  • The last raven featured ... a specially lucky raven it was in this wide weary world. It witnessed the meeting of two young gifted magical minds.

I imagine it flew away just so it could show the splendor in the symmetry of its feathers...

...feathers only to be seen best on the back side.

  • wow that is a amazing poem

  • thanks Matt!

  • Beautifully constructed, just the right amount of sadness!

  • Thank you Mark ;)

  • Raven, after viewing your video I was left, for a long long while, just staring at the comment box not really knowing what to say. This was that good! I really wanted to write something, I had to, but anything I could say would just be a gross understatement. So, I'll just say your poem is one of the best I have found in a very long time: it's beautiful, quite quite sad, romantic and yet tragically (...)

  • (...) aware of the human condition. It's so powerful it cuts...but in a good way. Thank you so much for this, really.

    Keep well...

    Rui Pedro

  • Thank you Rui, your comment here means a great deal to me :)

  • I guess its hopeful to think that there is that someone out there that would fill the gabs... but I think that even in the most fulfilling relationships one is still stuck with their existential isolation that can never really be soothed until we return to the consistancy of inorganic matter.

  • Yes it is not others that decide our loneliness or contentment, only ourselves :)

  • Simply brilliant. This gets better with every viewing.

    Bless you sweet princess.

  • Thank you very much Bill ^^

  • I loved it! It seems so easy to relate to.. You are a magnificent writer!

  • Thank you Jordan! The kind of writing I like best is the kind that makes sense and says something - I think that is the kind I try to write too. Sometimes with success, sometimes not so much, hehe. Here I was happy with how this one turned out :)

  • This stirs up some surprisingly deep felt and buried emotions. You are amazing!

  • Thank you very much Darl!

  • Your words caused me to reflect and mourn on my lost love. Yet, I feel less sad knowing my angst can be universally shared through your words. Thank you, talented one. I wish you a better fate.

  • Thank you Fritz, I wish you the very same :)

  • What song is at the end of the video with the raven? It sounds so very familiar but I can't place it.

  • Hi Claire! :) It is 'Artifact of the Living' - from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. The music in that film is just brilliant!

  • lol I knew it sounded familiar!! I love that movie so much. Thanks Raven <3

  • Splenditd!!!

  • Thank you Beeke!

  • OMG! you never cease to amaze me, that was utterly brilliant. I LOVE your work.

  • Thank you! More is on its way ^^

  • :) i like

  • thank you! ;)

  • Very nice

    :-)

  • thanks Twish!!

  • Pretty! I like the effect you used for the voice. It reminded me of something but I can't figure out what it was.

One of the birds sounded like one we have here. It doesn't chirp. It just makes a weird sound.

  • Yes I've started having fun playing around with the audio tracks a bit more now, including the voiceovers.

Yes I think I know the one you mean. Maybe that bird was the dove? The one that kind of warbles. Or perhaps it was a wood pigeon, hehe!

  • Beautiful...as always. Elegant sadness. Two ships that pass in the night but on a parallel course. I love your style, so Gothic. Reminiscent of Poe or Byron.

  • I love the description 'elegant sadness' :) I think there is something beautiful about grace maintained even in sorrow.

  • Oh, my word! I was blindsided by this one; it fits my mood rather well, too well. You never cease to amaze me, and I wish my responses could repay you even a fraction of the beauty that you share with me and all of the other denizens of Youtube.

  • Thank you so very much Brian :) Anyone who takes the time out of their lives to sit for a moment and watch one of my videos has repaid me enough already ;)

  • this is a beautifully written poem, yet the context of the video and tone of voice.. it sounds rather eery :')

  • Yes I quite agree there is a definite element of eeriness here!

  • beautiful

  • thank you :)

  • An amazing poem. shame it is not true. I really do not believe there is a match for me in this world. i am too strange ;)

  • I wouldn't say that. I'm very very quirky but I found my match online. Our two year anniversary is in July and he's going to be here to visit me again in 5 days. I flew to see him for my Winter Break.

  • Well perhaps i will have some luck then. Does he live far away ?

  • Oh just over four and a half thousand miles. ;P

  • wow. that is a very long distance relationship :)

  • I believe it is often the strangest of us who find the truest matches :) I hope so for my own sake, hehe!

  • very beautiful

  • thanks sheryl!

  • Beautiful poem and music. At least the internet causes our minds to cross XD. Peace and sin dios.

  • hehe, quite true :)

  • Beautiful.

