Thanks for the info...your info gave me a new insight on goldfish. Now I'm more serious about this whole goldfish thing. I gotta save my goldfish. (standing in an heroic pose)
Hey for a class experament I put 4 goldfish in a ten gallon tank no heater mo filter no food no nothing I put it by the window on wrote a nite on it everyday for 6 months they eat algee and all I did was give is clean water when iy got low
gold fish adapt very easy to cold water i have mine in a worm temp but they have lived in -10 weather they just bomb on bottom. there easy fish to keep tank wise gold fish can grow hudge. i have not cleaned my tank out for about 7 month prefer dirty tank raver than clean i have more problems when have clean water for my fish they than dirty
my parents had three goldfish 4 their nail sallon somehow live 4 14 yaers then it had a baby the parents died bt we still have the baby (the fish were in a pond now the baby is in a huge tank with some other goldfis) they have live 4 40 years so far im gonna break the record

Hi Nemo! i been to the Tulsa state fair a couple of days ago and won a pet goldfish but since i was a new fish owner i didn't know how to properly take care of it until i watched this video. but it was to late and my gold fish died yesterday three days after i got it. :'( but thanks to you i now know how to properly take care or goldfish i now own 2 goldfish and they are so far doing great and its all thanks to you!! so I would just like to say thanks !!! ^>^
Heres a tip: Never put a goldfish in a "Goldfish Bowl". They will nt get enough oxygen nor will there water be clean enough. Plus they wont have space. I have a thrity gallon, my fantails (4) and my commons, (13) They are all doing great although the tank is small. Ive had them for 5 years
-_- I didn't cycle my fish but they're going really well. I have 4 tiny, baby comets in my 10 gallon tank and they have been going strong, I'm going to get a 70 gallon tank soon :)

