Thank you for sharing this video. I appreciate it a lot as a part Japanese/American who had relatives put in internment camps during WW2. I also had relatives who fought in the 100/442nd and also the military intelligence service in the Pacific. Thank you again. My great uncle even got a purple heart while fighting in Italy. Ironically he never fired a shot from his weapon.

God, I still can't believe that America nuked 2 of Japan's cities, which were populated by innocent people. Yeah, it wasn't right for Japan to attack Pearl Harbor, but still, that gives us no right to take it out on civilians. And not only that, but then America put a bunch of their own people in concentration camps just because they were of Japanese decent!

Thats what they called it when they put them in a prison kind of thing. Like auschiwitz for the Japanese, but they werent killed. Just kept there until the wars were over.

The dictionary says it means confinement.

yeah, im half japanese (my mom's japanese). At my school we had a huge immigration project so I did mine on the japanese and a large portion of my presentation was about the internment. My school also read a book about the internment called When the Emperor was Devine, so i feel like i was lucky enough to learn more about it than some poeple get the chance to.

actually one time in an english class, we had to pick a song we liked, so I picked Kenji. I played the song for my classmates and told them about Mike's family and other families who were prisoners in Manzanar. They didn't know about all that, and some of them were a little surprised. I just wanted to make them understand that the japanese americans also suffered during WW2... I also get pissed when someone calls them "japs". Grr..!

You know, I remember him mentioning internment in an interview a couple of years ago, way before FM, and thinking that it had been glossed over in my history class. So, I did some research and learned about it. Even before Kenji, so he really has been educating people through his work, and even just with the things he says.  And, that's a really relevant lesson about racial profiling, so it's crucial that we understand what happened then.
