I have zero knowledge of stone work and the trade itself, but I do work in a creative field... I can determine by some of the comments here that the skill required is impressive, but for some reason, overall the design just doesn't seem to fit the environment, if the style was used on a larger area such as a facade of a house?
I don't know, but it's just too complex for the constrained area it's in it seems.
oh dear, oh my, WTF happened there, ok here go's, your joints are to big, you made it way to easy for yourself with all perpendicular joints on top, should of try to turn a few of those upside down, running vertical joints please no more than two stones high then break the joint, i understand that some home owners like that shit but you got to do better than that, this is what separates craftsmen from DIYers and to be honest you might be in the middle, try harder next time
HATE TO CRITICISE BUT YOU SHOULD NEVER PUT A STONE HIGHER THAN LONGER IN THE WALL,ALSO THE PANEL HAS STRAIGHT JOINTS RUNNING UP THE WALL, WHICH WOULD NOT BE GOOD FOR STRENGTH,ALL JOINTS NEED TO BE COVERED
BRAVO!!! Pure art! The use of contrast, posative space vs. negative, amourphus vs. geometric, light vs. dark is mastery. Your talent and work are a blessing for the rest of us to enjoy......and from experience, I know ridicule is just the loose lips of envey! Thanks SOOOOO much for sharing
This is not stone masonry....this looks like shit! To somebody who desent know anything it might look somewhat ok , but to a stone mason it looks like you shit it on the wall!!
I think the design is cool looking. If those are hand cut natural stones you spent some time cutting. They look like cultured stone because how flat they are.. I like the dark mud too. Peace
Tidy building but this it's not a conventional build for stonework. More arty that practical and there will probably be cracks appearing in it before 5 years have past if its load bearing. This is because the build its Risband jointed! What was the mix and what type of stone?
Your job looks great. I hope that you may be able to show the work in progress in future postings (i.e. showing how you plan the job, the materials you used and techniques for cutting/shaping the stone).

Nice floor tiling job too.

It must have been a bitch to build. nearly every 'sneck' (small piece of stone) would have to be cut
Bet you didn't charge by the Mtr2
planetyouranus22 2 years ago
every piece of stone is prepared by hand using a chipping hammer , no machine is used in this process and we charge by the sq yards.

took long enough to find a vid that has a curve to the design rather than a flat wall

Looks nice and neat, not proper stonework though. Looks a bit like a patio on a wall.

if your going to go w/ a veneer rock is the one to go with. nice work, i too would like to see more of the process.

you can tell its just faced in stone, there would be no strength in it. thats not a skill.
barneycelt 3 years ago
The level of skill needed to get this right is enviable, I think it looks great. Kind of medieval feel to the design. Cool.
