  • @kjv1203He did but not many. I believe less then ten.

  • Prince, at the battle of Cannae didn't Hannibal still have his elephants he began his campaign with? My memory may not be so well as i no longer have the literature to lay proof to my claim but i don't believe he had lost his elephants by the time of the battle of Cannae. Let me know if I'm mistaken please

  • Nice videos prince. You have the best commentaries in all of the Youtube land.

  • Hey prince me and my friend like your videos. would we be ever able to play you i recently got rome total war. And I might actually will get better playing you and it would be an awesome first video of me playing you. So if you could respond if you wish to. if not i understand.

  • Lol, imagine if alexander fought rome.

  • Victumromanius he said that he was sneakier than a spartan kid

  • What is a hammer and anvil stikre?

  • @TheElite3740

you engage an enemy unit with your unit and the resulting conflict holds the enemy unit in one place (this represents the 'anvil') then you repeatedly charge the rear of the enemy unit with cavalry (this represents the hammer bashing the 'metal' against the anvil) hopefully thats an adequate decision.

  • Why didn't you use elephants, Hannibal used them a lot

  • Both were Great generals. Althought alexander was fighting a decaying empire and Hannibal was fighting a empire which was on the way ot greatness.

I wish Hannibal would be the ruler of ALL Carthage. Then he would have defeated the Romans by sending reinforcements. :(

  • It s kind of ironic for all his tactical brilliance and with all his victories in the end was a total failure Rome never fell despite his crushing blows and he was out smarted out fought and defeated decisively on his own ground. He failed in the end.

  • Shit

  • this isn't a what if battle it's a as if battle

  • It's likely for Hannibal to retreat from the battle field.

  • @wayne0911

people look to retreating as bad, but alexander did not retreat at the battle of the hypdese river and then he could not couqner india

  • well you know more than i do, it was just something i had heard, its just when i think of great commanders alexander, ceasar even rommel comes before in my mind, but admitidly i know little about hannibal

  • Hannibal was kind of forced to use any tactic he could during the Punic wars because he didn't get adequate troops or support from Carthage when invading Italy and fighting against Fabian...

  • No, no no! Hannibal had 28.900 men exactly!

  • Hannibal's formation was not like that. It was kind of a semi-circle. Then, at Cannae when the first line of Polybian Infantry started to throw their deadly Pila, and then charging into Hannibal's lines, his infantry retreated...

  • you know i heard that all in all hannibal wasnt actually that great of a commander, his crossing of the alps was famous but the historical battle in rome total war, cant remember the name, was his brothers idea to hide his cavalry

  • @lUnseenSniperl what battle you talking about?

  • @stevenhaful its in rome total war, it might be the battle of the river trebia, the one where he hid his cav in the woods and lured the romans in to a trap

  • @lUnseenSniperl well id disagree with the view that he wasn't a great commander as in cannae he did not ambuish the romans at all he just used his reserves to to surround them from three sides and then finish them off with his cavarly all while he was out numbered 2-1

  • hannibal im reading about right now, amazing guy.

  • This is the match up I really wanted to see. Hannibal is by far my favorite historical commander. His use of strategem and misdirection against his opponents is what I base my own style of warfare in the Total War series on. Hannibal, however would have to be very clever indeed to defeat Alexander's excellent grasp of the situation in every battle, and his ability to adapt quickly to setbacks. Awesome battle. :)

  • rome total war is better then empire total war?

  • @24josepablo yes.

  • @24josepablo

Of course RTW is better is ETW! RTW is the ultimate Total War game :D

It's a matter of taste though, of course. I know a lot of people that like ETW though, so...

  • i think amexander the great would flee if it ment he could fight another day.

  • @ScrewPrinceofMacedon You made an acount to hate on someone, you have no right to tell someone they have no life.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... He plays pc for 5, maby 6 hours per WEEK ;) you are preety jealous

  • uhmm hey prince of macedon how do u charge range units to other units for exampole numidian calvary. if i turn off the skirmisher mode and target a enemy they would still fire hwo can i siwtch them to mellee combat

  • @PrinceofMacedon Is it better to be in the phalanx formation while fighting infantry like Urban Cohorts or Legionaries or out of phalanx formation?

