Do they have this for first timers or, would it be best to get an electric model first? I plan on buying one of these. Right now I'm thinking of getting the nitro model. Cause I like those way better than electric.
@RTiger18 Its all a matter of who you have at hand to train you. I learnt by myself with a simulator and a electric heli with a training bar. If you've got a field nearby and people who fly nitros too, go ahead and get the nitro one and get them to help you out. if you dont, go electric for a first heli and when you get good, get yourself a nitro bird . hope this helps and happy flying!
Im a newbie with a nitro. My main complaint is that as a newbie you tend to spend a lot of time sliding around on the ground and doing "bunny hops" in a small area with training gear. As you are doing this the nitro gets ALL OVER the helicopter. After 2 tanks or so the oil from the nitro is all over everything. Its messy. This would not be such an issue if you could hover at a decent height, or do forward flight. If I had to do it again, I would probably start with a large electric.
@Kpilot786457 hello.. I've got no idea what you mean by gearbox, i fly both electrics and nitros, and both have the pinion on the motor/engine connected straight to the main gear on the rotor shaft.
Yup. All te electronics such as the gyro, servos, and receiver are powered by a 7.4v lipo, routed via a regulator. Besides using a regulator, you could also use a normal 4.8v ni cd batt or ni mh batt.
@feldmuis the flight time of a nitro is about 8 minutes (a raptor 50 with an OS engine) but can go up to (a raptor 30 with a smaller 30 sized engine). this makes the flight time about the same as an electric, but the advantage of nitro being that there is no change in power throughout the flight time, compared to electric batts that will start becoming lethargic after about 5 minutes.
it comes with it and i have heard nothing but great reviews about ppl using them. I dont have a 2801 so i cannot judge it but my 2402 works fine so far on my little cb180d. have you had issues with a 2801 or a walkera tx?
yeah i was going WTF too.. but i didnt know walkera made nitros. and i got abit confused with the tx too. kinda thought it was the stock walkera one you were reffering too :\ i myself have no experience on Walkera tx's tho.
I know people would say start with the cheap electric foamy stuff and they are right. I will do that but should I go for planes first? or Helis first?
i used to think that way too but good quality e-helis like the one i mentioned are very reliable, and much much less headache compared to nitro! thats why i fly a trex 500 as my practise heli!
whats the flight time on a full tank and the range if possible.

U forgot to say don't stand next to the heli when spoiling it up

you can pick one of these up shipped for around 470 off ebay. how can u complain about that? plus it has the super bad wk-2801 tx.
progamerIII 2 years ago
yeah i have one of those stock Walkera Tx's. i wouldnt risk flying a nitro bird with one of those.

i was watchin walkera #83 videos and for some reason thought this was one. and its a raptor 50. anyhow 470 is for a rtf walkera #83.
just correcting this incase ppl are goin wtf where hehe.

Excuse me, but I want to fly a Nitro RC.
What should I get first?
I know people would say start with the cheap electric foamy stuff and they are right. I will do that but should I go for planes first? or Helis first?
and how much does good kit cost around.
Naturepheonix 2 years ago
i doesnt really matter whether you go for helis or planes first. just get what you like.
a good nitro kit should cost around 1000-1500 usd (yes its expensive)
otherwise you can go electric for much lesser. best drop by your local hobby shop and ask :D
Bomberboy92 2 years ago
Okay :)
I guess I'll get the hand sized planes and Heli's first.
Then a simulator...
Thanks :)
Naturepheonix 2 years ago
just remember tho.. smaller helis> more unstable!
Bomberboy92 2 years ago
what size would be the most affordable as in nitro. as well as a good size.
Naturepheonix 2 years ago
if you are looking for lower cost i'd say rather go for a electric heli like a trex 450 or mini titan. much cheaper and pretty stable too
Bomberboy92 2 years ago
I wouldn't fly electric heli's
Seem unreliadble.
And I don't like electric rc's that much. Except for Trainers :)
