You are technically correct; however, it's just not how the terms are utilized today (including by the President). Thank you again. .

  • Practice Fusion refers to EHR and EMR for their product which moves across institutions and includes eRx, labs, etc. Also, many EHR systems are also EMRs depending on the way in which they are utilized. IF the system is used in accordance with the MU criteria (which would have previously only been called EHR; however now used interchangeably), then it can qualify for the incentives;however, the ONC requires that an EHR system is tested and certified...

  • President Obama is referring to Electronic Medical Records - you may want to update - those were the previous definitions; however, they are now utilized interchangeably:

    Electronic Medical Records stay within an institution. Therefore are not eligible for meaningful use incentives.

    Electronic Health Records move across institutions. Those are the ones that will get the incentives.
