  • lol if you don't think I can run a 4:24 1500 by the end of this year look me up on athletic.net Oregon

  • @fredfredburgergrim no you didn't. The world record is 3:43.12 set by Hicham El Guerrouj back in 1999

  • Lomong didn't even deserve to place. What a fuckface. 2:35, really?

  • @DNTRUSTME42, no i dont think so i would call him out on it

inevitably there's jostling in a premiere distance race but that went a little far and the officials probably missed it seeing as he did not get a DQ

  • Could someone tell me if what that guy did at 2:36 was legal?

  • I ran a 3:00 mile and im 5. I also made it to the moon without a spaceship in 2 minutes, while blindfolded solving a rubics cube

    -_-

  • at 2:35 , thats legal?

  • it kills me that everyone thinks they are either the shit at track, or an expert. reality is you're neither. a simple "wow, that's impressive" is all that needs to be said.

  • You know, there's something weird about this, but before I say anything, I want to say that this is truly amazing and I love these guys, good job to them all. But it for some reason to me doesn't look like the Olympics. It doesn't seem as cheery, and as many people as there usually is. Sorry if I made anyone mad, but that's my thoughts.

  • @TheInvincible1997 This is the final round of qualification for the American team to the 2008 Olympics, held at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR.

  • i am a freshman and i ran a 3:43 mile

  • @fredfredburgergrim yeah shut the fuck up

  • @fredfredburgergrim yeah for the 800 maybe

  • i. hate. bernard. lagat.

  • i. hate. bernard. legat.

  • What amazes me is that usually athletes do the sign of the cross before, and if they win it's the last thing they think about. But here he did it after. That shows true faith.

  • @monicasocal you're obviously not a runner

  • @888kermit i dont understand how my previous comment could have you lead to that conclusion, but ok. haha. i run for fun anyway

  • to qualify in arizona its 4:29 just to make it to state

  • Silliness I'm just starting track and ran a 4:52 in 7th grade silly that you guys think 4:48 is fast when your 15 by the time I will be 15 I will be running a 4:24 1500

  • @TheKyle46778 lol shut the fuck up

  • @TheKyle46778 No you didn't, and no you won't. That is impossible, seriously.

  • @TheKyle46778 unless you have a video, you're just another man full of shit.

  • Insanity. How do they run that fast? I know guys in high school who dream about running a 2 minute 800 let alone a 3:40 1500...

  • El Guerrouj would of smoked theses guys!

  • Wish I could look that smooth opening a 1500 in two flat.... t looks like Lamont doesn't even open his mouth for the first half of the race! lol

  • hey go on milesplit.us and look them up ;) like im patrick leary look me up on milesplit i run a 5:05 mile and definetly going sub 5 this year yea!

  • The blue guy who starts mid-line, at about 0:08 looks to see where Webb is, then makes a bee-line to just in front of him and lands there at 0:11. He then slows right down. Team tactics worked. Webb can get 3:30, so get in front, box him in, slow him down. El Gherrouj used to go wide early, keeping an eye on things. If he'd the mind to go when the other blue guy pushed him. Webb should've collected himself in the home straight and dodged around the stopper-guy and broken out. He let em own him.

  • @Jimmy911ism oh shit, I did see that. Good call. What an asshole.

  • stop argueing im faster than both of you

  • lol this is my uncle :P

  • 2:35-2:40 Is that legal?

  • @TheAssasins97 i would think so...haha

  • @TheAssasins97 i mean i wouldn't think so

  • @TheAssasins97 I saw the shoving too. I'm pretty sure it is legal, just a dick move and certainly a bad image since he did not even win haha

  • wow bernard lagats stride is so beautiful no homo

  • yea my friend runs a 4 29 1500m .2nd in the nation

  • @SevEnElEmEn what grade is he in?

  • @SevEnElEmEn 4:29 is not second in the nation, a 4:29 for a 1500m is equivalent to about a 4:48 to 4:49 mile which, last time i checked, isnt even close to national level. unless ur talking about maybe middle school u really need to redefine ur meaning of 2nd best in the nation.

  • Lmao, a 4:48 gets you ranked in the top 5 runners of NC? That's not saying very much for your state.

  • so top what go to olimpics?

  • aye i am ranked top 5 in the state of NC, i run a 4:48 mile, so if you think a 5:45 is fast you must be fuckin stupid! by the way i am only 15 too!

  • First, no one gives a shit. Second, NC sucks massive balls then.

