You can't upgrade Vista Home Basic to 7 Professional. There are certain upgrade paths you must abide by.

You can, however, use the Upgrade DISC with ANY version of Vista to do a clean install to Windows 7 Pro.

If you do a clean install, you'll have to backup your files, jot down the apps you have installed on Vista, and be ready for your hard drive to be wiped. Once the Win 7 install is done, transfer back your files and reinstall your apps.

WHats so good about 7 i mean i have it its the same thing as vista ihad vsita before i had vista dulbooting xp and now i have 7 dualbooting xp. Like its faster and all that but ntohing new just add new effects i love 7 but im just saying

If you have Windows Vista you can use the Upgrade option, which keeps everything where it is (including your install applications) and upgrades your computer to Windows 7.

If you have Windows XP, you must perform a clean install (optional in Windows Vista) which places everything that's currently in the Users, Windows, and Program Files folders, and places them in a folder called "Windows.old" and removes everything else to install a clean copy of Windows 7.
