@anamarvelo They don't routinely carry guns but they have a fire arm branch which can be sent out (i'm not the greatest when it comes to police policy but thats the gist of it) and from what I hear our gun policy is alot stricter than in america so it's not as needed since not every person owns a gun.

I think you'll find that very few people have guns in the UK, you have to get a licence and that's not very easy. And you don't often hear of shootings. And now, you are no longer allowed to carry knives on the street. We have "armed police" here in the UK which are only seen at airports and places with high security, occasionally walking around big cities. Because guns are illegal it's harder to gun smuggle or just buy a gun and give to someone. Meaning less criminals have guns.

[Not that America's is great either] The gun laws in the US may seem very loose - but the left makes it difficult here in other ways, particularly through the culture. Well, our crime rate is dropping rapidly and is supposed to continue as our new Prime Minister is cutting the budget and pay for public sector workers, getting rid of a lot of policemen and he is making you go to jail only if it's a bit more serious. I understand how making guns illegal could destroy some cultures. But here we don't have them. And I am glad that policemen don't have guns as it seems a bit less threatening.

What is sad is that people cannot just be proud of where they come from with out all the back talk. It is all well and good to be proud. It's probably a result of the decline of Empire, and existence after it.

Consider: Alexander's Empire, the Roman Empire, the Mongol Empire, Ottoman's Empire etc all were effectively destroyed and dismantled once they fell. Not so with the British.

Perhaps this steady and tangible reduction in power has given the Brits the humbling realization that greatness does not last forever, and is subject to opinion, without requiring their own destruction in the process.