wow... I never knew.. I feel horrible! I've had this one goldfish that Is still alive... I've had him for 7years now. his name is tiger... he's been living in a 3 gallon tank D:
I have 3 fancy goldfish in a 12-15 gallon tank (depending on how much water you put in) but they were born 1 month ago how long should i wait till they grow to big for the tank so i can get a bigger tank? i also thinck this video was very helpful :) i have a air pump an a 20 gallon filter for them and have no intentention to hurt them :(
@Evryms Did you even watch the video? She already responded to that. so what it lives for 3 months, It'll die by the year mark. Goldfish live for an average of 20 years. It won't even reach its full maturity before it dies if you keep it in a 5 gallon.
hi I like your video and about the filter. I have a 55 gallon fish tank that I am going to get some gold fish for. so 5 fancy gold fish or two common gold fish. But the filter will have to be a 100 gallon filter because they have twice as much waste as a normal fish. Just wanted to point that out and tanks for letting people know about them and to keep them out of bowls. bowls are not suitable for any fish don't buy them.
MOST GOLD FISH GROW TO TWELVE INCHES! Get that through your thick skull people goldfish are huge aquatic pets they need space when you cram them in a one gallon tank their outsides stop growing sure so it looks like there not growing but their insides keep growing untill something ruptures inside them and they die from that.
do you have any fish to start with? if not why you telling people how to care for their fish, and also you was talking about the poop in the tank well here is a cheaper way to clean it without spending 100's of dollars get off your ass and do it the old fashion way my god oh and i have three gold fish they they are healthy fish and i dont have a 60 gallon tank
Time and dedication....dont forget about the money dumb asshole. Just because you're rich or spoiled and you're getting all this unnecessary shit doesnt mean you need to tell people straight up that they can't get a fish. I wish you were fucking poor and had only a filter and a 10 gallon
1.5 months is not necessary, it only takes 1-2 weeks to cycle a tank. Goldfish are considered beginner fish because they are extremely hardy- no heater, no special pH, no salinity- the only requirement they have is tank size, which is easy compared to most fish. If goldfish aren't beginner fish what is? Goldfish DO have stomachs, like their carp ancestors...don't know where that myth came from.
FIRST OF ALL!!!!!!!! fancy goldfish need at least 29 gallons for like two or three fancy goldfish. then a commen one needs at least 75 gallons and u could fit like two ar three too and its every half inch per gallon for goldfish and i saw fancy goldfish like 1 foot. i have a 55 with 3 oranda goldfish all about 3-4 inches then a ryukin and crown pearlscale about two inches each and a pleco like 1.5 inches. i have two filters with monthly water changes and i know they get big and i hope mine do.
OMG my daughter got a goldfish at the fair...and of course it died. Now I went out and got another one but the pet store is telling me it will cost me more than a hundred dollars to keep it alive!!!!!! HELP ME. I hope this video helps.
P.S. (1) Goldfish are the easiest fish in the world to take care of! (2) They get over 18" long! but in aquariums they rarely get over 6" long, they need a huge pond to grow full size, yes they poop a-lot, but if you keep the water cool, 60-70°F their metabolism slows, they don't eat much and don't poop as much. (3) It doesn't matter how much water you give them, more filtration, current & oxygen, means more fish! Of course theirs limits. Goldfish LIVE to be with other A-LOT goldfish!
Um, you don't need to let a tank stand for like a month because goldfish are hardy and you NEED to add them into the tank to cycle it properly with ammonia from their poop, when i was 10 years old i added goldfish to a tank right when i added the water, it had chlorine and everything, but 5 years later i still have them, but i take better care of them, you give a-lot of mis information, goldfish are real hardy their just SUPER big eaters and poppers.
Your videos are awsome the dumb people at my LPS (petco) said that all a goldfish needs is a bowl and food. They didnt know anything about good bacteria, cycling, and ect. I
im sorry but this is not completely true, not for beginners!?? what? that is insane! i could not think of a more basic pet! i mean really, it would better to say that owning a pet takes some effort. and are you saying that a GOLDSISH can be 40 years old?? uou do bring what seems to be intelligent points but most of them are bogus! oh yea and i had a tank (5 gallons) and put three fish in there and one of them lived for 8 years and i cleaned it out maybe 5 times and it was a great expierence.
@zunedog31 The age of the goldfish is true, many goldfish live over 20 years old if cared for properly. The common misconception about goldfish living for a short period of time is because they are commonly abused and not well taken care of. The oldest goldfish on record lived in the USA, was 43 years old when it died and was called Bruce (seriously! you can google it!)
Hahaha alot of talking. But i get yah. I recently bought a fantail goldfish, Shes in a bowl right now, i'm putting her in a 2 gallon tank when i get home, and then moving her up to a 5 gallon. But dude, tanks are expensive and not everyone can get one for their fish. Like me. Goldfish are known to be in bowls, yes, and at least i'm giving here a bigger space. She has live plants and everything she needs. (I researched between if its a boy or girl.) So yeah. Haha :) I'll make a video soon...