  • like it if you thing princ_of_macedon is great comander

  • @gapicarko Like whore

  • Do you just pay all these guys off to lose? You lucky bastard

  • king leonidas vs julius caesar please

  • maybe it could be 2v2 carthage and gaul vs macedon and greeks?

  • Gladiator music! Nice taste, prince.

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Hannibal use Elephants in his army composition? Great vid btw, huge fan of your skills playing the total war games :)

  • I think "what if" battles are my favorites!!!

  • That starting cav charge was cheeky! You put spearmen inside your cavalry so it looked like you were just being unatentive to it, Definately a hannibal move right there! Lol.

  • Fuck this shit I just play deadliest warrior 2 and pit alexander and hannibal agianst each other in one on one.

  • I love you're battles, but would'nt it be intersting if Genghis Khan and Saladdin fought each other?

  • n1

  • As great as alaexander was, i think hanabil would have won if they fought. it would be the most epic batle in history

  • @kantanaman525 Well, Hannibal disagrees with you, he himself said that Alexander III of Macedon was the greatest general to ever live, then was Pyrrhus of Epirus followed by Hannibal himself.

  • Just downloaded a demo for Deadliest Warrior: Legends on the Xbox. I commanded Alexander the Great against Vlad the Impaler. I had my own little 'What-if' battle. :p

Anyways, great vid Prince. Entertaining as always.

  • I doubt very much that you will reply to this prince but have you ever lost a battle on rome total war?

  • @JKno1 ya he has but not since january 2009 i belive he said that in one of his vids.

  • @Yacovsup Yeah but thats what he tells you. Big difference between the matches hes actually played under all the different names and the battles he shows us. It could be true but I for one highly doubt it.

  • @JKno1 Ya i kind of dout it because sometimes people dont follow the rules and bring ele or ha or annoying thing like that...

  • Man I don't care what mood I am in, every time I see one of PrinceofMacedon's videos of Rome: Total War, I suddenly get in the mood of playing that game.

  • Wow! I like the soundtrack of the end. It`s from "Gladiator" movie?

  • Well, i think if Hannibal Barca would had a fought with The Great Alexander, probably, Alexander won the battle.

PS> Excuse my bad English feelows. I am Romanian. :D

  • Prince I would like to thank you for reuniting my ex and I.

Because of your videos I got the feeling of playing Rome Total War again. I opend the box and gues what i found? The number of my ex-girlfriend. I called her up and know where happy in a 3 months relationship.

Thanks alot prince i will always give your videos thumps up even if i don`t like the context :)

p.s. sorry for my english if its really bad :P

  • @kevinhomaster

I've heard that a lot of successful relationships has RTW as an ingredient.

For example, I had an realllly annoying girlfriend who could NOT take hints. I played RTW for 2 days in a row and then realized I had missed meeting her 5 hours ago haha.

She broke up with me........ As i said, SUCCESS! :D

  • I love you videos, continue uploading pleeeeaseee!!! :DD

  • chandra gupta warrior vs alexander the great chandra is a indian general, a member of the subcontinent which DEMOLISHED alexeander

  • @poppytom5 You realize Alexander never lost a battle right?

  • @DonChristoph57 He did, but I don't remember the name of the battle, but it was in India and his dog was killed in this battle while it tryed to save Alexander after he was injured by a javelin which destroyed one of his lungs, it was a short time after he got better he turned back to Babylon where he died.

  • @DonChristoph57 well..... shoot, ur right. but hey, chandra was a famous indian general who i dont believe was around at alexander's time. But technichally alexander had to retreat in the subcontinent of india because of numerous factors, one of them being i believe the major use of elephants in the indian armies, a weapon he never faced before.

  • Nice man. I cant play online cuse its some stupid bugg or something. I change the password then when i type it in it says Wrong password :( Can someone help me please?

  • dont u mean hannibal lectar?

  • @sephiroth8261 Lectar was a Cannibal Not a Carthaginian Leader

  • @killerflame2 o sry. i just watch alot of films not really a history guy ;)

  • how awesome would it be if in the next battle, Heir of Carthage would command the Carthaginians and you would command the Macedonians =D

  • @GcLproductions We already played before. He commanded the Carthaginians. I commanded the Seleucids.

  • @PrinceofMacedon i know, but it would be really awesome in that scenario becouse Alexander is your favorite commander, and Hannibal is his.

