  • Wow!! Kim Mitchell with hair!!! lol One of the best bands to come out of Canada, and one of the classiest guys I've ever had the pleasure to meet!

  • Could you imagine Frank marino and kim mitchell doing an album together. That would kick ass!!!

  • Kim is great fusion, rock, pop in a real cool mix.

  • That IS Kim, people! Check out Oh War and Battlescar if you want to see their friends have a Rush. {EG ;-}

  • Looks a lot like Kim Mitchell.

  • @camlpg

    Don't tell him that ! haha :>

  • No lipsync back then and Kim's guitar playing was tight.

  • kyuss4me are they avaiable in the us..i have searched...for years..i am a loyal kim mitchell fan but cant find max webtser cd's anywhere in the states can you turn me on to where i can...

  • @rockerrod100 you can order them from CDPLUS dot com $8.23 per CD!

  • CDPLUS (.com) has them $8.23 Cdn per CD!

  • Kim is a very underrated guitar player... he could actually really shred! He's an excellent player.

  • He looks like Kim Mitchell....

  • @vanisland17

    lmao...it is KIM

  • CRAZY NIGHT AT THE MOUSTACHE IN MONTREAL WOW,,,,

  • I went to buy some cds today and got there greatest hits cd for 8 bucks what a bloody steal!!! All music stores ever have though is greatest hits cds of older bands. So you can never find all of there songs its a shame.

  • Shit! saw them support Rush years ago they were shit then and even shitter now. But I suppose they are huge in Canada, sad really. Not greatly known for musical exports is Canada

  • @catnaping there are a lot of great Canadian bands!!! All you have to do is look them up!!!

  • Great old tune, thank-you for posting !

  • One of my favourite musicians is Paul Gilbert, and I never realized how influenced he was by Kim Mitchell until I heard this song.

  • Max Webster played at my mom's high school back in the day...

  • Saw Kim in Calgary a couple months back. He still kicks the shit out of this song even today - Bravo... what a true Canadian Rock Legend.

  • I think their biggest problem was their lack of fashion sense, and Kim Mitchell's hair.

  • @TedSlacks show me a band in that era that DID!! LOL..

  • Respond to this video... and.. Kim is completely bald now with ZERO hair, but he still fucking rocks!!.. tune into q107.com and listen live to DJ Kim as he does his afternoon show

  • It's max webstah band!

  • The band I listened to the most during my teenage years! TORONTO TONTOS!

  • Excellent guitarist. Shitty Radio Show host!!!

  • max webster band?? max webster, get it right punk

  • i love it

  • youre not lip sinking are you max webster? maximus dictionary?

  • I never realized the influence Kim Mitchell had on Paul Gilbert, until I started listening to Max Webster -and also Mitchell's solo work.

  • One of many great Canadian bands that never got the play they deserved. See Goddo.

  • When I left my home in Indiana (leaving everything and everyone I ever knew) in 81, to move to California this song was very important to me.... Cool to hear it again.

  • @jfrockon , cool post

  • Always wears the best outfits, haha

  • This has to be the most subdued Max Webster performance ever. I wonder if management told them to tone it down. If so, what a shame.

  • these Max Webster tunes are timeless!

  • Streetheart was their cover band, and Max Webster was the main event in 1979 when they played in Sarnia, Ontario. They're from there! ROCKS!

  • Kinda looks like a Heavy Metal version of Big Bird!

  • Great Song :) Thanks for posting

  • awsum tune... amen

  • Totally a lipync & mime performance to a backing track, but the backing track isn't the album version...??? Wonder if it was a demo track or a scratch track they brought along. Very strange to listen to. What in the hell is that cigar tube that they have Kim singing into? I love how the hosts says "hard and heavy" at the end. LOL Yeah, this was pure metal. :) Great time capsule, thanks for posting

  • @rightsideofhistory it's a condenser mic!

  • @rightsideofhistory

and you are how old?? 14? I suggest that you try and not grab your !@#$.

  • Personally, I'm more of a Kim Mitchell fan when he went solo. Max Webster is still amazing though!

  • Haven't heard this in awhile...no Toronto music scene in Orlando that's fer shore! Miss this awesome band

  • memories

  • I love listening to Kim Mitchell every weekday at 2PM on Q 107.1 in Toronto. especially his personal solo's to old time greats, and his humor is awesome too.

  • @remieres - LOL. The guy is so full of himself it's not funny. He's like the kind of guy that's your annoying, pestering friend that just can't shut up. Then of course if you met him in person, he'd ignore you, living the rock n roll lifestyle. He's got things to do - like living in a different era. The guy just refuses to see outside of his little bubble of basically 70's and 80's mainstream rock.

