Tibet had never been attacked by foreign militarily before 1720.
Even after Qing’s sending troops to Tibet in 1720, Tibet has its own army with a truck record of fighting on their own against the invasion of UK in 1903 (Qing took the attitude of neutrality as events in other countries). So Tibet had been a complete independent country.
