amazing what you can do with only one adjustment layer, i've just finished looking at another tutorial of a very popular and proffesional tutorials guy, he used 10 adjustment layers to get the same effect you did with just one, what's the difference with this tool as opposed to color balance and H&S?

Make your own selection. He already had a selection made and saved, so he could load one. Use the pen tool or the lasso and make your own selection.

He already prepares. Only you have do is to use magic wand tool, magnetic Lasso tool & click one the edit in quick mask then use brush then cover the entire hair then click again and the last thing to do is too click inverse. Ranash saves his work before the tutorial started.

Yep, super black hair is difficult to get blonde. It requires some preparatory work using curves to lighten the blacks enough, so that there are clear shadows and highlights before you apply this technique. But it aint easy!

The technique works for all Photoshop versions back to version 6, so CS1 will definitely do it. Please explain, what a "hair thing" is!

oh um..well the hair thingy ( XD ) is when you go to the selection area then for yours it selects the hair, for mine it selects the whole canvas. and there are no options to choose[like change it from selecting the whole canvas to just the hair]

You have to make a selection mask of the hair. I say in the tutorial that I have ALREADY made one up to save time in the video. YOU have to do this yourself with your pic! ;)

magic wand may work, but if u want to make it nicer and more accurate, use the Pen tool set it to paths and add to paths area, then follow the outside path of the hair, and once done right click and click make selection... then click ok, and if u want to save it like him, click select and then save selection