  • @repete217 if u think a 4:48 mile is fast ur fuckin stupid. ur probably confused with the definition fo "top 5" u might be in the top five for your league or division or possible even your team. in order to qualify div 1 for states in HS you need to be around 4:40 and thats just states, for nationals u need to be under 4:25 bare minumum and thats just to run it, if u want to win your gonna have to beat kids running around 4:10 and less

  • @ap1234512 what state r u in in ill u gota b 422.3 4 state and 2 win is like breaking 4

  • @abrocrazy3 im just giving a general view of all states, i know that each state has a different quailifying standard, on avergae the standard for div 1 is 4:40. (which if you look at it, kinda sucks) and to win in nationals ur gonna be racing kids running bare minimum of 4:10, the winner this year was like 4:03 i think, at least for nike indoor nationals

  • why did webb do so badly?

  • Because he SUCKS and is OVERRATED!

  • Can you do 1500 in 3:41? >.>

  • @bldude2

No, but I'M not the one WITH ALL THE HYPE!

  • if ur 15 and and doing 1500 in 5:45 ur fucken slow

  • hi ppl!!!!

i do track and field and i think that i can make the 1500 in under 5:45 btw i am only 15 at the moment

  • lol no disrespect its an ohkay time but it isn't that great .

  • ROFL thanks for lettin us know...

  • By the way no one cares.

  • Oh, POOR Alan Webb didn't make the Olympic team. Just shows that he's a lot of HYPE and can't DELIVER when it really counts. He may have the American Record in the mile, but he's NEVER going to EXECUTE in a MAJOR COMPETITION. Just shows that extraordinary talent in HIGH SCHOOL doesn't mean ANYTHING!

I GUARANTEE all of you that Webb will NEVER win an OLYMPIC MEDAL in ANYTHING!

  • probably wont but neither have you so shut your pothole fatass

  • Yeah, I PROBABLY won't, but at least I wasn't HYPED UP by everyone because I ran a 3:53 in HIGH SCHOOL then had nothing INTERNATIONAL to show for it afterwards. At least Jim Ryun had a few WORLD RECORDS and a SILVER medal!

So YOU shut up, FATASS! Bwahahahahaha!

  • how are you angry with webb for being hyped up? thats not his fault...yell at the media if you want

  • @AAGuitar123

You have A point there, but Webb is STILL OVERHYPED.

  • i agree he was really fast in high school, but the moment anyone shows promise the media just goes crazy

  • @AAGuitar123

True enough, HOPING that he'll be the NEXT JIM RYUN. Trouble is, that's SELDOM the case. If anything, that puts TOO MUCH PRESSURE on the young runner and he ends up BURNING OUT and NOT REACHING HIS POTENTIAL. Just look at MIKE GRANVILLE!

  • ok webb

  • hahaha "said" totally just pushed lagat out the way... to funny!

  • i give props for gabe jennings he was in second to last and pushed the pace and whats the deal with webb... he needs a good race... oh well...

  • dannnng.. they ran the 400m faster than i ever have. i ran my 400m in a "as fast as i can go dont care if i die full sprint" at 1:03. i think its their strides that make it look so easy... i prolly need to work on those.

  • If you say you ran faster than 4:30 in junior high your full of shit. As far as I know the fastest is 4:32, and most people havn't gotten close to that. (Jim Ryun, 4:34)

  • thats when you know ur fuck'n beast !!!

    MANZANO

  • Alan Webb turned to trash after highschool.

  • My mile time is about 6:30. I suck. I know

Best time my school has gotten is around 4:20.

    Highschool.

  • the mile is VERY mental bro, its my worse race dont worry about it. youre race will prove one day to be its best. I started in track and now i run cross coutnry instead but track season run the 800 and 400. its just what fits, youll find your grove. as long as you enjoy running dont worry about your time.

  • that is 1500m because i am doing it at school and i ran a practice yesterday.

  • why is it 1500 and not 1600?

  • It's 1500m because it is 100m less than four laps.

  • haha i know

    its dumb

  • i heard alan webb say that 1500 is the 'metric mile' , not sure though

  • MANZANO!

  • Webb ran like a 1600...

  • manzano ran a great race once he gets more on the world stage he'll be legit

  • You gotta get some pushing skills too tho' look at that dude pushing Lagat 2:36...

  • i met alan webb :)

  • its funny when people try to impress other people who they will never meet/can't even see. how pathetic.

webb had 4th place in the last 100m but gave it up! if someone had gotten injured or something he could have ran for them. man, some people just dont do well at all in slow-paced races... you'd think it would be easier though. it's weird how that works.

  • Said Achmed, u will get ur ticket in 2012.

u kick ass and stay health.

  • I dont undestand why people post their times as if someone asked them. Theres no way for anyone on youtube to tell if you ran a 4:20 as a freshman so please dont post it. WE DONT GIVE A FUCK!!

  • check milestat man.

    these are insane times.

its funny how the girl 1500 meter runners are fat and the mens are like manarexic.