  • When I left my home state in 1981 I listened to Max Webster on the drive clear across the nation. They hold a pretty special place in my soul.

  • Amazing performance!

  • So much talent in this band, it's ridiculous. Pye's lyrics, Kim's riffs and vocals, to Wilk's boards. Just awesome.

  • I remember watching this when it was shown on tv. They were in England at the time supporting rush on their hemisphere tour, which i went to.

  • This song kicks ass.

  • fuck me. this brings back the shit. no fuckin doubt.

  • Come on play Toronto!

  • I'm going to see Kim Play here in Montreal this coming November...can't wait. He's a legend!

  • Kim's my all-time favorite canadian artist but damn I hope never see that shirt again, I'm having hard time sleep at night since (jk)...

  • grew up on it... stil touring.

  • It's Max Webster band!

  • @meanderingdude - They've come over water.

  • Max Webster was way ahead of there time,I always considered 1 of my Top 10 all around bands sweet rhythms and great Leads Prophetic Lyrics I still say they Carried Rush even though they usually were the Back up they should have been the Main band Rush always over powered Geddy Lee's voice (Leaned on the vocals way too much)

  • A classic tune. I agree with other posters: they should have been more famous.

  • join "Kim, reunite Max Webster, come home to Sarnia and open for RUSH at Bayfest!" on FB! Then, invite all your friends...

  • were rockin the mitchell bubs

  • These guys should've been way more famous.

  • cool mems

  • Good old Canadian Rock n roll.....

  • Toronto Tontos FTW

  • my mind is blown! this is a plus one for Kim

  • This is actually from 1979

  • Very clever music and playing.

  • I love that riff at 1:31!

  • I'm sure girls went jumping off bridges when they saw Kim was wearing a wedding ring.

  • @modspell where do you see a wedding ring?

  • @MaxtheMetalhead It's not a wedding ring. modspell has it wrong. There is a ring you can spot near the beginning, but it's on the right hand, not the left like wedding rings are. :D

  • @MrKissedHer Yea, that's exactly what i was thinking

  • Kim Mitchell is what Canadian rock is all about.

  • Don't slander Canada in such a manner!

  • @Manwithjeep Can't forget Rush, man.

  • good song

  • Didn't many acts on Top of the Pops lip sync? Looks like Max Webster is actually playing live, which is very cool.

  • There were a few who played live, probably more than people think.

  • Thanks Kim for calling me out in London on New Years.. Was dying to hear this track live. Killer show!!!

  • I'm amazed, I didn't know the Websters had played on Top of the Pops. Then again, in those days I wasn't watching it too often.......

happy days, i saw them supporting Rush too, what a great band

  • Comment removed

  • LOL!!! hahahHA.

  • underrated canadian band - High Class in Borrowed Shoes baby - who remembers it ???? awesome

  • Brings back memories. Great tune and an awesome band!

  • yes supporting rush loved them!rush in their white gowns and dry ice were good to.

  • kim is amazing and max webster was awesome! they defined Canada

  • That was very awesome. Thanks dude.

    Fishy

  • Buy all the Max Webster CD's or Records they are all excellent!

  • @kyuss4me

alright, im pretty new to them

whats a good album as a nice starting place?

  • @1m2a3t4t5 Thanks for asking... I would say probably "A Million Vacations" if you like this song. "Universal Juveniles" is my personal favorite. "High Class in Borrowed Shoes" is excellent too... I kind of partial because I like them all... they have several best of or greatest hits also.... "Diamonds Diamonds" comes to mind...thanks

  • @kyuss4me

    alright thanks

  • @kyuss4me

Vinyl is actually making a comeback.

  • @kyuss4me You will get more value out of this catalog than you ever could with 100 000 000 CD's of todays music

  • I love the drummer's shirt.

  • Yes, that is kim mitchell singing

  • could anyone tell me if thats kim mitchell please

  • Yes, that's Kim Mitchell. I bought this album back in 1977

  • It was released in 1979.

  • My mistake. You are correct, just was looking at my album Live Magnetic Air. It had to have been 1979 when I purchased it.

  • The Max machine was greatness to me.I saw them backing up The mighty Rush in May of 1977 and was totally into thier music after that. Not for everyone for sure but if you don't like them there really isn't any need to spend your time making hateful remarks besides having some bizarre need to display your ignorance in a public domain. Long live outrageous optimism! I remember Pye!

  • now this was music

  • the first band i saw live.. they opened for rush on their tour of the hemispheres.. newcastle city hall 1979

  • Yea saw them support Rush on that 79 tour at Birmingham Odeon. Happy days

  • The most under rated band ever.

