  • watch the movie 3 Magic Words It's all about this new revolution in consciousness.

  • what's the message? he says the crime is not admitting we're god - so does that mean that if we don't see ourselves as something more than we appear to be, we essentially don't have to hold ourselves to a higher standard of moral code, conduct, behavior?

  • RON PAUL 2012

  • thank you for putting this together.

  • " he has to invent ways if cracking them. heres how it goes"

    (click next video)

  • That spinning 3 is tripping me out.

  • @itsmedude1020 it's not a three, it is the sanskrit syllable 'Om' or A-U-M. It comprises the full range of human sound frequencies... the silent interval between two 'Om's is meant for calming the mind.

  • @maheshc37 Haha I knew someone was going to correct me on that. Thanks man... or woman.

Very cool. Well the other night the "Om" symbol was tripping me out ;)

  • sounds like stewie griffin in his 70's

  • What an amazing bastard. :D

  • is there a part 2 ? it ends oddly.

  • @lifesagardenyadigit Its in a lecture called "out of your mind". All the parts are on youtube.

  • this opened something in me ...good.

  • great work..thx

  • Wonderful, refreshing, and so true. So many are spiritually masturbating. At some point you will get tired, and stop playing with yourself. Be grateful for a master whom indulges your fantasy, helping to tire you out so you can remember you're nothing.

  • amazing... very inspiring and uplifting.. brings out the Buddha in you :)

  • The real crime is that you won't admit you are god. Absolutely magnificent

  • 4:25 he sounds like mario...

  • @piacheri lol

  • mckenna

  • watts and makenna sound an awefully alot alike, although mekenna mostly talked about this kind of stuff with pcyhadelics

  • Life changing. Thanks for uploading <3

I actually really like the music added to the video

  • please can someone spell that word at 1:13? "precisely ?????" english is not my 1st language

  • @m44ever percisely postponed

  • @m44ever Precisely postponement

  • @m44ever postponement: the act of postponing something.

  • @m44ever he says precisely postponement

  • @m44ever he is saying 'precisely postponement"

  • How did Alan Watts see ME? Thank you for posting this. I'm glad I found it.

  • TEAR IT ALL DOWN!!!!! :)

  • Too some, it is hard to listen to people speaking with audio playing quietly in the background. Those people, I feel, are missing out. I find it relaxing and non distracting in this case.

  • the first step is wanting it, very simple

  • @sbdon71 No, you're wrong.

  • @CymroGoch not for me, no. thanks

  • @sbdon71 Wanting something isn't enough to get it in the real world. Considering things that are absolute bullshit do fair any better, on the contrary. The sentence is very simple indeed, but meaningless. I can want non existent things all I want, but even a person lying about having such an experience will never really give you or anybody else such a experience.

Suffering, discipline, wanting. all empty rhetoric.

  • I am scared because I don't want to let go of my family, mainly my mother.. won't that sort of happen if I become enlightened? I am trying to improve at the guitar and in the arts and I don't feel like that will ever happen if I let go.. I would never want to lose touch with my mother because of carelessness just because it would break her heart.. how am I supposed to let go when I love her so much?

  • @verifymyageful The idea is not to kill yourself. Just to understand that the basic truth of reality is that there is no real separation so there is no need for the endless worry that most people fill their lives with. When you cling on to something for fear of losing it, your love becomes a cage for both of you.

  • @NewPeaceOrder thanks, yes I see that now, I have always had that understanding but never really knew by the book what enlightenment would change in an individual, thanks for the response :)

  • @verifymyageful there is no suffering during enlightenment that is why you are enlightened

  • @raezoner you can suffer until you are enlightened

  • @verifymyageful No you don't have to become emotionless zombie, don't take this enlightenment stuff too seriously. Please see -> Alan watts playing the illusion: /watch?v=H708iHZNIFw

  • @Piitsi thats not what i meant at all, never said emotionless, and never said i thought it was serious, i WAS.. just kind of worried about being a little bit to care free and I know how stupid that sounds now.. i probably would have originally worded it different but w/e

  • @verifymyageful I miss read you and I was a bit too over the top with my comments. My comments are a bit silly sometimes. I made that comment because: I have felt that that, if I live the dis-attached life, I could distance myself from my family.

The video that I referred you to check out helped me a great deal. After that I have really taken myself less seriously than before. Not that it really matters in the big picture if I do take myself sometimes a bit seriously or do not. ;)

  • the eyes have it but seldom understand it

  • wow...a youtube video with tastefully subtle music. thanks!

  • @avedic i second that!!

  • Is their a second part to this? Seems like it he sort of trails off with an incomplete idea at the end. Anyone know where this recording came from?

