OS might but since its windows that doesn't really matter which version... however a virus is just another executable that usually attaches it self to another application to hide... however the only way to actually get a virus on your computer is to download it... just watch what websites you go to and what you download, and make sure you have an up to date anti virus installed and you'll be safe from viruses for the most part.

@TASTY20INCH Yes it is possible there are a few methods to do so, however none of them are really viable on xbox live... unless you gave him your public IP address...Also routers are designed to take that sort of attack in place of your computer. DoS is a relatively popular option which involves flooding a connection with traffic preventing bandwidth from being used. another option is actually breaking your router which can be done if you have not properly configured your routers admin panel.
