  • Blunt is WRONG. He claims the FCC and the SCOTUS oppose it but FAILES to state that the GOP majority of the SCOTUS ONLY holds that view and the new BUSH head of the FCC says that and NOT all the commissioners. The Fairness Doctrine PROTECT free speech and allows the public to hear opposing and important views regardless of it's bias. The PUBLIC owns the airwaves and the PUBLIC can do whatever they want with it.

  • Fairness Doctrine = Not fair at all.

  • False! the Fairness doctrine was not declared a violation of free speech by the supreme court. In fact, it upheld first amendment constitutionality in red lion broadcasting company v. FCC 8-0. check your facts.

ALSO it was only deemed a violation of free speech by the FCC after Reagan put in chairperson Mark S. Fowler, someone who wasn't even born in the US.

    GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT

  • Thank you...

  • Well put sir.

  • For the truth about the Fairness Doctrine go to thefairnessdoctrineDOTcc

  • I think that if we are going to silence free speech we should start with either the internet or the newspaper. Starting in the middle doesn't really make any sense unless we go after the most influential one, which is television.

  • Roy Blunt is the man.

  • Conservatives have no need to fear the fairness doctrine now that we know that no one takes the blow hards on GOP radio serious. If they did Mccain would not have been nominated and Obama would not be president. I listen to the GOP blowhards all the time because I like to hear how loony they get and it strenghtens/proves my view that they lie and have no logic. I would like to listen to liberal talk radio host however, there is no commercial radio station that plays them.

  • Because defeatism, Marxism and anti- Americanism doesn't get ratings. Listen to African morning shows and NPR---you'll get your craved brainwash.

  • do you all see what is happening? This is an all out war on freedom of speech. What are the libs so scared of. That they cannot compeat in the arena ideas? how embarrasing is Feinstein? She is a bitter fuddy duddy who wants to controll your freedoms. Libs think that conservatives are scarry fear mongers. Well we are just passionate about our freedoms spelled out in the bill of rights. And those who want to take that freedom away are not true Americans.

  • I think it's crazy to think that Feinstein and the like are so concerned about the patriot act thinking that it would take away some of our rights. Then she goes and supports something like the fairness doctrine. If I saw her or Pelosi on the street I'd want to bitch slap both of them!!

  • peolpe on both saids left and right you and not buy talk radio it was to be earned by the peopel i my not like the the right wing or the left wing say but if you do this Fairness Doctrine ps that shit well cost you your job in washington the Fairness Doctrine is almost like that damn fcc shit so that do it

  • Many decent, smart, inlfuential, reasonably well informed people say this "fairness" doctrine could never happen here. That scares me, because to say that it cannot happen hear almost assures that it will.

  • Love your spunk, your spirit, and common sense.

  • Free market, ain't that a bitch?

  • if liberal radio could get the ratings and make money, liberal radio would be everywhere. but liberal radio can't compete so the liberals want the broadcast stations to subsidize there desire to voice their viewpoints. as their will be little paid advertising a.m. talk radio would be forced to devote half their airtime without just compensation. if the fairness doctrine is reinstated you might as well kiss english language a.m. radio goodbye.

  • says the cunts who can't compete in the market place...

  • "BRING BACK THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE"

What good will it do you? When we all tune you out like we did Air America will our wives and children be arrested and thrown into gulags? You have billions of opportunities to hear left wing viewpoints with PCs, Ipods, and Air America. You do not have the right to silence the opposition. This is another october revolution parading itself as "fairness". The reality is you are attempting to force yourselves on people who do not wish to hear you.

  • Your kind is losing ground in this country.

    we are sick of it

  • And the real kick in the ass is that the Spanish radio will get to say WHATEVER THEY WANT!

  • Now how are the democrats going to get the FCC to fine C-SPAN for allowing Blunt to make his speech? How are they going to do that? Oh, it's enough to make a liberal bald from frustrated hair-pulling!

  • Thank you for standing up for our country's freedoms. Well done.

  • The License holders control the broadcast outlet. These license holders; the boards of directors, employees of the broadcast outlets that control the content are mostly conservatives. Therefore requiring broadcast licensees to present controversial issues of public importance, and to present such issues in an honest, equal and balanced manner won't happen unless The Fairness Doctrine is reinstated.

  • So, drvitore...you'd be all for forcing NBC, ABC, CNN, CBS, AND HBO to move toward rightwing politics? HMMMM?

  • "requiring broadcast licensees to present controversial issues of public importance, and to present such issues in an honest, equal and balanced manner won't happen unless The Fairness Doctrine is reinstated."

Air America presented nothing but extremist radical programming and nobody listened. We will only use our CD players rather than the radio when the doctrine is brought back. Will you ban CD players to prevent this? The left is destroyed by free will alone, of course you hate it.

  • A license permits broadcasting, but the licensee has no constitutional right to be the one who holds the license or to monopolize a... frequency to the exclusion of his fellow citizens. U.S. Supreme Court, upholding the constitutionality of the Fairness Doctrine in Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC, 1969.P.S. folks get pissed when the richest sports teams dominate as a result of unequal and unbalanced practices.

  • I think all media should be fair, so lets give 1/2 time to each side on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSN, FOX and all the Major New papers now that would be fair. What do you Libs think about that? If people wanted to hear LIBS Air America would still be on. You can't stop or win a debate fairly so you have to cry like little Wussies! Waa Waa Waa!