  • @HollywoodrMr

It's from a series of lectures called "Out of Your Mind" and the lecture this is from is called "The World As Self, Part 2."

  • that music is incredibly distracting.

  • @maxography Lol I kind of felt the same way! I was like it is nice but I can't hear him!!

  • Does anyone know what music/sound there's in the back? It's incredible and makes me so relaxed, anyone knows? ;o

  • multumesc

  • a brilliant summation of the problem of "the path." . . . as Watts says in one of his books, "There is no path to God. It's a question of realization. You are the Buddha." (probably not an exact quote:)

  • I thought the time of LSD consumption is over????

  • @shonkhuulai hahaha come over to my house :D

  • Is this Alans Watts voice??

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Great discussion. Thanks for the upload although I could do without the music.

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL at or chased after, but to simply be a part of.

I mean astral projection is awesome, but that state of not feeling the need to go anywhere (mentally or physically), that absolute calm... that felt like enlightenment.

    Anyway shrooms are cool haha.

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL The most enlightened I've ever felt is on shrooms. You can literally feel the collective consciousness of all of humanity flowing through your veins, pulsing in your chakras and blasting through your brain at 100 miles an hour.

That felt like true enlightenment. I was laying down trying to OBE and realized after ten futile minutes that I didn't need to because I already was. I was tripping enough balls that I felt the whole of the Universe was within me, not to be grapsed

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL An effortless doing. I guess if we see it that way then it makes sense. In the right state of consciousness, anything could be an effortless doing, the effort is all in our head :D

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL It's kind of hard to put into words what it is... Everything we "do" in everyday life requires some effort. (Working, driving, etc)

The best way I could sum it up is not a learning, or a doing, it's more like breaking a bad habit, and that habit is repetitive thought. This is easily confused with a doing, so people think they have to "do" something to meditate. So they sit there and force themselves to not think, which never works. But I see where your coming from.

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL Doing usually implies trying, if you try to meditate you're instantly not meditating. Being conscious is being, if it were a doing you would say "doing consciousness" not "being conscious". Also take note of the fact that there are many different forms of meditation.

"Focusing" your attention is more like Vipassana (focusing on your breathing). There are meditations where you, for example, expand your attention to everything you're hearing and feeling at once.

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL That's not enlightenment. That's base level energy work. Sure, it's on the path to enlightenment, but they aren't the same. Not by a long shot.

  • I actually understand this video 100%. I was scared of astral projection, until I did it by accident.

  • Comment removed

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL The problem is, meditation isn't a "doing" thats what confuses people about it.

  • I DONT UNDERSTAAAAAAAND DAMN YOU ALAN WATTS AND YOUR CONFUSING SAGE WISDOM

  • This is worth checking out:

    liberationunleashed(dot)com/nation/index.php

  • Humans love to wallow in this silly idea of insignificance. Its easier (and far less enjoyable) than taking control of your life.

  • dumpert

  • So... it's alright to feel content? Is it okay to be happy with yourself, just as you are?

  • @Alec0124 You ought to know the answer to this question. Would me saying no make you feel pitiful about yourself? Would me saying yes make you feel confident about yourself? Would my answer matter to you - at - all?

But to answer: Yes. You are who you are, and you do your best, and there is no one else but you to know this, to confirm this and to recognize this.

Don't go under in a world that strives for confirmation and approval. Go under in the world you choose to be in. Your world.

  • @Alec0124 That is exactly how you should feel.

As long as you are healthy, don't fret about your body. You will leave it one day.

Take pride in being healthy, not in looking like a magazine cover.

  • I love all his teachings! very authentic.

  • what if we all focused on being gods?

  • @sbdon71

I imagine some gods would quickly want to be more powerful than other gods

  • @xxSpearMonkeyxx perhaps brotha

  • "I have forsaken all those I love and failed in my responsibility to care for them. What greater sin is there?"

I wrote that drunk an hour before watching this and realized that god is as much a wretch as myself. Like father, like son, but one in the same.

  • 3:50 "Sorry I don't understand that, because I only get it intellectually, I don't feel it."

With the exception of psychotomimetic drugs, I feel the same way.

When surrounded by decay, waste, and pain, how is one to reach peace immaculate?

  • If you really want to delve into this, read The three pillars of Zen by Philip Kapleau Roshi.

  • at 7:20, he says, the real crime is... Can't understand the rest.

    Thanks for the video!.

  • @rodrigojoseunb "The real crime is that you won't admit you're god. That's false modesty."

  • @InappropriateUsage Thank you !

  • I have been listening to tons of Alan Watts videos and i still have not let my ego go. I understand i cant try to let it go because it would be an ego trying to let go of its ego. Any advice from you guys?