The madcap scene and the max machine.

  • @YYZ5000

    TORONTO TONTO

  • pair of nice guys.

  • what a rush of timelessness

  • wow amazing performance

  • nice mic

  • Mitchell's singing reminds me of Ozzy Osbournes singing

  • not even close

  • This was later than 1977. They still had Mike Tilka on bass until at least 1978 ALso this song was on Mutiny up my sleeve which I think was released in 1978 or 79

  • only kim mitchell song i like

  • wow you must be on drugs man...

  • wat about go get a soda that such a good song

  • isn't it "go for a soda"

  • Actually, it's "Go For Soda"

  • What about 'go for a soda' or 'all we are' or patio lanterns'?

  • still no

    btw i like your name

  • Lol thank's

  • sodda and patio lanterns r kim mitchell

  • did mitchell ever have a full hairline lol love this song

  • Kim Mitchell is actually a pretty nice guy when you get to know him, a bit eccentric but definitely not dead LOL

  • wtf kind of microphone is that

  • its actually an instrument mic but some singers prefer it because it gives a more agressive in your face voice for rock and roll

  • lol y do ppl do this? TO get a rise out of other people?

  • ...Kim Mitchell isn't dead o.o

  • HEs NOT DEAD!

  • Thanks!

  • Great band!!!

  • Can't believe that they were ever on TOTP, must have been one of the more surreal and memorable moments.

  • This the band that toured with Rush for many years in the 70's.

  • Man you would never even know that Terry Watkinson was in the band.

    Who directed this ?

    :(

  • If memory serves me correctly this is a 1979, not 1977, performance of Paradise Skies (from the A Million Vacations album). I remember purchasing this album when it was released in '79. Max Webster was one of the most underrated bands of the 1970s.

  • this is great music saw them in concert many decades ago sound just like this in persoin !!!

  • Kim Mitchell avec les cheveux! pre OPP chapeau!

  • wtf, english plz

  • It's April in Toledo.Iam talking to myself.Iam talking to myself !

  • No need to talk to yourself ! chill !

  • Love Max Webster and Kim Mitchell even though they are before my time. The fashion back then still makes me giggle. *I'm an '85 baby* Kickass song.

  • Missing the OPP cap!

  • i enjoy this song... i gotta hand it to kim he can play and sing pretty good... with the songs from this band and kim mitchell he has a lot of good tunes... Rock On'

  • snear

  • fuck u then why did u watch it.

  • imiciggs your a fag

  • labossiere8, you're a blowjob.

  • I read between the wrong lines... it's just that I am a huge fan and have sat and had a beer with Kim back in the 70's and back then music and fashion were not as important as today... peace "dude"

  • haha awesome your cool like my dad

  • My dad and some of his friends were sitting at Uncle Sam's in Niagara Falls back in the day and Kim Mitchell hung out with them, already hammered, but my dad said he was amazed that he got on the stage after that and put on a hell of a show.

  • I got shitfaced with Kim Mitchell in Daytona around 1991... great guy - really down to earth.

  • I had no idea Kim Mitchell was in a band that was so critically renowed- I thought I knew my rock, I'm ashamed of myself. Back to the archives I guess- any other M.W tracks I should check out anyone?

  • Yeah this has got to be a little later than '77.

  • Max Webster 1977?!!! Damn, that's right, I've got the awesome Universal Delinquents CD from 1980! Shit, time flies... Indeed, they shoulda been HUGE!

  • Max Webster is beyond a Canadian classic. The band had it all. Too bad the world at large was / is largely unaware of this mega-talented group. Should be as huge as Led Zeppelin. No shit.

  • This is the first album I ever bought ( A Million Vacations ) I still listen to it all the time. Back in time we go, back to an age when bands were judged on talent rather than appearance.

  • they were too frumpy canadian to be huge, bad looking guys with no fashion sense

  • Comment removed

  • such a gay comment... dude it's about music not shopping!!!

  • i know it's about the music 'dude', that's why i logged onto the video, i'm just responding as to why they weren't the huge hit that some people thought they should have been, but believe me, i enjoy my max webster going on 30 years now

  • ok cool... thanks for that...

  • Fantastic little treasure you have here, thanks!

  • WOOT

  • Can hardly here the damm pedal effects on Kim's strat dudes....

  • He will eventually but his music will live on dude.

    FORGET THAT FEAR OF GRAVITY!!!

  • This is a GREAT find! Thanks for posting this!

  • Max was/is fuckin timeless.

    They shoulda been huge!

  • Seems to me they were never huge because they were just too good. The bulk of the music buying population digs shit - if they'd written retarded lyrics and stuck to C, G, and D they probably would've been massive.