i got 84 cents of fish in a 80 gallon tank im gunna do what ever i want i think ill ad some plants form a pond near my house and see what happens. maybe some sand too i dont think ill ever change the water.
i mean i have had a comet goldfish called quicksilver who is living in a bowl for about 2/half years hes happy and there is nothing in the bowl either so you know there can be different cases
I have a wonderful tank for my goldfish. i have a great in tank filter, keeps the water crystal clear. They seem happy and content, that is until i throw them in the oscar tank!
I raised African cichlids, aulonocaras to be exact. For five years I altered pH slightly, added some salts, a water polisher two extra filters and finally lake Malawi minerals and i got them to breed. They are the most beautiful fresh water fish possible.
I so agree. It took me close to five years to get down how to properly care for goldfish. I know that in my vids there in a small tank but I will be upgrading very soon. My friends say that I should stop because its too easy but I disagree.
No offense intended but i had my 2 comet golds in a 2 gallon tank with no filter and only an air pump. They are now over four years old and in a 10 gal with 2 other comets.
i have two gold feeder goldfish in a 10 gallon tank one is 2in and yhey other is about 41/2 inches. im going to upgrade them to a 15 or 20 gallon soon.
i totally agree with everything you said. i absolutly love goldfish. all my friends just say there to easy to care for. i dont agree with them. how long have you had goldfish for pets???when i got my goldfish i put them in after 3 days of fishless cycling. i've had them for two months, there doing great, i just wish i knew it caused them pain. i just made a video of my goldfish tank setup when it was complete. you should check it out. talk to you later.
True, true. I get the same thing all the time. Thanks for getting the right facts. the 2 first gdf i got were throwen into a bucket bc we had no tank. My setup this old pond thing and just threw them in with 3 other goldfish, for a total of 5 goldfish in 20 gallons. with no cycling... Trust me you did a lot better, you got informed first. tanks can technically cycle in like a week depending on how you do it. Goldfish are very hardy as well, i'm just happy you gave it some time.
@TheNEMOsOMEN great video!i have 2 goldfishes, which i want to keep, others are food for my arowana(pls dont be offended, those are feeders but they are not common, they look like fancy)tkx for making this video!may i know if a submeriseble filter is enough for the two 3 inch goldfish?(i guess it is 3 inch)
I hope you meant the tank and not the goldfish itself.... anyway if your tank is small enough to be moved like that, it is not big enough. And algae will be a problem as well as temperature increase. just leave ur fishy where he is. I am sure he's happy :) thanks, hope this helps.
A fishless cycle tank longer. technically, when u put fish in after 2 days, it's not cycled.... the fish go through pain, as it cycles. That's why i prefer fishless cycling. :)
If u put the fish in after 48 hours it is not cycled, u are cycling the tank with fish. This put the fish under stress, and can result in loss of life. FISHLESS (humane) cycling can take up to a month (sometimes more) and is a lot better for the fish.
hey dude............. a 5 gallon tank is almost perfect for a gold fish. tropical fish are much harder to take care of. they are more prone to diseases.... and it is a gallon of water per inch of fish smart one.
so 5 gallons = a 5 inch fish... ok but a tight fit. what happens whent hat goldfish is a foot long though? not to mention most 20 gallons wouldn't have enough room for that goldfish to swim around safely. don't be stupid. get a big tank and do it right. Thanks for your comment.
yes! except, most people dont know this and through a goldfish into a tiny bowl without a filter and then feed him enough for a week... and leave their 5 year olds to clean the tank... it's just wrong. thank you for your comment.
@TheNEMOsOMEN hey, if I got a Red Lionhead Goldfish can it live in a 10 gallon tank w/ a 30 gallon sized filter forever? or would it need an upgrade? I love goldfish so much, I've wanted one forever. Petsmart says they'll only get up to 4" but I don't believe them...
Goldfish are very hardy, but doing a fishless cycle is more humane. Technically cycling could be done in 3 days by adding lots of bacteria and oxygen... thanks a lot. good luck :)
lol yes the day after i setup my first tropical tank i had 4 babys there a month old now but yes a do agree with you that goldies are no for begginers but its cheaper than tropical so people buy them
It bascially just depends how much you do to establish the tank. it could just take 3 days if you add a ton of bacteria and airate a lot... most people just do the adding tropical flakes or use fish. which does take longer...
This is the way to properly take care if goldfish. If you don't do this your goldfish will most likely not have a healthy life. If your goldfish did, for 10 years, i congradulate you! that's awesome! this video is for people who think a tiny bowl is big enough for goldfish, without a filter...
Sorry this upset you, but some people need a wake up call.
Thanks a lot! i'm on vacation now for 3 weeks, so unfortunately i wont be able to make and upload them till the last week of July... I already made part 2 but don't have the right computer to upload it. Sorry for the wait. I started this series right before i left and didn't realize i would be able to upload them in time. Once again, sorry! Thanks or your comment!