  • @mothurman Who is trying to let go of the ego?

  • @mothurman

Just witness the ego, the thoughts coming in and leaving again like clouds in the sky. You cannot get rid of it, but you,the true you,can lose interest after seeing the illusionary nature of thought. Letting go happens by itself then. You could meditate on the question 'who or what am I?'. Don't answer the question with a clever answer but use the question to direct your atention inside and investigate. (also check videos of Adyashanti, he is very inspirational). And have fun ;-)

  • Is that symbol in the middle of the lotus spinning clockwise or anticlockwise?

    :-)

  • @TheAccidentalMonk Looks clockwise to me, is there some illusion that I'm missing?

  • Comment removed

  • @Gluumer

If you concentrate hard enough, you can see it going either way. The key is 'to see' it going in the direction you want it to be seen going with your mind, before you'll actually see it going that way, then it will go that way.

  • @TheAccidentalMonk Oh... I think I see. It looks more like it's shifting both left, then right. The symbol in the middle always seems to go clockwise to me though.

  • nice excuse for being lazy

  • @mrzack888 ironically your comment is exactly what Alan was referring to.......maybe having to 'do' things to be enlightened is a nice excuse for not wanting to face enlightenment or truth? Hence the title...fear of enlightenment

  • @mrzack888 Not only is it a good excuse for being lazy, its also a good reason to be anything you ever wanted to be, without having the nagging thought of "Oh, but I need to suffer to get that far," attached to it. Of course, though, you can't be great at something without tripping a couple times....

  • there is no wrong doing, there never has been.

  • The twirly thing in the video was making me dizzy.

  • so i put that water up my rectum for nothing?

  • @gunkwretch

you experienced something by doing that. It's worth it, every action, experience is worth it.

  • @gunkwretch for the fun of it

  • @gunkwretch haha I laughed at that, thanks

  • @gunkwretch

    No, you made me laugh.

  • 1:11 "But ALL of that, is PRECISELY "persponment" - ..."persponment"? Can someone help me out? What was that word mean?

  • @SincereCreature postponement, and to pospone means to delay and object's occurrence.

  • @pran1zzle Oh, I see, thanks ;) The funny thing is that I knew that word, but I didn't hear it clearly as "postponement", and didn't know the word that was being used...For a really long time, 'till now. ;D Thanks again :D

  • ive been enlightened i guess from an experience on drugs but 2 weeks later i got caught up and fell back to my ego. ive been longing to feel that sense of freedom and comfort again but i keep falling to my ego and fear. i believe its becuz i know i will lose everything i have. i do care for my mom and friends. its bothering me so much i dont want to leave them i want them to come with me. is this the curse of a caring ego? anyone else feel of this?

  • @shoefly808 yes, I'm currently having this problem. Try to find Indigo's or Light Workers around your area. Post your opinions on a video or text blog. If you are excited about being free and want it then try and express it to bring those sort of people to you. If you become truly happy then your family and friends will have no choice but to try and understand you. Thus will look up to you.

  • @HanumanDas420 Was that the evening that everyone got high on

    pot and sneaky pete wine?

Ram Dass when under the influence of spirits often got in fist fights

with women, like Andy Kaufman. He said the right things when sober

but once he had a few beers he would get cocky and want to

fight the whole bar. He was known for stealing the barmaids

    tips.

I think Ram Dass enjoyed the 'wife swapping' lifestyle.

Ram Dass & Al Goldstein were buddies. They co-published

    a magazine called 'Screw'.

  • This is so true I've felt this way twice in my life and I ran from it both times. The second time I knew what it was I had achieved and turned away from it still, there was this "Moment" and then I choose to instead give in to my ego and ignored what I had just felt. And it was fear, precisely that made me do this I was afraid of where Id end up it was like I let go of the wheel but then grabbed it again imminently.

  • @CAPRISUN441 In fact, does anyone know where I can get the background music? Is it available somewhere?

  • @CAPRISUN441 Anyone happen to know which piece of music it is?

  • I was once on a spiritual high for two weeks it was the best I've ever felt in my life pure love running through every part of me people thought I was nuts and towards the end I couldn't take anymore I didn't want it to go but it did I closed myself down all I keep thinking of is feeling that beauty again but I'm a little scared hahaha nuts I know love bless u all peace out

  • @GargantuanLifeform99 Maybe Todd the Dog-sledder is the genius....he married her.

  • @minifarmgirl11 To be selfish is the most selfless thing you can do.

  • 3 M <3

  • I m starting to love this dude

  • After I was introduced to Buddhism by Alan Watts, many times a day I stand back and enjoy the idea that we (and everything, really) are different petals on the same flower.

