  • Haha I know a guy who pays people if they give him games so I'm gonna make a bunch of games and not have to pay anything!

  • Wow a bunch of faggot ass jealous retards posting here. Gaming salad is great for making 2d games and making money with it.

Use torque or unity for 3d games.

    Windows? Haha that's cute.

  • $99 /year?!? no way Jose! proprietary (MacOS only) monopolistic just like Windows..

  • do i use gamesalad... NO because tis on stupid mac only!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So you cant upload the game salad games to the itunes app store? Iam a little confused...

  • @johnydee187 Yes you can upload it to app store.

  • @MarLucatero thats fine, you're just missing out on the "real" computers. Enjoy your useless Windows PC and the system numbing viruses it brings. Mac > PC. We. Are. Superior.

  • wtf ....i want this on windows!!

  • @haashir007 LOL buy a mac!

Why would they make it for windows, when you can only make iPhone apps on a mac?

  • pretty cool application. I wouldn't use it for iphone dev, but something cool for beginners to use to grasp basic concepts of a game.

  • Unity and Torque are different beasts to GameSalad. Just like desktop video editing democratized digital video for the masses, GameSalad is doing the same for 2D games. I'm having a blast with GameSalad and all without needing any coder.

Unity iPhone Basic is $400. Unity iPhone Advanced is $1500.

    GameSalad is $99!

Sounds like the poster below is bitter and jealous.

A healthy debate is fine but childish racist profanities will not get your point across.

Now to make some money with GameSalad ;)

  • No serious developer would use this piece of shit, its like hiring some dot head in india to write shit code.

  • Lame, crashes all the time and Torque on the iPhone is a better development system.

  • ya but costs 750$

  • Incorrect. Hell even Unity 3D for the iPhone is only $300. Gamesalad is a piece of shit.

  • People are making a really good living using GameSalad and publishing directly for the iPhone and iPod. And that's with GameSalad still being in Beta!

People are doing amazing things with this tool. I've been in the game industry for three years and am having a great time using this. It is a pro tool and it's available and works now! It's well priced and I have complete control over what I build.

Not sure why there are so many negative people posting but ignorance has always been an enemy.

  • Gamesalad is shit...

Unity and Torque blow it away.

  • @mikequinn Yeah check out my game that I made with it: Doodle Pinball Adventures

  • @mikequinn Yeah check out my game that I made with it: Doodle Pinball Adventures. In the game you can smack some angry birds with the pinballs.

  • Anybody remember games factory :P?

  • Its a expensive gamemaker. And they are porting gamemaker to mac and you can make Iphone games with no extra cost.

  • its not expensive

  • Incorrect, its shit

  • You cant give the games to mates unless they have the game salad app .... this looks useless

  • Game maker is limited and can not make iPhone games. Game salad can. But if you want to Make à simple game: learn c + c# and use the source engine... And more complex games require homebrew engines.

  • Yay, shitty games!

  • We have Game Maker which is a lot more powerful and even easier to use. I'm sure MacOS version of GameMaker is on it's way.

So the only way this project may be interesting, is programming for iPhone. If they will make enough push towards iPhone development, I'm sure this project will become interesting for beginners and for professionals.

(but $100 for temporary subscription may seem a little harsh...)

  • Game Maker!!!

  • mac don't got gaems

  • lol he shouldve said ARCADE games... gey!

  • suck

  • game maker

its free and does the same thing

    but this still looks awesome

  • If you are just making them for fun then im sure this app is fine, but if you want to go anywhere in game programming in the future you should learn a programming language

  • Game maker anyone?

  • @TheWiiZone I use Game Maker 8 Pro on my workstation PC.

Gamesalad is terrible, I've tried it..

  • @TheWiiZone It doesn't design stuff for the iPhone...

  • @Flashguy45 I'm pretty sure that professionals won't use gamesalad. And newbies won't pay $99 licence.

  • You could use the templates and then yes it would be like kudo. But its like any game engine you can do whatever you want with it. A better microsoft Comparison would be gamemaker or unity

The thing that separates it from the others is that it bundles an xcode project for you that you can sell on itunes. I have has pretty descent sales as well with some my games. So the $99 was not a waste at all.

  • geeks rule

  • wow

  • I've made 3 games using GameSalad, all of them have been pretty successful. F is for Falling, V is for Vortex and Z is for Zombie.

  • @jonmulcahy wich one was the succesful? about how many downloads are u talking about?

  • Games on a mac... hahahahahahha

  • Comment removed

  • ah? Games on a PC... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (doesn't make sence, but) there are games for mac, you stupid asshole

  • Yeah, to bad they look like games from the 80's...

  • Seems just like Microsoft Kudo but more expensive (Kudo is only 800 points on live). Kudo also teaches you how to code, so no thanks dude =]

  • THe templates are but you can create ANYTHING from scratch

  • mmmm....game salad!

  • reminds me of gamemaker...