i totally agree with everything you said. i absolutly love goldfish. all my friends just say there to easy to care for. i dont agree with them. how long have you had goldfish for pets???when i got my goldfish i put them in after 3 days of fishless cycling. i've had them for two months, there doing great, i just wish i knew it caused them pain. i just made a video of my goldfish tank setup when it was complete. you should check it out. talk to you later.

Thanks a lot.

You said a 10 galleon tank is not good enough for a comet/common. Is that definite or just a guideline?
GennaiKnight 2 years ago
they grow with the size of the tank

do you think I should put my goldfish out in the sun for a while? just for a few min......do you think he will like that?
TheMystuffz 2 years ago
im new to the goldfish thing but i heard that you cant put them in the sun due to alagy will grow
ripstickcamp 2 years ago
thanks for helping. :)
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
I hope you meant the tank and not the goldfish itself.... anyway if your tank is small enough to be moved like that, it is not big enough. And algae will be a problem as well as temperature increase. just leave ur fishy where he is. I am sure he's happy :) thanks, hope this helps.

i have had my goldfish for more than 5 years
LuLu8078 2 years ago
That's great! keep up the great work!
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
you dont keep the tank for 1 month only like 2days or something
DubaiNoob 2 years ago
A fishless cycle tank longer. technically, when u put fish in after 2 days, it's not cycled.... the fish go through pain, as it cycles. That's why i prefer fishless cycling. :)
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
actually i love my goldfish and im keeping him in a bowl and u cant do nothing about it!!!!!!!!!!!
karamjima 2 years ago
oh and its 48hours you have to let the water sit and cylcle not a month and a half.........
richardsauceda75 2 years ago
If u put the fish in after 48 hours it is not cycled, u are cycling the tank with fish. This put the fish under stress, and can result in loss of life. FISHLESS (humane) cycling can take up to a month (sometimes more) and is a lot better for the fish.
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
hey dude............. a 5 gallon tank is almost perfect for a gold fish. tropical fish are much harder to take care of. they are more prone to diseases.... and it is a gallon of water per inch of fish smart one.
richardsauceda75 2 years ago
so 5 gallons = a 5 inch fish... ok but a tight fit. what happens whent hat goldfish is a foot long though? not to mention most 20 gallons wouldn't have enough room for that goldfish to swim around safely. don't be stupid. get a big tank and do it right. Thanks for your comment.
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
The oldest goldfish lived in a 10 gallon.
rluix 2 years ago
I am almost sure that changed now (older goldfish) and that's simply not very good for the goldfish's health....thanks for you comment.
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
Thanks for making this vid! :)
This is great information for people who thing goldfish ae low mainentce and all that!
Did you know when you put a goldfish in a small tank, it's organs continue growing even when the body stops?...very painful
PurpleOrangesRock 2 years ago
Ouch. thanks for our comment. I didn't know that. just another reason goldfish need bigger tanks.
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
and goldfish are a begginer fish all u realy have to do is clean the tank and feed them
the only thing u realy have to look up on is the amonia build up and that some fancy goldfish need specific food and not sharp decor
tinytot258 2 years ago
yes! except, most people dont know this and through a goldfish into a tiny bowl without a filter and then feed him enough for a week... and leave their 5 year olds to clean the tank... it's just wrong. thank you for your comment.
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
no offence but
1. video is very boring because half of in is just you talking and the camera fixed on one spot
2.too much ums and likes
tinytot258 2 years ago 2
none taken. and yes, very boring, but if it just stopped one person from buying and abusing a goldfish, it's definitely worth it!
Thanks, and i am working on the speech lol.

TTerror97 1 year ago
@TheNEMOsOMEN I liked your video and think you are incredibly well spoken . Keep up the good work .

Goldfish are very hardy, but doing a fishless cycle is more humane. Technically cycling could be done in 3 days by adding lots of bacteria and oxygen... thanks a lot. good luck :)
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
lol yes the day after i setup my first tropical tank i had 4 babys there a month old now but yes a do agree with you that goldies are no for begginers but its cheaper than tropical so people buy them
MrBettaBreeder 2 years ago
mollies grow to 4 inches are there not for beginners because they have babys every mounth
MrBettaBreeder 2 years ago
your right sorry. I was just making apoint of goldfish not being a beginner fish... every month = a lot of babies lol.
but the mollies would most likly eat the fry, just don't feed them... thanks for the info. sorry for my inaccuracy. :/
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
u sit it for a week and a half not a MONTH!!! how comes all my goldish are still living
xxvolcomkidxx13 2 years ago
It bascially just depends how much you do to establish the tank. it could just take 3 days if you add a ton of bacteria and airate a lot... most people just do the adding tropical flakes or use fish. which does take longer...
happy your fish are doing good. :) thanks a lot.
TheNEMOsOMEN 2 years ago
how do you add bacteria?
tinytot258 2 years ago
lol i was gunna flip my tits if i had to let it sit for a month and a half
tinytot258 2 years ago
ur a fucking retard mine lived for 10 years ur a dumbass fuck u
snippy777 2 years ago
This is the way to properly take care if goldfish. If you don't do this your goldfish will most likely not have a healthy life. If your goldfish did, for 10 years, i congradulate you! that's awesome! this video is for people who think a tiny bowl is big enough for goldfish, without a filter...
Sorry this upset you, but some people need a wake up call.