The coolest thing I know is that everything is an expression of the universe-

    Some get to be stars,

    Some get to be trees,

We're just lucky enough to be able to turn around and marvel at the whole thing.

  • There is only one enlightened individual on this planet...Sarah Palin.

  • @qigong1001 hahahahahahahahahaha

  • "Jump into the abyss and discover its a feathered bed "

  • Funny, I shared a jail cell with this guys son Richard, and he was a real duche bag. I think the only thing he picked up from his father was the drug usage. he was not exactly an enlightened cat. As a matter of fact he was responsible for getting ed rosenthal busted. Ouch!

  • There is no such thing as God people. Good and evil are simply concepts invented by humans; mostly to promote behaviour that is conducive to a harmonious society and dissuade behaviour that is not. There is nothing wrong with ego. Simply know that it exists and when to keep it in check.

  • @minifarmgirl11 divine simplicity :)

  • His voice is just so relaxing.. Sometimes I put this video on without even listening to the words..

  • what be the song

  • if you think you're god you should come off it

  • @minifarmgirl11 You are in different dimension. I envy you...

  • there is no such thing as wrong doing.

  • @billycorn5 only distraction

  • @boxofz nothing is a distraction that the ego does'nt make it so.

  • @billycorn5 except for things like music which comes from within another and love. As they are a taste of enlightenment that you need too seek within yourself. things like this should be looked at like inspiration rather than a substitute.

  • Is Budhism practical to Modern Man? remaining spiritual while living in a material life?

  • @zatoichiable Yes. But its harder to focus, as there are many distractions.

  • @minifarmgirl11

There is no 'ego' and there are no 'selfish' acts. All movement is mutual, 'everything'(clumsy word) happens of itself.

  • I just discoverd Alan Watts... and I watched this video 10 times already... the voice of Alan Watts makes you feel good... he is the voice of people who think for themselves and dont act like sheep

  • I'm new to Watts and I do not know anything about zen budism etc.

    So just 1 question:

Does Watts, or budism in general, consider love, (not physical, animal lust etc, but pure love between 2 people), being just another shell (mask) that has to come off or is it a good thing for spiritual enlightment if it is really pure enough?

Or there is no such thing for them?

    Thank you for answering.

  • @zvjer2 I'm not really sure what you're getting at but.. buddhism has absolutely nothing against love

  • @doktorkosmos213

I mean when 2 people love each other and develop a deep relationship, is it a mask cause of feelings and urges. that are too low to achieve spiritual enlightenment, or is it a good thing?

I mean, there is no man&woman love relationship without those "low" physical needs but also that kind of relationships are foundations to our civilization cause of the need to reproduct. So how do these things get along in buddhism?

  • @zvjer2 there is no such things as "low" and "high" things. Those are just words/definitions/labels in the zen sense. Nothing will distract you from spiritual enlightenment unless you identify with it.

As for Pure Love: it is everything that exists. There cannot be Love between 2 people because people are Love. If it is just between the 2 of you, it is lust and reproductive instinct. But please do not consider this bad or low. Just try not to identify with it or attach to it excessively.

  • @vidmm

Thank you for your answer, but I just partly understand it. We really have good motives and do not indentify ourselves with physical lust, but we cannot lie that we care about every human on earth as of each other. So isn't that lower? For us love=everything, like it is a force that builds everything else, similar to the term of God in every religion, so don't mix that with our feelings.

Forgive me for my ingorance about Zen, but thats why I'm asking in the first place. :-)

  • @zvjer2 dont apologize for your lack of understanding, we have all been there. I would answer you like this, you are already as enlightened as you will ever be, but for some strange reason, you deny it, just like we all do at first. there is no lower and higher self, there is only the great self, and it is playing you right now. therefore, your urges such as to eat, and for sexual lust, and love, are the universe playing for you, so love as much as you can, its a playing of the universe

  • @zvjer2 love thy neighbor as thyself but if you love your neighbor too much you may begin to hate yourself and then hate your neighbor. so buddhist concept of loves is love your fellow man but dont forget that you yourself are a person that is lovable and you will feel oneness with others and find contentment than just rinse lather and repeat :)

  • i give up, IGIVEUP :(

  • @jeffbriggs1987 don't give up :)

  • I could listen to Alan Watts speak for Hours..that man was amazing..where are the people like him now?

  • @KyleRayKeith here I am!

  • @KyleRayKeith Everywhere... they are just little tired so they are asleep. : )

  • @MK88N0M4D very clever..and very true..

  • Wow. This is fantastic and liberating to hear. Thank you for posting this video.

  • wow, can you believe I was actually enlightened whilst watching this vid! that was not nearly as hard as people were making out. I'm off to drink some tea.

  • sooothing man.....
