And, xadam2dudex you are right, they are good with the accent when they are singing but i'm English and whenever I have heard overseas stars sing and speak in English, their accents are always slightly different! Not that that is a bat thing but I think that the speaking accent is never quite as clear as the singing!

oh if you watch enough episodes you will hear them drop English words and/or phrases. The videblogs have some of it too. You can tell they are both fluent in English when you hear them.

i think it is rather easy to not have a german accent. u just have to be interested in the english language. english pronounciations are easy to learn for germans i think. i'm a german myself studying in UK and several english people told me i don't have an accent. it's more difficult for italians and spanish people i think, but i don't know why.

well to those of us in English-speaking countries, hearing these accents and especially their singing is extremely charming, and quite unlike the harsh gutteral accent we come to expect via Hollywood. And I agree with aceof12345, the accent is even less while singing. Why, I don't know.

It's because when you sing, a lot of emphasis is put on the notes, rather than the words. If you are singing correctly, we shouldn't hear too much of your accent.

In high school, we had a few foreign exchange students from Germany, and a few people were very rude to them. "Hey, hail Hitler" and saying more stupid crap like that.

if your GRANDparents were in diapers in 1945, you are a hell of a lot younger than me LOL. Dad and Mom (gone now) were middle-aged back then and very cognizant of details in later years. One interesting thing Dad recalled was that most of Hitler's pre-war shenanigans happened on a Saturday, cause all the British politicians were off in the country and less likely to respond quickly.

Actually, German and English are both languages that are very closely related to each other. They are what are known as Germanic-languages.

Spanish and Italian are both related to each other and are both known (along with french) as Romanic-languages.

If you had someone from, say, Asia and you had them listen to someone speaking German and another speaking English, they would be able to tell that they were two languages, but they would also say that they sounded very similar.