  • @xxFalconFonzxx I totally agree with you

  • never ran a 1500 but ran a 4:30 mile as a junior then got an injured but i felt like i was going fast, just imagine how that would feel to run as fast as these guys

  • stop showing off no one cares runnings not about the times, i don't get why everyone is obssesed with showing off how fast they go. I could be runnin a 4:00 flat and I wouldn't feel the need to tell the world

  • I think most people who say "I ran the mile in 4:00in 8th grade" is total BS. They are lying and showing off lol. If they really did, they would probably would have been on the news and the average mile time would be 4:00. LOl. I was reading comments and about 5 people in every video is like "I ran 4:00 minutes in 8th grade." Some of it may be true though, but most arent : ).

  • Totally agree with that

  • none of it true. 4 mins in the mile? thats bullshit because they would be rank higher than the top high school miler.

  • ummm... not even most... anyone who says that is a liar.

  • lol they probably ran a 4:00 800 -_-

  • thats dumb 4:00 in the 800?

    u mean mile.

  • youre both idiots. they can run a 4:00 mile in their fucking sleep, and they can run a sub 2 800 in their sleep aswell. idiots.

  • are you stupid? did you read the conversation? I was fucking talking about the eight graders... wow you are retarded

  • Nobody in fucking junior high can run a 4 flat in tthe mile. and yes AAguitar is totally right. runnings about fucking enjoying it, it doesnt matter what the hell you run. if you run a 10 minute mile who cares. and a 4 minute mile is not the highest ranked in the nation for highschool either.

  • @AAGuitar123 i would pussy

  • Even with training, someone who is 21 and running 5:35 is not going to the olympics.

  • LMAO!!!! hey bud, im 15 and i can run faster than that. also the winners time was 3:40!!!!!!! yea thats a really fucking fast pace, and you would have to train for YEARS like they do to get that good.

  • And not only do you have to train for years, but you have to have natural talent like all of the guys in this race do

  • i ran 437 as a freshmen 14...

  • OK THIS IS ALL BULLSHIT

THAT 14 YEAR OLD DOES NOT RUN 437

    A 1500 is a MILE dumbshits

UR NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THAT

  • I think you meant to type isn't lol

  • the youth record is like 4:40

and it was done by an 11 year old

  • I checked and these are the exact 1500 meter records for each age group

    9-10 years old 4:43.70

    11-12 years old 4:30.87

    13-14 years old 4:05.25

    15-16 years old 3:54.02

    17-18 years old 3:54.71

  • I believe that a 14 year old can run a 4:37 but not a 12 year old. Thats stupid i'd like a video of you doing that!

  • im 14 and i can run it at 4:37

  • well its not impossible but i only no one person that did 4:32 as a freshman and i bet they are way better than u

  • i know a 4:20 freshman.

    burn...

  • yea i was actually wrong he got a 4:26 as a freshman and as a sophomore got a 4:18 and got 6th in state for cross country

  • cool.

    i just got a 12:40 2 mile as a freshman girl...

even though that time sucks compared to oylimpic standards.

  • thats good here in mississippi!

  • 4:01 8th grader.

    thats a burn

  • hahaha.

    go join the olympics.

  • Yeah your full of shit. 4:01 8th grader my ass.

  • Your full of shit, show me the link. Your a rude little bitch, an 8th grader MAY have done it, but IT was definitely WASN'T YOU YOU SACK of SHIT. Learn to SPELL you little ASSHOLE.

  • @thefallen2124 Thank you for posting that.

  • @thefallen2124 you're*

  • mna, alan webb looked out of it the whole time

  • Go Lopez Lomong! God bless you my friend!!!

  • Buffalo High School JUNIOR Zach Mellon, finishing as the runner-up at the USA Junior Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, established a new all-time best mark for Minnesota high school boys at 800 meters with his 1:48.64 clocking.A JUNIOR!

  • you guys love to lie about fast times ,12 years old and can run 430 ....come on .stop lieing

  • Yeah seriously you would've won state in Idaho

  • lol seriously you'd be on the news. like the 11 year old who runs the 4:40 or around there

  • 12 years old, 4:30? Impossible! Next time when you wanna say your own timing, trying running it before you say anything... Otherwise, it is stupid...

  • Lopez Lomong: "When we were in Africa, we didn't know what was there for us as kids--we just ran. God was planning all of this stuff for me, and I didn't know. Now I'm using running to get the word out about how horrible things were back in Sudan during the war. Sometimes these things are not on CNN, so if I put out the word, I hope people can get the information. Right now, similar terrible things are going on in Darfur; people are running out of Darfur, and I put myself in their shoes."

  • Lopez Lomong is a great story!