  • Guys don't act like a troll. I bought the licence at 99$ and I published my games on the app store and I have a very nice income.

  • Cool.

  • The point is its a jumping off point for anyone to try thier hand at game desogn. Not only that $99 a year isn't shit if you create something that sells even marginally well on the iPhone.

  • so for 99 dollar u can make games that already exist....am i the only one that thinks thats dumb?

  • tsss with this any idiot with room temp IQ can make arcade games

  • awesome

  • ahhh.... cool you can make iphone games.. :) but 99$ a year? ohh come on.... i rather use the money for Clothing , food to help me survive .............

  • @vickblink182 The 99 dollars is actually the cost of using the Apple SDK. So the program is actually free.

  • ohh really ? hmmm.... still i rather use it to buy stuff that i need :) well thanks anyway...

  • Warez it when you can. ;)

  • @Soninoob Then you cant publish to the iPhone you fool. Damn man, is your family tree a wreath?

  • ya you can you just have to pay the 100$ developer fee

  • google "alice"

virtually the same program for the PC except it supports 3d

  • @randomviewer896 It's not even close to be the same!

  • @randomviewer896 alice is one of the worst development tools I have ever used. I had a class over it in highschool and the games couldn't handle too much going on and would crash or freak out and the software was very limited with no compiling and missing features.

  • @randomviewer896 Can you make them into iPhone games?

  • @ozboybrian thats the idea

  • @Zkrudriverz Yeah, I know that's what gamesalad is for, i've been doing it - but the dude I was asking was talking about something else and I forget what he was talking about now... lol

  • @ozboybrian hehe oki

  • @randomviewer896 and it has shitty graphics too!! Basically, GameSalad does support 3D graphics, it's for Mac and PC, and it has good graphics, depending on what you create.

  • Comment removed

  • its basically game maker but not as good, and you know whats even funnier? Game maker is being ported to osx

  • There are lots of programs like this for the PC, and has been for a long time -.- ... This is new for mac? hmm oldschool .. And programming for mac gives you no access to the core or anything and that pretty much sucks

  • 99$ a year??? You would think that it would be like 15-40$ for a life time.

  • 99$ a year is nearly as much as World of Warcraft.

    OH MY GOD!

  • so its basically a crappy version of gamemaker?

  • im not a macfag i dont buy over priced computers

  • @MarLucatero

Hahahaha ... that comment of yours there sums up a lot of peoples thoughts. lol

  • @MarLucatero Amen. Glad to see someone else that thinks like I do. Screw Mac.

  • @MarLucatero your a poor pcfag, right?

  • @MarLucatero No because you don't got the money for it, right?

  • How does it handle more complex games? Usually GUI editors have problems with memory leaks and stuff.

Regardless, $99 sounds too expensive for something like this, considering how many games you could buy for the same price.

  • Code your own games without help. Much more fun.

  • this shit isn't worth $99 a year. More like 0.50 a year...

  • Meh.

  • haha just use C# and XNA it's piss easy

  • Macs can't run any games so they need the users to make their own.

    Haw haw haw.

  • I lol'd

    +1 to you internets.

    Macs r ghei.

  • One simple diff from the others. Game salad bundles an xcode project to be uploaded to the app store for sale.

Flash is great but you cant do that. If you know anything about xcode or iphone dev than you know its a pain in the ass and nothing else does this for you

  • I see a very identical program for Windows called Gamemaker, Free and a Pro Version, Free is fine and I was able to make a basic game, Glad to see that something like this is for the mac

(Pc and Mac Lover as well as ubuntu)

  • why doesnt this guy get 5 stars anymore!?

  • Dude, use GameMaker.

Or hey, why not just use the best game platform ever, Flash?

  • @w33nDK 600$ is why lol

  • OH WOW BUY IT?

    HAHAHAHA FAGGOT

  • @w33nDK yeah...cuz 600 dollars is cheap, and I can pull money right out of thin air. It's fuckin' expensive dip shit.

  • Dude, who the fuck BUYS software?

Oh my god you're such a typical macfag :D

  • @olliezero

    Adobe Flash is free.

  • @pikacunut Adobe Flash CS4 is what he's referring to. It's what's used to actually make flash files.

  • @olliezero

    Oh, thanks.

  • Nope.

I'm referring to Macromedia Flash 8.

  • @w33nDK

its also ridiculously hard to use.

  • Yeah, if you have the IQ of a three-year old.

    Holy shit.

  • Seriously? Im guessing you've never used it.

Or if you have, you got as far as drawing a few shapes and maybe even a little motion tweening, but i doubt it.

Most likely though you just asumes its really easy because there is so much flash content. It is hard, making simple games are HARD.

So just shut up about what you have no idea about or you'l just sound like a complete dick.

  • I have it and love it.

  • @ crazymovieguy.. I guess adobe and everyone else with software over $5 is about done too right? anyways....

A number of Top Games in the app store are made with it.

And seeing as how the competition runs thousands, $99 dollars is nothing.

