  • 2:37 FAIL

4:31 SPEECH IS VERY GAY MAN MY VIEW

  • Holy crap; I remember this cartoon. I have actually been searching for the xxx of tomorrow cartoons. I grew up in the 70's and remember watching these (in re runs). Thanks for the post.

  • @jpr733 Cool. You can find a list of Tex Avery MGM cartoons on wikipedia or my profile page. I think most are on youtube.

  • Just replace the cowboys with the Kardashians and "The Jersey Shore" and you have today's TV.

  • Paul Frees narrates this cartoon. The last part of this cartoon involves the planet Mars, and ironically, Frees would narrate an entire episode of the Disneyland show called "Mars and Beyond".

  • @felixthecatboy Yes. That's him.

  • Thought of everything but to make it a flat screen.

  • 2:40 The "never satisfied know-it-all" aka "tweeker".

  • Apple TV, one knob that does everything.

  • Replace everything with a laptop, thats today.

  • I'd be angry in the 50s every time planes passed by and fucked with my shows.

  • @baxterfilms Consider flak.

  • This takes me back a "FEW" years.

  • OMG!! U HAVE IT!! IMMA CRY NOW! :')

  • It's interesting that today's TV's don't have knobs, you don't ask if its in "color" or b&w model, and none of these TV's of the future show any possible innovation other than the impossible. But it's still interesting to watch something made some 60 years ago.....on a Plasma Computer Monitor/TV

  • 3:28 what we wish tivo did, in a way :P

  • Westerns=Rickrolls

That guy's reaction=the first FALCON PAWNCH

  • @megamanrocks99 Thus the Internet meme was born, decades before the Internet.

  • no bull the cowboy stuff of then is like reality shows today

  • great cartoon, but what would be good is have a botchamania ending and instead of cowboys being on every channel it's TNA Impact Wrestling

  • Cowboys be trollin

  • we've got a tv in the fridge now! The oven was very close!

  • Terrific example of the anti-television campaign that the film industry instituted in the 50s to keep people in the theatres and out of their living rooms.

  • @DoMadrid right before they figured out they could make money showing movie reruns :P

  • 2:20 - this guy in the middle, remind me little guy from info pictures in "Fallout"

  • know it all set & commercial disposal ftw

  • Ah! Thank you for uploading this. I've been thinking about this cartoon for years but I couldn't think of what to search for.

  • Narration by Paul Frees. You may recognize his voice from many Hanna-Barbera cartoons also

  • @billc756 Plus, he was in 1776.

  • nice :D

  • Some TV's for people who squint.....

  • COLOR TV WAS AN OPTION IN

    1953??

  • @edthewise Actually, during the production of the cartoon the CBS field-sequential color system came to an end due to its uncompatibility, leaving RCA's compatible color as the only feasible option for color TV. Surprisingly, the system was approved by the NTSC shortly after the cartoon was released.

  • its so weird watching this 50 years into the "future"

  • That fishing trip TV looks like it would be even more addictive to play at work than Minecraft or Farmville. :P

  • 5:27 just like the wii

  • 1:49 Before the "One knob" vision became the remote control.

  • Good morning! hah

  • Were getting a picture... were getting a picture... and this is it.!!!... RICK ROLLED 50's STYLE!!!

  • Wish was that futuristic before

  • like if you squinted to see what the tv had on it for those who squint

  • @ 6:46 I guesse the martians must be trollin'.

  • 3:01 try putting that in a cartoon today and the feminists will kill you.

  • over the rainbow?

  • 5:58-6:09 this is why i dont go to casinos anymore

  • 1:54 apple tv

  • I think it was a thing on the History Channel that said 7 of the top 10 shows in the late 50s were all Westerns! GOTTA be better than reality TV shows!

  • It's amazing they couldn't imagine anything better than analogue black and white TVs.

  • Just replace the cowboy stuff with reality shows, and TV is no different now.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd buy that Ad removing one. :)

  • @EccentricGentelman I laughed my ass off at that one! Priceless!

  • I showed this to my parents and they laugthed at the cowboy bits. Aparently it was true at the time.

  • Gotta love 1950s visions of "(insert object name here) of tomorrow".