  • The move that Manzano made from the back to the front of the pack at around 35 seconds into the video - that is WHAT WEBB needed to do!!! Webb got completely bitched by the entire field.

  • im 14 too and i run the mile in 4:54 and going into ninth grade is that good. and my biggest goal is to go to the 2012 olympics is there hope?

  • its not impossible. Dont ever let anyone tell you you cant do anything.

9th grade i was terrible, ran a 5:27 mile, this past year (junior year in high school) ran a 4:27 on a strained quad.

  • who the hell cares about how old and how fast you can run

  • for 1500m maybe

  • go get 'em. "impossible is nothing" right? good luck, i want to see you on podium in London in four years ok? isn't it weird to think that it'll take you four years to take 70 seconds off of your PR?

  • codie baughman is my name youll see me there on the podeium

  • He had to make the A standard and the rest of the fied was content to cruise behind. Alan Webb was the big flop of this puppy.

  • Runner's World did a big write up on Gabe Jennings and how hard he was training for the 1500 meter. It didnt' say anything about his strategy of burning the first half mile then completely dying on the last lap. Man.

  • Dammitt Gabe! Pretty depressing way to finish after all of that intense training. Eversince high school, I have had a bad habit of being a rabbit and going out too hard and trying to outkick the competition at the end (Like PRE and FAM); pure guts. But you don't go out that hard with a kick like Lagat's breathing down your neck 3/4 of the race. Hell of a steal from Kenya with Bernard. I'm loving our chances in the distance races in Beijing. U.S.A!!! U.S.A!!! U.S.A!!!

  • go luck leonel manzano

  • Webb must have run 1530 meters. Hard to win a race when you run the last turn in the middle of lane two.

  • exactly

  • Leonel Manzano was born in MEXICO.

    Congratulations Leo!!!

  • i don't understand why manzano didn't just run for mexico. it's far less competitive and he had 100% chance of making it. if Webb had a good day and Lukezic or Lomong beat him, he could have been out

  • bernard lagat really diserved to win that

  • LOL...jennings went out like a touch man and got smoked the last lap...wow that was a poor stratagy

  • LEO Manzano makes all of us here in TEXAS proud. Great runner who will medal at the olympics. If lagat doesn't run well Leo will beat him......stay tuned!

  • good call lol

  • I'm 14 and i'm running 1500 meter 4 my schools team...I can make it in 4 minutes 50 seconds...Is it good or bad? Yesterday i won gold in ma schools sports day... And my biggest dream is to run in 2012 olympics...I hope i will make it come true... ;)

  • no thats horrible go suck a cock

  • very good thats about 5 minute mile...make sure you go to a high school with a cross country and track team

  • it's a 5:08 mile, and that's assuming the kid is not lying.

  • I'm really happy for Leo. He really deserved it.

  • agreed! He's a performer!

  • first of all tylandal, said is not a douche, he ran a great race he had to make legat and everyone else think, it was a great move by him, and if you went to camp foss and hung out with Said Ahmed u would ind him to be the man.

  • I Cant Belive Alan Webb Didn't Make it

  • i saw alan today at the track and he was PISSED

you could just see it on his face

  • Bernard Lagat - Kenya

    Leonel Manzano - México

    3th - Sudan

    ... Y USA?

  • They all live in the USA.

  • I'd certainly like to hear what Webb thought of the race. Unfortunately, I can't find anything from Webb on the Web.

  • Will Leer is a family friend.

After the race Alan Webb came up to his fans who were wearing bright orange shirts and said: can i have one of those? because he beat him. it was super cool

  • not really surprised about alan webb

  • i really though it was gonna be Lagat, Webb, and Manzano but since webb is kind of an up and down runner he didnt have a good race.

  • webb is a headcase.

  • When Ahmed pulled that move at 2:37, I knew he wasn't going to make it.

  • its simply disgusting, he could have ruined the chances of the other runners. someone could have gotten hurt as well.

  • i cant brlieve webb didnt make it... he really screwed it up for himself

  • Webb didn't make it, not because he is not capable, but because he ran stupid. Webb was done after the first lap. You cannot let that race go out in 61 and then 2.00+ and expect to out-kick any of the guys that beat him...

    Lagat is on another level.

  • Webb never got a comfortable spot in that race. He spent so much energy running from near last place or running in lane 3. Poor tactical race on his part. Needed to be more aggressive.

Manzano will not even make the semis. Overrated.

  • Manzano has a lot of potential. If he runs smart (i.e. unlike Webb) i believe he can make the finals. But thats just my opinion

  • Alan Webb is a total douche bag. That's why he didn't make it to Beijing!

  • what happened to jennings? he was ahead then he got last by like 5 seconds