I think a Developer or artist who has already spent thousands software wont really care about $99

  • this is gay!!!!

  • The interviewer here is very ill mannered. Finished the interview with, Ok...Thank You...?

  • @TriHawkStudios

no it was more like porn star acting....

I think the interviewer was just an amateur.

  • fuck more mac videos.

at least PC users are smart enough to program them ourselves

  • Don't be asinine. Whether you program your own games or not ain't the issue. Just let people do whatever brings them fun; that holier than thou attitude is lame.

  • excuse me?

lol I am a PC user but I do want a mac

  • @CheapAssMediaProd

actually, i program iphone games and this looks to be a lot easier. i know how to do normal but if this cuts down on time, then ill spend 100 bucks. just cause this isnt on pc and a pc cant dev for the gold mine of phone (iphone) dont be mad at other devs, if anything you should try and make friends and learn to do for more platforms to make more money.

  • Dudes that bitch about 99$ a year price its 0.2 dollars a day! -_- get over it cheapos!

Still dont have a mac or iphone so im not getting this :D

  • its cool that as designer you can make stuff without programing.. in my case

  • Not bad, but i dun have iphone so i wont use it. :)

  • No one is gonna buy this shit

  • About 100 will buy it, and there will be about 20,000 users.

  • i have this the new beta version i dont really like it its crashed on me a few times! you dont seem to have complete control of every thing

  • $99 a year....really Well I should not be surprised at the expensiveness of it. It is a mac type product.

  • its copied frm game maker :|

  • i want a apple imac :(

  • Games are meant for PC...

  • stfu, you know nothing.

  • Haha, are you butt-hurt because all the good games are on PC and not Mac? :P

  • no? wtf o.O?

i'm not a child. i dont play games.

instead i use my mac for something that will help me in my future. designing ;)

  • Well, you sure type like a child. :)

  • Hi bro.

  • neat concept

  • Interesting. Its like automator actions but for game scripting.

What would be cool is if it could generate SDL code that would run on mac/pc/android/iphone/webos

  • Why are software developers charging per year? That's fucked up. Your compainies gonna go bankrupt. Have fun with that.

  • @crazedmovieguy

I don't think they mind if you pay them a little extra.

  • Jourei91, you missed the point. Gamesalad is gonna go bankrupt because no one is gonna waste $99 per year on any software, no matter how good it is. $99 once off, yes, that would work. Not to mention the $500 you have to spend on the Mac to run it.

  • they are game makers like this, they normally fail cause ppl want to script and make their own. Not pre-made commands.

  • No, I don't. I use Java and C# for game development.

  • Its like GameMaker. It's what we use in college for game design ( to start with )

  • never heard of it

  • RIP OFF

  • no chance 99 dollars a year lower it to 50 then you might get some bidders

  • Why not for the windows platform? 1/5

  • im wit u!

  • Because to create and code it requires a Mac.

Since Mac + Apple = Greed

  • win!

  • He says it's making games without programming but it's really no different than programming. It's just drop downs instead of typing. Programming is no different, you set rules and the game follows them.

  • only that you can program anything and all those game makers are limited

most of the time much too limited

  • Looks easy and intuitive

  • Hes Tossin The Salad!

  • it looks like game maker

  • looks better

  • mac doesn't have game maker, windows has game maker and now game salad

  • that was epicoz!

  • gamemaker is better :P

    MAINSTREAM!!!

  • @the12221 game maker owns :D

that GameSalad just sound like a puzzle. the user don´´t create the pieces he only use pre-made stuff

  • YES I DO USE GAMESALAD

  • I wish they made this for windows as well

  • Agreed.

  • it's for windows as well dude.listen to what the dude said.he said windows and mac.they just have macs show casing it

  • No it's not. Nowhere on the site does it say it's for Windows.

  • mac desktop and iphone

  • actually, he said Mac desktop and iPhone. This is corroborated by the websites blurb.

You can develop for web browsers so I guess some of the games could be platform independent, just not the developer tool kit.

  • that's pretty cool

  • This is actually pretty cool. Can you make the games for free?

    - - - -

  • I think this is horrible... Soon, people won't ever need to program... Leaving all the smart computer scientists and game programmers out on the street.

  • not sure if this is the best thing for the industry either. could be the beginning of something good or bad

  • @Neotyguy40 Nah, you should not worry about that as a knowledgeable programer can write codes a lot faster than anyone could use this program. :)

  • That cannonball game at the end looks pretty cool.

  • whats up with you guys

    are thumbs down retards

    XD

  • Haha, I made a comment that reached -11!

    I win! :D

  • $99 a year !!? Are you crazy!?

  • i use it :D

  • hey! no retards saying 1st! 2nd! 3rd!

  • @nelizmastr 7th!

  • More! More!

  • Too bad you can't thumbs down urself...

  • A thumbs up... wtf?

  • -6 not bad

  • Whoops, my bad -7

  • No, -8

    That's pretty good!
