I can remember the Shamrock / Fujita fight during Pride 10 , and Shamrock was winning the fight until he gave the nod to throw the towel in from his corner because he felt short of breath . I think he could have won if he had better punching power because he hit Fujita with a lot of punches and couldn't get the choke to work .

Probably no one remember Oleg Taktarov. Very talented fighter who could stay calm despite being at a disadvantage position. Excellent submission and good stand up. Sadly he took a wrong turn, involved in car theft, got arrested and when he was back to the ring he was not half what he used to be. He could have been one of these legends.

@kevlarunderwear22 According to Black Belt Magazine he was on a financial hardship. I think that was after he lost a fight in Brazil and didn't have a fight for a while. When he came back in the UFC he got KOed and then in another tournament Renzo Gracie also KOed him and I think that's the last time he was seen on MMA. He fought an exhibition boxing match with Dolf Lungreen. I was impressed by his calm attitude when he enters the ring and even when he is pounded he works steadily, no panic.

@walmartian555 I read that article in the Black Belt Magazine. If you're really interested try to ask his fans or contact Black Belt Magazine for their archives. He was arrested in connection with a car theft incident. When he got out he hastily signed in to fight an obscure opponent in UFC who knock him out quickly. I'm not trying to malign him, I like his calmness and style in the ring.

@ambrosiobertodazo I think you're confusing your MMA fighters, Oleg was never involved in car theft or sent to prison. The time he took off from competing was spent improving his English and acting in theater productions. And he's doing pretty well now with acting.

Anyway, I agree he is really underrated. He deserves to be in the UFC Hall of Fame at least as much as Mark Coleman or Royce Gracie.

Thr are loads - more noticeable than any of the afore mentioned is Royce Gracie. Without what he did in UFC 1,2,3,4,5 BJJ or Gracie JJ would never have become mainstream and MMA would not be what it is. The traditional arts would just be practised in the way they have for decades Karate, Judo Tai Kwon do Judo etc very few people would have cross trained and it would not be the game it is today. PS I wouldnt mention Brett Rodgers as a legend hes had what 3 x fights and 2 x losses im aware of.

K. Sakuraba's Legacy is "The Gracie Hunter". To say Rampage Jackson is a legend is a joke. Also, Liddell may have been a a great striker, but Vitor Belfort is possibly the BEST striker, hands down. He obliterated W. Silva in 30 seconds. Fedor Emelianenko was always ridiculed for never taking on any serious contenders... And even though he lost ALOT, Tank Abbott is a LEGEND to MMA. Nice video, but it is lacking a bit. But who am I to critique? :]

@AFKCPU it's my personal opinion and nope i'm not sick. plenty of folks feel the same way including Fedor and GSP. He's beaten many legends in the sport most of them outweighing him by a 30-50lbs. If he actually fought at his own weight he'd most likely have remained undefeated.

most importantly he fought to finish and was willing to take risks to do so. He didn't lay and pray and let his fights get boring for the fans. He knew MMA is a SPECTATOR sport.