Well, today is their tomorrow. All we have are 3D, High-def, Quattron, and plasma now.

  • 2:38 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA EL HOMBRE QUE ESTA ADENTRO DEL TELEVISOR TIENE CARA DE RETRASADO

  • May be all the Martians are all cowboys LOL.

  • will theres an app for that hahah

  • 3:30-3:40

I fully endorse this TV idea.

  • The background announcer on this toon is the great voice artist, the late Paul Frees.

  • Could be worse, those scientists would have seen a Martian version of "Jersey Shore"!

  • @TimelordR true. seen the south park episode about it?

  • he must have dish network

  • Comment removed

  • I hate how close those people sit so close and don't realize it could ruin their vision.

  • 13 people were cowboy roll'd

  • 4;31 There is something WRONG witrh the guy behind him!!

  • Avery was right about one thing....Everything will be built around the TV set....There are people who have TV's in their bathrooms...I don't see myself spending that much time in there taking a crap LOL.

  • Cowboy Roll'd.

  • anyone remember a cartoon that had a mini mix concrete truck that all he wanted to do was work with big concrete mixers?

  • 5:20 Inspiration for the Wii ?

  • @arsheenE Well, the guy in that one definitely isn't a gamer, since he didn't fare very well at fishing.

  • No more dragging dad away from the set for dinner...because most families don't eat dinner together anymore.

  • 1:23 "Actually, the home of tomorrow will be built around the television set."

Well I'll be damned... We don't have hover cars or all those other kinds of technology they thought we would, but one of their predictions was right.

  • I love this Cartoon. The Hopping TV image is so darn frustrating!

  • the aliens on mars look like people :P

  • now we need a tv to dispose of those over-rated reality shows

  • ppl should stop rick rolling and start cowboy horse riding :p

  • @5aled32 Why not? The Amish still do.

  • @TheTallMan35 Actually, the Amish have aboslutely no technology. They don't think it's necessary, and that makes me very annoyed (who wouldn't be?).

  • @Mk97709

I wouldn't say that the Amish have no technology. Here in Wisconsin they are allowed to own tractors as long as they take the tires off and have metal wheels put on within a year of purchase. Most of them also have electric water pumps, it just has to run on a battery or generator. Their idea behind this is that the electricity can be easily unhooked as opposed to getting it from a power company. They don't have tv or computers of course, but they are not completely without technology.

  • I think cowboys where the 1950's version of a rickroll

  • @Ecardz Now that there is one well-thought out idea for a Youtube Poop Edition of the TV of Tomorrow clips that involve the Cowboys. Those cowboy clips being replaced with "Never Gonna Give You Up" on every channel, in the theater, and from Mars!

  • @Ecardz were

  • LMFAO at 6:49

  • Don't know if i should be happy or sad that everything was right

  • Too bad we dont have all of those crazy design in 2010! XD

  • 1:42 Good news: World War 2 was over.

Bad news: The Cold War has begun and that TV has a problem of friendly firing our flyboys.

  • 3:11 is almost possible

  • This was way before the Internet, On Demand and DVRs were even conceived. Brought back memories when I watched "Acme Hour".

  • 1:33 TERRORIST TERRORIST!!!!!!!!

  • 6:50 western rolled =(|

  • o goodness i feel so high tech with my TV remote and HDTV

  • ...and on the sixth day, God invented cable! ^_^

  • Comment removed

  • anyone notice no remote for any of the tv's

  • @esmedin well back then they didn't have remotes =/

  • @Randomgal417 I know, I was kind of being sarcastic - ''TV of Tomorrow''.

  • i want that las vages one!

  • Kind of prophetic in a lot of ways.

  • hey there IS intelligent life on mars! rotfl.

  • If you think about it... we can actually use TV to do most of the stuff from that video, lol... Hook your xbox or playstation to your tv and you have access to internet (bid online), there is a variety of channels and they all show the same stuff, the one with fishing = Wii. Anyway, the cartoon is hilarious :)

  • 1:34 OH SHIT! Didn't see that coming!

  • Damn Cowboys all the time.. no wonder the hippies revolted.
