I can remember the Shamrock / Fujita fight during Pride 10 , and Shamrock was winning the fight until he gave the nod to throw the towel in from his corner because he felt short of breath . I think he could have won if he had better punching power because he hit Fujita with a lot of punches and couldn't get the choke to work .
Probably no one remember Oleg Taktarov. Very talented fighter who could stay calm despite being at a disadvantage position. Excellent submission and good stand up. Sadly he took a wrong turn, involved in car theft, got arrested and when he was back to the ring he was not half what he used to be. He could have been one of these legends.
@ambrosiobertodazo i remember oleg well, he was one of the originals. why did he get involved with car theft? is he on drugs? god, he was doing some film work too
@kevlarunderwear22 According to Black Belt Magazine he was on a financial hardship. I think that was after he lost a fight in Brazil and didn't have a fight for a while. When he came back in the UFC he got KOed and then in another tournament Renzo Gracie also KOed him and I think that's the last time he was seen on MMA. He fought an exhibition boxing match with Dolf Lungreen. I was impressed by his calm attitude when he enters the ring and even when he is pounded he works steadily, no panic.
@ambrosiobertodazo you right. Oleg a one of the best fighter. great skills in grappling. i remember the wars against Marco Ruas,Shamrock and many others.
@walmartian555 I read that article in the Black Belt Magazine. If you're really interested try to ask his fans or contact Black Belt Magazine for their archives. He was arrested in connection with a car theft incident. When he got out he hastily signed in to fight an obscure opponent in UFC who knock him out quickly. I'm not trying to malign him, I like his calmness and style in the ring.
@ambrosiobertodazo I think you're confusing your MMA fighters, Oleg was never involved in car theft or sent to prison. The time he took off from competing was spent improving his English and acting in theater productions. And he's doing pretty well now with acting.
Anyway, I agree he is really underrated. He deserves to be in the UFC Hall of Fame at least as much as Mark Coleman or Royce Gracie.
Hi @kevlarunderwear22! I am conducting a research about MMA, specifically about the difference between MMA from 1993 (before the sanction) and MMA today (after the sanction)... I loved your videos and I assume you're an avid fan... Do you have videos of MMA fights from before the sanction? I'd love to see a video that shows WHY mma was sanctioned. Thanks in advance! :D
@kevlarunderwear22 what the hell are you talking about he's still fighting today and he was a fucking beast. Thus his nickname. Dan "the beast" Severn.
That slam by Jackson on Arona is mentioned everywhere - best slam ever ra ra ra eeh eeh eeh eeh what a slam. Not 1 single person has ever mentioned that it is the headbutt on the follow through (illegal headbutts I mights add) that KO's Arona.
Best All Around Fighter in History, The Baddest Man on the Planet, The Last Emperor, The Russian Experiment: Fedor Vladimirovich Emelianenko > Mirko Cro Cop, Naguiera, Mark Coleman, Bret Rogers, Andrei Arlovski, Heath Hearring, Semmy Schilt, Tim Sylvia, Gary Goodridge, Kevin Randleman, Matt Lindland...
Thr are loads - more noticeable than any of the afore mentioned is Royce Gracie. Without what he did in UFC 1,2,3,4,5 BJJ or Gracie JJ would never have become mainstream and MMA would not be what it is. The traditional arts would just be practised in the way they have for decades Karate, Judo Tai Kwon do Judo etc very few people would have cross trained and it would not be the game it is today. PS I wouldnt mention Brett Rodgers as a legend hes had what 3 x fights and 2 x losses im aware of.
@kevlarunderwear22 i saw it during an interview on hdnet a while back when i still had that channel. he was asked who the best fighter he ever saw was and answered simply sakuraba.
Couple I think should be here: Dan Severn, Matt Hughes. Both for grappling. And really, I think Rich Franklin should be noticed not only because of his abilities, but he has really shown the sportsmanship and class in MMA better than anyone.
@Warcorpse666 i'm not a big Fedor fan, but since Pride folded he has fought a few former UFC heavyweight champs in Silvia and Arlovski, a great vet in Linland, Bret Rogers who's a potential contender and He was slated to fight the consensus no. 2 heavyweight at the time in Josh Barnett, in that case it's not Fedor's fault Josh roided up.
K. Sakuraba's Legacy is "The Gracie Hunter". To say Rampage Jackson is a legend is a joke. Also, Liddell may have been a a great striker, but Vitor Belfort is possibly the BEST striker, hands down. He obliterated W. Silva in 30 seconds. Fedor Emelianenko was always ridiculed for never taking on any serious contenders... And even though he lost ALOT, Tank Abbott is a LEGEND to MMA. Nice video, but it is lacking a bit. But who am I to critique? :]
@hurleyltd Vitor had the fastest hands, but not the best hand striker if anyone there it'd be Igor Vovchanchyan.
I'm not a big fan of Fedor's personally i think Saku is the greatest ever, but anyone who'd say he hasn't taken on serious contendors would be an idiot. The guy's fought and beat several top heavyweights and legends in the sport and several former champs (Nog x2,Coleman x2, Cro Cop, Bobalu Sobral, Randleman,Herring, Hunt, Arlovski, Sylvia, linland, Schilt)
@AFKCPU it's my personal opinion and nope i'm not sick. plenty of folks feel the same way including Fedor and GSP. He's beaten many legends in the sport most of them outweighing him by a 30-50lbs. If he actually fought at his own weight he'd most likely have remained undefeated.
most importantly he fought to finish and was willing to take risks to do so. He didn't lay and pray and let his fights get boring for the fans. He knew MMA is a SPECTATOR sport.
@hurleyltd even in Quinton's case they guys faced a who's who of MMA greats beating most of them. (Silva,Lidell x 2,Ninja,Arona,Minowa,Bustamante, Randelman,Vovchancyan,Satake) and no shame in the mend he lost to (2 x Wandy, Sakuraba, Evans,Shogun,Eastman,Matsui,Griffin). That's a list of studs and in a few cases legends
@hurleyltd good opinion, but u have to admit, chuck outstruck belfort in their fight, but ur right about tank he was the one who brought gloves to the sport, in other words, he turned mma from child to young adult. and rampage in like 3 - 5 years will officially be considered a legend.
guess what im taylor and i have ment royce gracie worlds greatest mma fighter e ment at the clevland mma acadamy at bradly square mall hes awesome yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace out
@Niko75full my point was, Hughe's isn't the greatest welterweight ever. maybe the greatest UFC welterweight, but Saku was the same weight was considered the best fighter in the world, beating lightheavy and heavyweights.

Time limit draw with Igor Vovchanchyan (top heavyweight in the world at the time after fighting Royce for 90 mins the same night) Really want to compare victories? Saku walks around at 185, same as hughes
@Tyler83Mr yeah that must be why takayama face is all fucked up thew end... cos don's got no power at all. its called heart and a chin fool, and that fight was legendary, so know what youre talking about before you stat talking bollacks
