A work of sheer magical art by the under-recognized yet brilliant film director Ritwick Ghatak. Kudoes to him for selecting the legendary George Biswas for producing this immensely poignant song by the eternal & mystical Rabindranath ---the enigmatic yet blissful sorcerer of words, rhythm & melody & emotions--the ultimate artist Gurdev--hats off to you !!
Man this was such a beautiful movie. I miss it so much. I miss the beautiful sentiment and the aesthetic emotional bengali culture which was behind these movies and songs. We have lost it all.
Wish somebody could recreate and bring it all back.
This is not simply about nature or its beauty, but self-realised soul expressing his identification with the greater miracle of this creation. Akash bhora, soorjo tara, tari majh khane, aami pechhi mor sthaan, bisshoi tai jage, jage amar gaan. (In this sea of stars and sun, I too have found a place. This songs springs forth in wonderment... )
The ebb and flow of infinity that moves the entire world is now tugging away at my veins and I am a part of infinity as well.
Stanza 3: I have stepped on the grass as I walk through the forest and I am startled by the fragrance of the flowers. Everywhere around me I see the gifts of happiness.
Stanza 4: I have listened and seen and become one with this earth. I have sought the unknown among the known world. That sense of wonder and awe have given rise to this song.
I am trying to capture something of the essence here for those unititiated into Bengali so that they can appreciate the philosophy along with the brilliant music and picturization.
Stanza 1:
The skies are alive with the stars and the sun, and the world itself is teeming with vibrant life. Somehow I have found my place among all this magical existence. I am filled with wonder at this fact and that sense of awe gives rise to this song.

One of the transcendental video texts of the world media, from one of Ritwik Ghatak's greatest films. Ghatak's rediscovery is one of the most urgent tasks facing media criticism today.
woww .. absolutely enchanting voice..and superb song... i heard a stunning instrumental version of this song by the genius Salil Chaudhary.. since then i am a fan of this song...absollutely loved the original also.. i am an indian but cannot fully understand bengali ..only a little bit.. Can anyone plz give me a short translation of this song.. i guess it has a deeper philosophical meaning.. thanx a ton for the upload taniadey... made by day..
Jowar-Vatai Vubon dole/ NarHi te more Rokto dharai/ Legechhe taar taan/ Biswoyee tai-ee jage".
Now, my entire being, my blood vessels are feeling the tide and ebb of the eternity which changes the world every moment. and I feel that I am a part of it. I am a miniature of the entire world. When i feel in I blow away.
These first three lines express the amazement of the poet for this beautiful world. The vastness of the Nature, its flora and the fauna, the floral opulence and the landscape make him astonish.
Sheer philosophy. One can't help but feel moved and humbled. We are great because we are part of that great 'aseem' infinity. How can we be petty after hearing such melody? hats off to Debabrata Biswas, Ritwik Ghatak and the one and only Rabindranath Tagore. Anil Chatterjee is good as well.
i think ppl of today should learn what movie making is all abt by seeing movies like this....fantastic acting bt anil chatterjee..and awsome voice of georgeda.hats off to ghatak.
Problem is any Bengali who had weakness of their original root has been termed "Bangladeshi" by the people of their country- just to bask in fake glory! If they truely liked to keep them, then Bangladesh would not have converted to Islamic state from a Secular one!
Wonderful....gotho bochor e deshe ..channel Four e Ritwik Ghatak er chobi dekhano hoyechilo.Bangladesher 50 yrs of cinema celebration upolokke...n dat waz when i got to know him..absolutely adored all his movies..
What a free acting, never one feels that some one is singing.... equally free and gracefully flamboyant is camera movement.... GREAT!!! Debabrata Biswas is also at his zenith!
I find my soul here......

Incomparable rendition by George Debabrata Biswas has brought out the beauty of this cosmic world as Tagore portrayed in this composition.
Only Tagore could have written such a song and only Goerge da could deliver it so well.
I am thrilled