  • @PrinceofMacedon I believe he ment for a what if battle XD

  • @PrinceofMacedon Dude, why did you call Hannibal "Spartan kid" in the description. Did he have any family members relating him to the greeks??? O_o

  • @VictumRoManius

It was a joke, brosephus maximus.

  • awesome ancient " what if " battle

  • are you going to do What if battles for Napoleon Total War?

  • Amazing battle - the scale of it, action all over the map! :P

  • Do you have a Bachelors in history or do you just read into this kinda stuff? It's really impressive, reminds me alot of my history professor, you two are like walking history encyclopedias.

  • Good stuff dude. The "what if" battles are definitely a cool new addition to your commentary videos. This makes me wanna play Rome Total War again.

  • wheres part 2?

  • @sos2121a dude, I just uploaded this yesterday. Give me some time, man.

  • @PrinceofMacedon lol sry i just thougt that i had a bug i thougt you already had played both games and had upploaded both but i couldnt see it :D sry

  • agamemnon vs alexander the great

  • it woud be awesome with a showdown of the winners !

PS. atilla the hun vs ghengis khan!

  • atilla the hun vs ghengis khan!

  • @ajbenius I know he did. I watched that video and it was very fun, I just say that it would be great if he would play with heir of carthage in the next video of this "WHATIF"

  • There's nothing more sweet than an ambush working. ;)

I for one admire Hannibal greatly. Looking forward for the rematch, though it aint gonna be the same thing since the new Hannibal won't be able to hide all his numidians...

  • this was a very exciting battle compared to the usual ones

  • I want to see Ramses The Great vs Vercengetorix.

  • I wonder how the Gaulic or Britannic tribes would have done against a phalanx army.

  • Alexander the Great vs his great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great unknown grandson Prince of Macedon. lol

  • TThese what if battles are awesome.. keep them up prince, I look forward to seeing more vids :)

  • This is wat would have happened to hannibal would have wrecked alexander

  • Pity the game doesn't allow the Gaulish warriors in Hannibals army,as they performed a crucial role when he was in Italy,as he had a supply of warriors on-hand for his army,so to speak.

  • @Rellana1 The mods allow it. But you have to be playing someone else with the mod.

  • Xerxes vs king leonidas

  • It's like a RTS version of Deadliest Warrior. :D

  • NAPOLEON

  • Do NAPOLEON, as NAPOLEON...

  • @yinghan307 yes!, that what iv been always saying like a month now.

  • Leonidus against xerxes plz

  • NAPOLEON VS SUVOROV :D i know u want it :P

  • OMG!!!!!! You did my request! This just made my summer :)

  • @darkxzero13 Actually, no. I made this video a few days ago. I already planned this one out.

  • If Alexander didnt die early how far do you think his empire would stretch?

  • good series but it seems like everyone you play makes really simple mistakes that cause them to lose

  • @PPMB100 I guarantee you that you would make all kinds of mistakes too if I played you.

  • Best*

  • Bed what if battle of them all pls keep goin mate!!!!!!!!

  • @roadking14 glad you enjoyed it, man

  • @PrinceofMacedon I wouldn't be surprised if you were a history teacher

  • @PrinceofMacedon hahaha I love the Gladiator music at the end, great movie btw,(even though historically it never happened), this battle was pretty epic, had me kinnda worried at the end for you because his infantry could have defeated your entire army, but confusing your opponent into doing a couple micro mistakes can always help that ;)

  • LOve these new videos please keep going

  • who would win

    spartan hoplites vs macedonian pikeman?

  • @covGuk history answers that one lol

  • @PrinceofMacedon and what is the answer?

    O.O

  • how abut Arminius vs Vercingetorix

  • DAAAM ur playing so much lately rtw!!! ive been playing alot but cant find u!!!! anyways good work on ur vids!

  • Prince, how about the two greatest generals of all time (according to Hannibal himself), Pyrrhus of Epirus (as Seleucids because his Elephants) vs. Alexander the Great (as Macedon). And great battle btw. :)

  • i almost thought he had you... then he ballsed up xD

  • Napoleon vs. Suvarov? I know you talked about Suvarov in some of your NTW vids (maybe ETW), so that'd be cool. Also, good job.

  • You could try Vercengetorix vs Boadicea ..

