this song was played on Miami Vice in 1987 (season 3) in the episode "Lend Me An Ear." It was in the opening sequence when Crockett & Tubbs were in the boat chasing another boat. Vice was awesome!
Love the words to this song. It got me through years. Who would have imagined that it epitomomises the tactics queers use? And then you come out the other end and let people decide if it relates to their life? Fuck you Queers. No offence Mike Scott. Nice observation. Their like Tasmanian Devils with Cancer.
What are you saying? Is it jus that your homophobic or am I missing your point???
Why do you think this song is about "queers"??
Dont get what your trying to say??
"Tasmanian devils with cancer!???"
WHAT THE FUCK does that mean?!!! Everyone finds their own interpretation to songs, I know, but Jeez, i've known this song since the day it came out and I have to say I've never heard a wackier or more hateful explanation of what its about? maybe im missing your point.
I dug up the original recording of this on one of those internet jukeboxes in a bar recently. I was with a friend of mine who was 2 years old when this song came out. She flipped. "Holy s***! What the f*** was THAT?" she asked me.
the waterobys are possible the best scottish bad ever to play, the proclamers are great but their not exactualy my genre they were also great, love you mike!
Wow! One of my all-time favorites. We will be going to see them this coming Sunday here in Portland (Or). I can't wait! Have loved them since 1985 but never seen them live. This is a nice preview:)

You know what amazes me? Google was a question on who wants to be a Millionaire, but I like these words, they describe a village environment.

I first heard this in the Miami Vice episode "Lend me an ear" and it took me years to track it down!
Glad I did though. This and "Fisherman's Blues" are my faves of theirs, but they're all great songs.
