I WAS THERE!! I WAS IN COMPETITION WITH THEM!! i had a chance to talk with them and we shared some tricks we know with exhibition had alot of fun i miss high school drill =( o well cant wait for silent drill in the air force!!
@MrDickMoore I dont even see a single ariel though.. this is all just count manual stuff and just a single one hand spin... stuff i learned my first day. I'm not going to lie, this stuff is pretty much silent so thats a bit harder. And it sounds nice, but the tricks themselve arent that difficult
@MDJFilms "tricks". how long u been on a drill platoon? not long. it is a general rule that the more men in a platoon or squad, the simpler the routine can be because the courdination to maintain dress, cover, and cadence is a feet in itself. smaller units perform more "tricks." check out the marine corp silent drill platoon. not that difficult on the whole because the courdination is so hard. the air force honor guard however, spins much more because they are so much smaller.
@MrDickMoore If you get a collection of guys who can do those difficult tricks, you can definitely put harder tricks into a routine. I mean at least a double in a platoon or flight would be easy enough. there isnt much spinning, just count manual like I said. And even with all those people, add a double shouldnt be difficult at all.
@pasfreak Nope, thats not. Only the national Honor Guard does that for a living... AND they barely do it. Do you realize spinning rifles is an extremely small part of their job? They do a CRAPLOAD of ceremonial stuff compared to spinning rifles. Pallbearing, Colorguard, etc. Also, the Honor Guards you've probably seen aren't from the national Honor Guard, I bet you they were unit Honor Guards. Those people have actual jobs and Honor Guard is an outside thing. So no, that is NOT their job.
@MDJFilms I have seen the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team numerous times, actually. As in the national one.
and the USAFA Cadet Honor Guard does the crapload of ceremonial stuff you mentioned as well. And thats on top of going to school and everything else they do. So no, you can't exactly expect them to be quite as precise and perfect as the people that do this for a living.
the people critisize these people for every little mistake but trust me these are not easy i'm a freshman in high school and i am in the afjrotc program and just normal marching is hard and i have seen the students on the armed drill and it isn't easy.
yea agreed but marching gets easier after awhile and as soon as u can learn 15count manuel arms on rifle and ull be golden to kno how to do these armed drills, take it from me, im a 2Lt in afjrotc in quincy,ma
I'm in my second year of afjrotc and I can march. I have always been one of the best marchers. Marching does get easier and second nature. I walk down the halls and keep cadence with friends. I have joined my female color guard and just in practice it can be difficult to control not only where you're going, keeping dress and cover with others, but you have to worry about your gun. If you're to close whether in dress or in cover you can hit someone else' gun or someone else.
We were. Class teams from the early 80's dominated the competition.
Those teams perfected the double reverse "ripple line" still done to this day. And my class did it with 24 members, 12 per side. Extremely difficult to perform cleanly.
I agree with you, they are off in many instances and some guys keep fucking up while they walk. The only thing i like about them are the r.lines and the leftflank they do at the end of the routine, when they delay their heads, other than that, this was a crappy performance, and this year they are doing ecatly the same stuff, slight changes but wow, not so good anymore.
Routine is very easy, but very sharp. Sharpness makes the routine look very nice in any arm reg ex.
