  • A VERY helpful tutorial...able to capture ALL the lines and variations of value...you don't realize how hard that info you gave out was hard to find. Please keep this tutorial up for people. God love ya.

  • :( i only have Painter essentials 4

  • I'm new to painter 12, your work is amazing and thank you so much for wonderful tutorial! :)

  • Thank you for the tutorial! its alot of help I didnt know where to start! the reason I bought corel painter was because my sai and PS dont work very much anymore (memory overloads in them) and I took one look at corel paint images and I was quite impressed with the coloring and how realistic you can make it. But when I tried to use it I got really confused! thanks for making it clear for us. 1 question though which tablet do you use?

  • the clone source doesn't work in CP12 (it won't let me choose the file i wanna clone with . Any Idea what i'm doing wrong)

  • @nickyreno Well I'm betting there is a way to do it with Corel 12 but not the way I show i this video. This video was made with Corel 11 - and yeah Corel 12 handles cloning a little differently

  • @skwerlgrrl Thanks for the quick reply ~ Yup that what i though too ~ Too bad there is less tutorial @ youtube , by the way love how you paint it , keep it up the good work ~

  • @nickyreno click command+6 the clone source window will open, in the lower left you'll find an image of floppy disk and an arrow, click it then click on the name of your current image :)

  • @Jakeshtra Thanks for the reply , well i did mess around with the tools and i already know how to use the clone source . Still i'm appreciate to those people who share they great works and comment . Have fun painting ~ and good luck to everyone :)

  • great(!!) tips! thank you for sharing your technique---just tried it out and loooove it.

  • How did you get that little mini brush window on the left side of your screen?

  • Great tutorial ! but sadly this was on corel painter TT TT (anyway watching your videos it give me some ideas on how to work things out in photoshop) thank you so much for sharing :)

  • Does this work for corel painter essentials 4 ? :)

  • thanks

  • I have sort of a dumb question: I've only been using painter for a little while and I'm not having any problems with my brushes or with feeling overwhelmed. However, one problem I am having is that when I upload a file into painter it automatically makes it into the canvas layer. This makes it to where my lineart gets covered up whenever i work and I like the look of my linework. Any tips? I assume there is just something I don't know (mainly because I am used to working traditionally). Thanks

  • I downloaded the zip file but I can't load it in my brush preset panel . Help pls ?? I have Photoshop CS5. Thank you. Love your tutorial much much. it is very helpful for my homework <333

  • @valeriehn The brushes are for COREL PAINTER. Not Photoshop. That's why they aren't working for you. This tutorial is for COREL PAINTER - not Photoshop. Good luck.

  • @skwerlgrrl PHOTOSHOP IS BETTER! PHOTOSHOP FTW! just kidding. Have you used both programs? Is there a particular reason you like Painter better? I have been told that the file sizes are much bigger in painter and it eats up ram faster?

  • Holy cow, this technique is amazing! For years I've struggled with trying to use blenders and not really getting the effect I was after. Who knew it was so simple? :)

    Thank you!

  • @F0ng00l You are welcome!

  • Please don't use vulgar language in your replies. My channel is available to all user ages.

  • THANKYOU! I love using Painter, but I never had a felt like I really understood the tools. I just kinda picked one and played around with it.

  • Thank you thank you thank you so much. I'm probably one of those who used to disregard painter. But, you've given me a new approach to it and I hope to integrate painter more and more into my work.

    Thanks again!

  • How do you get the brown background and the artwork on a separate layer?

  • oh i'm sorry the clone stamp to blend..so sorry didnt hear it only after i replayed it..

  • ur soooo amazing! ur art is like the smile of thousand babys!!

    love it

but i got a question..how do u blend so easyly with oil pastels or any other tool..i only know it with the blender tools....sorry for asking

    again..its awesome!

  • great tip. great talent.

  • Neat...Never thought of using cloners as blenders...and I've been using painter for years. I normally use knives or scratchboard at low opacity and sample ... and then use grainy water and/or Just Add Water or similar techniques... Like this idea though and will definitely give it a try!

  • awww thanks! aaah, could you help me? i got such a problem with the lineart... =( aaarg, I neeed help!!! =(

  • How did you color it without destroing lines?

  • @nienawidzeloginu

I didn't! I purposely do destroy the lines as I want a painterly feel. If you don't want to destroy the lines just copy the line art to another layer - set it to multiply and leave it above the painting.

  • @JerridPayne - Try both methods and you'll find out.

  • Thank you for this, I've been looking for a way to blend exactly like I would in a traditional medium and you nailed it, cheers

  • @beatbua You are most welcome.

  • hayy. I just got corel painters, and when I open it, the color pallet and the brush pallette (or anything other then the canvas) won't show up. Anyone have any idea what to do to get the pallettes back.?

  • @ReddiFawks Window menu - Toggle Hide/Show Palettes

  • very nice, I've been reticent to play with painter and play it safe with photoshop, but this vid has some great info, thanks for posting!

  • @basil81 Glad to!

  • What a clever way to blend:) thanks for the tutorial.

  • @kobracmdr You're very welcome

  • for some reason i cant collapse layers like you do in this video o_O.

(no i am not on the "canvas" -layer ^^)- i created 2 new layers, drew on both of them, and selected the top one. but i simply cannot collapse them. the command is greyed out. could anyone help me with that prob, pls ? o_O

  • @Vecun Hold down shift. Then click each layer you wish to collapse. (All layers you wish to collapse must be selected.) Then collapse 'em.

  • @skwerlgrrl ah, thanks. in photoshop you could just klick on one layer and it would collapse with the layer beneath. but in corel you have to click the layer individually.

thanks. i didnt know that ^^

  • Stunning work and an excellent tutorial. Well done:-)

  • @loubiex Thank you!

  • I absolutely loved this! It was very, very helpful, especially since I'm very new to Corel. I always wondered what the clone tool was for, and now I know xD

I'm absolutely glad you posted this.

  • @Comchiki my pleasure!

  • uhhh....i just tried doing that the EXACT same way and it doesn't work...when i select the clone button on color wheel and start to "blend" my colors...all i get is gray smears!!! ????

  • @nika4843

Then you didn't do it the EXACT same way. Go over the steps again.

  • very nice. any other tips on the brushes??

  • @klenock8 Thanks! Yep, got a ton of tips. I'll get around to em some day.
