cross between an iPhone and Mac, whereas the Kindle's main purpose is ebook reading. A better comparison would be the Kindle Fire to the iPad.
B) an iPad's a full colour, LCD tablet with hundreds more functions than the Kindle. Meaning, different purposes and requirements.
Kindle is obviously thought for reading books. Of course it's in black and white ignorants, it's made for reading on a screen as if it was real paper. Why the fuck didn't they mention the thing that makes kindle something new. Ipad just makes all the bullshits that every tablet does for 300 euros instead of 800. @curryeater259 actually ur stupid. that big-ass huge 500 dollar tablet looks ugly as a square and I cant carry it in my pocket or anything, the only better thing about the ipad is that it is big. The kindle fire does tv shows, movies, lots of apps, over 17 million songs, bunch of games, light and the perfect size (big enough and comfortable to watch stuff) plus you can put it in your pocket and its a rectangle so you can turn it anyway and whatnot. It's only $300 less cuz they wanna beat ipad

@zeekerisftw What about, iTunes, iCloud and all of its services, AirPlay, Microphone and Voice/Sound based apps, Camera, iMessage, Free locating service, Arguably better app selection. The Fire is a good tablet, the iPad is just better.

You can't compare the Kindle and iPad together. They're both two completely different pieces of electronic equipment.
A) they're both two separate devices, an iPad's meant to be a cross between an iPhone and Mac, whereas the Kindle's main purpose is ebook reading. A better comparison would be the Kindle Fire to the iPad.
B) an iPad's a full colour, LCD tablet with hundreds more functions than the Kindle. Meaning, different purposes and requirements.

Kindle is obviously thought for reading books. Of course it's in black and white ignorants, it's made for reading on a screen as if it was real paper. Why the fuck didn't they mention the thing that makes kindle something new. Ipad just makes all the bullshits that every tablet does for 300 euros instead of 800. Kindle allow me to travel around with a thousand books and read them without destroying my eyes. Just a stupid video.

I like watching how people are vulnerable to Apple's marketing shit. How can't you understand - Kindle is a computer too! And yes, it's capable of almost EVERYTHING iPad is except 4 things: color, flash, GPS and accelerometer. Most of the things you can do online (thanks to free roaming 3G connection ipad doesn't have). And yes, you can jailbreak it too and get shell access. Stop being morons and realize the truth. Just like it was said: kindle is a bargain, ipad is a ripoff.

they didnt even mention the huge pros the kindle got as an e-ink reader...
battery-life is multiple times better than the ipad.
and even zhough the ips panel in the ipad is a very nice display, text is simply easier to read on e-ink, especially outside.
another pro: kindel starts at 80, ipad costs at least 5 times that...
