I'd like to be able to give a good report about these OWC SSD drives. Indeed, I bought two, one for my Mac Pro & one for a MacbookPro. In both they do not wake from sleep. The video and mouse freeze. I've had to rebuild many databases repeatedly & though faster, this is very costly. This is a known issue and yet they do not resolve it. In spite of some good customer service and many years of good service the follow through after months and a lot of expense has made this a nightmare purchase.
@humoreus On January 31st, 2011, adjusted our SSD firmware to eliminate isolated cases of wake from sleep issues which affected specific MacBook Pros w/Model IDs 5,1-5,4.
i have been told by no less then four people i would be the first to be notified if there was any updated firmware to solve these long known issues. Still no news on the location or whereabouts of said firmware update?
@humoreus Unfortunately, this firmware update is still delayed....and no other SSD vendor has Mac version either. You can, if you have access to a WIN machine do the firmware update yourself...avail on our site...can't post link here due to YT rules.
Or you can send it back to us for us to do. If you wish to choose this later option, contact our customer service dept at 800-275-4576. We do apologize for the delays, frustrating for all for sure.
@humoreus Compounding this issue was Apple releasing different revisions of logic boards within the 5,1-5,4 MBP's. As a result, some machines did experience the wake from sleep issue, but many more others did not.
Unfortunately, there isn't any documented source we can use, consult with, etc. to determine which logic board revision a given machine had to advise which machines may or may not experience a problem.
I've recently installed an OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD in my 2006 Macbook and I've been blown away by the performance. Before the install I was going to sell my laptop, but now now, it's like a new computer. Thanks OWC!

processor speed has very little to do with booting up time. actually the rule of thumb states that smaller hardware takes quicker to load and boot...