  • thank you Janeczka! :)

  • Once again your delicate dance with the written word entreats the ear, Lady Raven; a sweet soliloquy to that great inspirational hope of the romantic heart. Well placed in its length, a wonderful shift of focus achieved with the internal rhyme, quite justly in its use turning the meter with a fine and pivotal touch. You craft these elegant lines of yours with such grace as befitting a lady, not only in your persona but your abilities. Your visuals form a nice metaphor for the piece, and ...

  • (cont'd) ... your soundtrack a wonderful touch. A very nice piece indeed, and another of yours for my favorites. Being rather old school in my means of appreciation, might I request you also include the lines in the 'more info' panel?

  • Thank you dear Michael, your comments are poetry in themselves, your observations are so keen and your thoughts always mean a great deal to me :)

I have added the text of the poem in the info panel and have this time also added captions on the video from a transcription file (which are timed quite well except for a string of gobbledygook characters at the very beginning and end, hehe. I couldn't seem to fix those ^^)

  • Fantastic!!

  • Thank you Dave!

  • comment -cont-

Just continue "calling" and "showing your colors" with great works of art like this. One day, "your flock" will hear your cries, recognize one of it's own, circle around and land all around you! Hehe! ^^ : )

    ***

I would also join film and writing clubs online and at Uni. Your match is out there, you just have to work a little to find him. : )

  • Simply a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

I especially like it because it reminds me of how lucky I am that I found the crossing of those lines...

  • I am so glad to hear you have :) There are few things more beautiful then when two lives cross with such joy.

  • Thank you. It is indeed one of the most wonderful things that can happen. I wish you the best of luck in finding your own as well :)

  • Wow Raven, absolutely magnificent!! <3 -Claire

  • Cheers, Lovely....well done

  • thank you! :)

  • The Video: Wow! Jen. I'm just stunned I've never used that word before in a comment. This poetry is just so good! A cut above most poetry IMO. You are confirming my belief that you have a gift for words, stories, and writing. The whole composition was so intriguing and balanced. The metaphore for birds representing lonely people was clear. I loved the echoey narration. The cinematography was great, but the poetry? -Amazing! I feel I am watching a story presented on TV! : ) ~Pro Quality~

  • And a wow back for you too! :) Thank you for such a wonderful comment Bri!

  • One of your best I think .. So nice :)))

  • Thank you!

  • -Just a personal thought first: You are just defining yourself as a budding Artist/Writer. As yet, you do not know exactly what type of "bird" you are. Once you know that, then you will find your flock, and among that flock, your future mate! : ) -It just takes time. A few years maybe. I'm out of space so I will write another note about the video itself...

  • Very nice.Thanks Raven.

  • thank you :)

  • But then again, sometimes the paths do cross, which makes you wonder how easy it would have been to miss that connection.

    Currawongs in the morning. :DDD

  • Aw I should send some of screeching parrots your way to make you feel more at home in the mornings, hehe! ^^

  • Loved this. The search for the "one true love" has always intrigued me. Did mine live in the past? Is she even born yet?

  • exactly! ^^

  • nice, i liked the!

  • thank you!!

  • Hi Raven,

Thanks for posting this; it is a fine piece of work, which I enjoyed on so many levels.

I liked the bird images, the great swirling flock that finally alighted on the power cables, and the pied bird (was it a type of raven?). As usual, your writing is wonderfully clear and lucid and gives me ideas and imagery.

Time and space are curved, and even parallel lines wobble... so eventually, in one of our incarnations, we will find the perfect love we seek.

    Regards, Peter

  • Hi Nordicsky,

I read your comment and liked what you said. I take comfort in the belief in future lives too. It takes a lot of the pressure off to think, we don't have to get everything right in just one short lifetime. Cheers, friend. Brian. : )

  • Thank you Peter! Your final sentiment is beautiful - I will remember that :)

The pied bird at the beginning of the video was an Australian Magpie - I love their range of calls ^^

  • This was very enjoyable, thank you :D

  • thanks Perry! :)

  • Very fine prose and an atmospheric vid as well. You're a rennaissance woman.

Have you ever considered recording a professional spoken word CD or MP3?

  • Thank you very much Mars :)

I haven't really considered making a proper spoken word recording or CD, but it might be something fun to work towards!

  • Wonderful. I can hear that you have been influenced by the Elizabethan poets, and your work does them justice, and I do know what I am saying. your brother in words, john
