The music in this game is great. The storyline, amazing. And the voice acting is good - EXCEPT Gabriel. Jesus Christ, Tim Curry, what the hell were you thinking?

There is a cd version of this game with voices. In that version there is no need to use DosBox or any other emulators. The game works great on Windows.

This game is so frickin' epic, I went off to college not knowing how to beat it, came back from college after the World Wide Web had been invented and found a website that told me how to pixel-hunt for the g-damned hole in the wall on the final day of the game, and beat it in 1999. 1999!

I still have it but alas a virus ate the other two classic games I had on my old machine, "Indiana Jones 4" and Dune 2, and I fear it'll do the same to GK if I play it. Sweet dreams after you visit the tomb!

In 1993, you had Gabriel Knight: Sins Of The Fathers, Day Of The Tentacle, and, well, Myst (Mac only). I'm hard-pressed to tell which one of the 3 was the best, but the first 2 are the climax (and end) of an era (2d point and click), and Myst, though many hated it, the beginning of a new style (pseudo 3D going toward 3D). I think Gabriel Knight is the best, but is much less known. Well, Gabriel Knight had the best story, Day Of The Tentacle the best puzzles and humor, and Myst the best graphics.

Wow! Just...wow. cubex55, you have created a thing of beauty. It's amazing that after 17 years this game still looks good, and is smarter than most current releases.

The only fly in the ointment is that Tim Curry, as much as I love him, does singularly the WORST New Orleans accent in history. (but despite the horrid accent, he is still a phenomenal voice actor)

I bought this game back in 1993....It took me FOREVER to finish. Those were the days when you didn't have spoilers or cheat codes. This game is truly innovative and unique. I fell in love with the midi scores by Robert Holmes. I still love the music when Gabriel meets Magenta Moonbeam for the first time!

I think I've completed this game about 10-15 times or so and I still do it once a year or so, because it's the most brilliant story ever to appear in a game.

I've heard so much about the series but never had the chance to play even one of the games. After seeing this I'll look for it and play. Incredible story and graphics, fascinating atmosphere and awesome voice-acting. Pitty they don't make games lke this anymore. :( The adventure genre can offer so much to the player especially when it comes to brain-work (not like some fancy 3D shooter where you get pains in the fingers and brake your mouse :| ). this is when sierra couldnt make a bad game. the story lines are what kept us coming back, not the snazzy graphics of todays games. I wish i could play this game again!