  • hey prince r u going to limit this to only rome total war or r u going to extend this to the other games. thanks and hope u reply back

  • you should do a Greek army vs Julius Caesar roman army

  • Very interesting battle,Nice ambush you had.

A Macedonian army with out cavalry is like a milkshake without milk lol

  • @WRH90059 oh gawd, don't say 'milkshake'...i'm craving one now lol

  • @PrinceofMacedon LOL i actually craved for one so that how my comment came along...still havnt got one,to cold to go anywhere lol

  • @WRH90059 lol im sub to you

  • @miketheawsomeful Thanks for beeing a subscriber :)

  • @WRH90059 no prob im the one whos b day was one of your vids

  • @miketheawsomeful sweetness !

  • Wonderful, waiting for seconf part!

  • could you do a vercingetorix vs queen boudicca battle?

  • Obviously that Alexander in the battle was an imposter.

  • @Guderian41 I would have to agree, along with Hannibal.Niether one of them would flee the field of battle.

  • You've been going heavy on the "what if" battles. I like it.

  • do Philip V from the battle of Cynoscephalae vs Antiochus III once more from thermopylae

  • Ever tried setting these battles with other famous total players in youtube? Attila16 or Empire Erwin Rommel would be interesting matches.

  • Love the music at the end.

  • Can you do a George Patton vs Alexander the great?

  • I believe Alexander would have won against Hannibal ( Hannibal himself decleared that Alexander was the best leader of an army to ever live, Pyrrhus of Epirus came after Alexander and Hannibal after Pyrrhus) if they met in real life, but none of them would have won against The Prince of Macedon!

  • can you do a battle between Attila the hun vs alexander the great? and nice battle :D

  • @bonglovesweed1995 thanks, but I really can't. The closest thing to the Huns (in RTW) are the Scythians. The Huns are only in the BI expansion (but there are no Macedonians).

  • @bonglovesweed1995

    Why Attila the hun?

  • @MUTurmXMU well because when alexander and attilla was at the top of their game, they were feared and respected by many and also they are great commanders.

  • @bonglovesweed1995 i havent played the alexander exspansion to RTW but in classic there is not really an attila the hun and in barb. invasion there is no alexander soz man :P

  • @bonglovesweed1995 that was done by deadlist warrior just not with a massive army

  • Comment removed

  • @bonglovesweed1995

I don't believe the Hunnic faction is available in Rome Total War. And I don't believe Greek armies are available in Barbarian Invasion either.

  • And well played my friend :)

  • @bonglovesweed1995 Alexander would have wn anyway because Atilla's army is mainly based on cavalry while Alexanders's phalanx uses a sarissa as its main weapon. This is a six metre long spear/lance and an excellent anti-cavalry weapon.

  • @Prussiaaccount well we never know until they battle it out.

  • Comment removed

  • you should make some empire/napoleon total war videos

    maybe washington vs napoleon

  • @dallas8061 Washington wasn't a military mastermind, congress picked him to lead the continental forces because of several factors. He looked like a leader - he was very tall and broad. He was from Virginia - this state was essentially in the middle of the thirteen colonies. This way no side of the colonies would have more influence. Thirdly, he had experience in the British army. Despite this experience he wasn't a splendid general. Maybe Benedict Arnold vs. Napoleon - now that would be nice.

  • @akopianarsen so destroying one of the greatest army's of that time with ragtag militia's, and a demoralized continental army doesn't make you a military mastermind.

  • @3cufc98 Not only did washington have much more troops he also had a homefield advantage. It took a long time for britain to bring in supplies or even troops. The largest contributing factor to the victory over England was due to the French navy blockading Yorktown. And the reason the US got French help was because of Arnold's contributions to the victory at Saratoga. It is widely known that Washington was no mastermind...read a book.

  • @akopianarsen good job you can read a book

  • I would say if both men had their army at its best ie. Hannibal before he crossed the alps Hannibal would win... although I still prefer Alexander

  • Napoleon Total War?

  • @LordWellington15 Nope, this is Rome Total War.

  • @PrinceofMacedon Ya, I know, I am just asking if you will be posting NTW anytime soon, although I still enjoy these "what if" scenarios.

  • @PrinceofMacedon how do u switch the mode where u switch weapons?

  • How come you haven't uploaded shogun 2 in a while?
