Holy crap; I remember this cartoon. I have actually been searching for the xxx of tomorrow cartoons. I grew up in the 70's and remember watching these (in re runs). Thanks for the post.
Paul Frees narrates this cartoon. The last part of this cartoon involves the planet Mars, and ironically, Frees would narrate an entire episode of the Disneyland show called "Mars and Beyond".
It's interesting that today's TV's don't have knobs, you don't ask if its in "color" or b&w model, and none of these TV's of the future show any possible innovation other than the impossible. But it's still interesting to watch something made some 60 years ago.....on a Plasma Computer Monitor/TV
Terrific example of the anti-television campaign that the film industry instituted in the 50s to keep people in the theatres and out of their living rooms.
@edthewise Actually, during the production of the cartoon the CBS field-sequential color system came to an end due to its uncompatibility, leaving RCA's compatible color as the only feasible option for color TV. Surprisingly, the system was approved by the NTSC shortly after the cartoon was released.
I feel so happy that ima cry out of happiness for coming across this cartoon that ive been trying to find for so long! these cartoons I haven't seen this since I was so you young and every time I try to describe it to anyone I feel like I look crazy cause they never know what I'm talking about lol. Im so glad I remember Tex avery and typed it in the internets. Time to go find more!
OHH! I am so glad i found this, Does anyone have a list of all of these, Right now i am watching Farm of Tomorrow, I was watching Boomerang and it came on, thats how i was able to find this one. I remember there was Several of these type, There was a house of tomorrow, this one, Farm one, anyone else know any? Also There was once where they traveled across the world and visited different cultures and poked fun, I wanna find all the ones like this where it did not focus on a certain character.
I think it was a thing on the History Channel that said 7 of the top 10 shows in the late 50s were all Westerns! GOTTA be better than reality TV shows!
Avery was right about one thing....Everything will be built around the TV set....There are people who have TV's in their bathrooms...I don't see myself spending that much time in there taking a crap LOL.
The cowboy stuff is so true! I have a few channels but still, it's all the same. A few days ago, 40 year old virgin was both in fox and warner channel and started at the same time, today are we there yet was ending in one channel and beginning in another, and daddy's day care was also in two channels.. and to know i pay for it.. it sucks!
I wouldn't say that the Amish have no technology. Here in Wisconsin they are allowed to own tractors as long as they take the tires off and have metal wheels put on within a year of purchase. Most of them also have electric water pumps, it just has to run on a battery or generator. Their idea behind this is that the electricity can be easily unhooked as opposed to getting it from a power company. They don't have tv or computers of course, but they are not completely without technology.
@Ecardz Now that there is one well-thought out idea for a Youtube Poop Edition of the TV of Tomorrow clips that involve the Cowboys. Those cowboy clips being replaced with "Never Gonna Give You Up" on every channel, in the theater, and from Mars!
If you think about it... we can actually use TV to do most of the stuff from that video, lol... Hook your xbox or playstation to your tv and you have access to internet (bid online), there is a variety of channels and they all show the same stuff, the one with fishing = Wii. Anyway, the cartoon is hilarious :)
