Extend the center column on the tripod by turning the crank handle clockwise.
2
Loosen the three screws under the top plate of the center column. The screws will either be flat head or Allen screws.
3
Tighten the panning lock nut on the current tripod head and turn the entire head clockwise. The tripod head will start to loosen from the legs and will eventually come off completely.
What do you think about the Velbon DV6000 ou DV7000, they both come with this head.
I really don't want to spend much money (because i can't), they retail for 58£ on amazon, and i'm thinking about it. I tried the 6000 in a store in the other day but with no camera, and i'm not an expert :P
@MrCheesyCam I have a Canon 550D T2i, with the kit 18-55lens, and i won't buy another in the near future, and if i do, it will be the light weight canon 50mm 1.8!
Have you tried the legs that come with this? Maybe there's different versions. the ones I got with it are pretty awesome. (I've got the Velbon DV7000, cost £81 for head+legs)
They open up REALLY wide and hold a meter long ZAZA slider without tipping over when the camera gets to the end.
I actually use them more than the Weifeng 717 - more stable with a slider.
They're about as sturdy as the 717 but open much wider, easier to work with and lighter..
NO way man, there's gotta be a catch. I'm new to the DSLR market, so maybe I'm a bit ignorant... But I've had trouble finding a decent fluid head for under $100! So what's the genuine difference between this and something for around $100? Anybodies welcome to answer! :D
@NitsanPictures thank you for your tips. Only now I decided to buy fluid head, but in your opinion, I mean in your place, which fluid head you'll chose: this one or 717? Thank you for your time.
For DSLRs the 717, no question at all. I'm considering selling my Velbon.
For small Camcorders (i mean the ones that you hold the entire camera with your hand, HV30 or smaller.) the Velbon should be alright.
Not having a bowl head has been a problem too often so i'm not sure if i'm ever gonna take my velbon out shooting again. Apart from these two issues it's alright.Maybe as a backup or for a second camera.
What do you think is the maximum weight this thing can hold?

How the hell do I get this off of my V600?
imagesjapan 2 months ago
@imagesjapan Sorry I don't own a V600. Not sure what that looks like. In the video, I do suggest that you don't buy it with a tripod.
MrCheesyCam 2 months ago
@MrCheesyCam Thx. Mistake. Not V600, but Velbon C600. I wish I had watched your video 2 years ago when I got it here in Japan.

@imagesjapan
Ha ha, I just bought the whole tripod. Because I believed you could detatch the head. *facepalm* So this isn't possible with c-600?
Will find out on Monday.

@imagesjapan
4
Ensure that the panning lock nut is tightened on the second tripod head and begin to screw it onto the Velbon tripod legs.
5
Re-tighten the three screws on the underside of the center column. Try turning the new tripod head to ensure that it is on tightly.

@jm1jonas It might be good for just light weight camera setups. Nothing too heavy.

@jm1jonas Sounds like it should work fine. Just don't throw it around, it's mostly plastic. Outside of that, it works very fluid.

@dallasbagley Read the blog, it answers those questions.

It's a great head for the price and I find it even smoother than the popular weifeng 717..
but this one has no springs so the camera/lens tends to smack into the tripod as soon as you let go if you forget to lock it down... SOO annoying!
and I don't like the quick release on this.. But I use giottos QR systems on all my gear anyways.
